As global ageing increases, more and more people are suffering, or will soon suffer, from the inconvenience of living with a degenerative disease. One of these degenerative diseases is age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a degenerative disease closely related to the eye and millions of elderly people are suffering from it. This article will explain the primary pathophysiology of age-related macular degeneration.and focuses on the conventional treatment of Wet AMD, for example anti-VEGF drugs and surgery, and describes the mechanism of treatment with the shortcomings therein. In addition to this, this paper will present a novel therapeutic approach for wet age-related macular degeneration, via the G protein-coupled receptor CCR3. At the same time, this paper will compare the CCR3 therapy with the traditional therapy using chemical drugs, and explain the superior points and shortcomings of the CCR3 therapy. CCR3 antagonists were found to have better selectivity and affinity compared to anti-vascular endothelial growth factor drugs. CCR3 antagonists are expected to become another new class of drugs for the treatment of AMD, if novel, low-cost CCR3 antagonists are developed to replace the expensive CCR3 antibodies.

Food allergies, a pressing health concern with worldwide ramifications, have attracted immense attention in recent decades. A promising solution to this enduring issue lies in the prophylactic and therapeutic benefits offered by lactic acid bacteria (LAB) fermented products. These bacteria exhibit remarkable abilities, not only assisting in alleviating allergy symptoms but also in reducing the likelihood of allergies by intricately regulating the host's immune system. Through the process of fermentation hydrolysis, LAB modifies the antigenicity of food proteins, altering their linear epitopes and higher structural configurations. Additionally, they secrete epigenome modulators, release anti-inflammatory cytokines, and fortify the intestinal barrier, collectively contributing to the reduction of allergic reactions. The emerging role of LAB and their exosomes in combating food allergies presents an innovative and intriguing path for future research endeavors and therapeutic applications. This review summarizes the research achievements of lactic acid bacteria products in combating food allergies through two main approaches.

This study examined the effects of sex ratio on ecology, using Lamprey as the study population. It was found that there was a close relationship between sex ratio and food availability, with a higher proportion of female Lamprey when food availability was adequate and an increase in the proportion of males when food was scarce. The relationship between sex ratio and population dynamics of Lamprey was established by logistic growth model and Lotka-Volterra predator-prey model, and it was found that the change of sex ratio had a significant effect on the population size of Lamprey, which will affect the number of prey as well as the ecological factors such as water temperature and pH value. These discoveries reveal the important role of gender ratio in the ecosystem, and provide new perspectives and methods to solve the dynamics and resource utilization in the ecosystem.

Changes in sex ratio are a common adaptive phenomenon in biodiversity-rich ecosystems, which is reflected in many species, and the adjustment of the sex ratio of sea lampreys reflects its response to resource constraints and is critical for maintaining ecosystem stability. In this study, the population of sea lampreys was taken as an example, and the Lotka-Volterra competition model was used to explore the changes in the sex ratio of sea lampreys with environmental resource conditions. We found that the sex ratio of sea lampreys could reach 78% of the total population in an environment with a low food supply rate. In environments where food is more readily available, males make up about 56% of the population, which means that the population size of sea lampreys can have a significant impact on the changes in the population of competing species, affecting the time of extinction of the species and the population size in the early competition. Finally, we explore the ecological effects of sex ratio and resource availability.

The food industry is thriving due to economic prosperity. People's food requirements have expanded beyond mere sustenance to include a desire for diversity. However, long-term pressure from heavy work or family responsibilities may cause women to develop irregular dietary habits, leading to obesity and related health issues. As hypertension is a significant contributor to cardiovascular disease, this paper compares the advantages and disadvantages of three popular diets: the Mediterranean diet, the DASH diet, and the plant- based diet. The paper discusses the pros and cons of each diet to determine which one is more suitable for the female to prevent and alleviate hypertension symptoms. By comparing the regional, quantitative, nutritional value and public acceptance of three different diets, it is concluded that the plant-based diet which consists of fruits and vegetables in addition to nuts, seeds, whole grains, and legumes, is more suitable as a daily diet for women to alleviate hypertension symptoms.

Hypertension is a chronic disease now prevalent in modern societies and is a separate heart failure threat. If leave unattended a lengthy amount duration, it may lead to long-term risks such as stroke or heart attack, kidney damage, osteoporosis, and even death. Human metabolism of purines results in uric acid, which may have a significant impact on the onset and subsequent risk of pressure. The connection that exists among uric acid and hypertension was found to be progressively observable in Mendelian randomization studies, but no further strong subsequent studies have been conducted as of 2021 to illustrate the relationship. Meta-analysis studies have shown a potential link between elevated uric acid levels and an increased risk of hypertension, However, there is still a need to investigate the potential benefits of uric acid-lowering medications in reducing the risk of hypertension. Previous studies involving large sample sizes have indicated a positive association between uric acid levels and the likelihood of developing hypertension, but there is some geographic variation in the studies and the conclusions are limited and difficult to generalize. Multiple studies have given possible mechanisms at the mechanistic level for uric acid triggering hypertension or long-term risk, but the evidence-based value is low, giving no strong proof in terms of its relevance and continuity. This paper summarizes the existing evidence in the above points, puts forward its own insights, and looks forward to the future direction of scientific research, with a view to providing some references for future researcht.

Different species adopt different survival strategies. For lampreys, adaptive changes in sex ratio are crucial for their survival and reproduction. Then, we aim to find out how the change of lampreys’ sex ratio affect the ecosystem. Firstly, by expanding the Lotka-Volterra equations to three species and species competition models, we find that an increase in the male-female ratio of lampreys under different food resources leads to higher peaks of population, more pronounced fluctuations, and greater threats to their prey. Secondly, applying a method to calculate stability index with species’ biomass, we discussed the impact of lampreys’ sex ratio changes on ecosystem stability with species that are ranked by PageRank algorithm. When male-female ratio increases, the ecosystem tends to become unstable. In conclusion, adaptive changes in lampreys’ sex ratio has a great effect on their survival and reproduction. Therefore, studying the effects of lamprey sex ratio changes on ecosystems will contribute significantly to addressing the current issues.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of external environmental factors on the sex ratio of lampreys and the possible changes in population size and structure as a result of such effects. We simulated the population dynamics of male and female lampreys separately by modeling the population dynamics of lampreys based on the Lotka-Volterra model, and considered the effects of human predation on the lamprey population. By adjusting model parameters, such as predation intensity, initial sex ratio and rate of change in sex ratio dynamics, we simulated changes in the sex ratio of lampreys under different conditions and observed the effects of such changes on the ecosystem. The results suggest that changes in the sex ratio of lampreys may lead to changes in the abundance and distribution of other species, which in turn may affect the stability of the ecosystem. In addition, we analyzed the model results and presented graphs showing changes in predator and prey population dynamics and changes in lamprey sex ratios, further illustrating the effects of changes in sex ratios on ecosystem dynamics, population size and stability.

Food waste has become a very serious global problem that urgently requires the global attention and improvement. The promulgation of the Anti-Food Waste Law had a great impact on the China's catering industry, however, there are still many problems that need to be solved. Due to the advancement of information technology, online ordering services are gradually emerging, and the consumer online ordering behavior towards restaurants is increasing, leading to an increase in the degree of food waste in the catering industry. Due to many factors that affect food waste and some of them, such as personal consumer norms, it is difficult to change and limit the personal food waste behavior because it is controlled by subjective thoughts. This study proposes targeted suggestions based on not only the current situation but also the influencing factors in the Chinese catering industry, hoping to provide new ideas and ways to improve this situation.
