Multisensor Data Fusion for Patient Risk Level Determination and Decision-support in Wireless Body Sensor Networks 基于多传感器数据融合的无线身体传感器网络患者风险水平确定和决策支持

Wireless Body Sensor Networks (WBSNs) are a low-cost solution for healthcare applications allowing continuous and remote monitoring. However, many challenges are addressed in WBSNs such as limited energy resources, early detection of emergencies and fusion of large amount of heterogeneous data in order to take decisions. In this paper, we propose a multisensor data fusion approach enabling one to determine the patient risk level based on vital signs scores. Consequently, a corresponding decision is taken routinely and each time an emergency is detected. This approach is based on early warning score systems, a fuzzy inference system and a technique determining the score of a vital sign given its past and current value. We evaluate our approach on real healthcare datasets.

Preference and Mobility-Aware Task Assignment in Participatory Sensing 参与式感知中的偏好与移动感知任务分配

Participatory Sensing is a new paradigm of mobile sensing where users are actively involved in leveraging the power of their smart devices to collect and share information. Motivated by its potential applications, we tackle in this paper the task assignment problem for a requester encountering a crowd of participants while considering their mobility model and sensing preferences. We aim to minimize the overall processing time of sensing tasks. Hence, we introduce first the Mobility-Aware Task Assignment scheme in both oFfline (MATAF) and oNline (MATAN) models where requesters investigate the participants' arrival model in different compounds of the sensing region. Further, we enhance such schemes by jointly taking into account participants' mobility and sensing preferences. We advocate then two other task assignment models, P-MATAF (offline) and P-MATAN (online). All proposed algorithms adopt a greedy-based selection strategy and address the minimization of the average makespan of all sensing tasks. We conduct extensive performance evaluation based on real traces while varying the number of tasks and associated workloads. Results proved that our proposed schemes have achieved lower average makespan and higher number of delegated tasks.

On Optimal Charger Positioning in Clustered RF-power Harvesting Wireless Sensor Networks 集束射频功率采集无线传感器网络中充电器最优定位研究

Wireless charging brings forward some new principles in designing energy efficient networks. A number of energy transmitters are placed in all over the network to recharge power constrained nodes. Since a few only nodes can remarkably benefit from the transmitter power emission, we organize the nodes in clusters and we propose an efficient localized algorithm as well as a centralized one to compute the charger position such that the cluster lifetime is maximized. Simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the approaches.

Impact of Time in Network Selection for Mobile Nodes 时间对移动节点网络选择的影响

Today, mobile nodes use multiple Internet access networks inefficiently. State-of-the-art network selection strategies distribute data traffic to available networks, but ignore an important second dimension: time. Time selection offers the opportunity to plan usage of future-available networks for delay-tolerant data traffic. We hypothesize, that concurrent selection of network and time leads to synergy effects, which reduce transmission cost and boost connectivity performance. To assess data distribution to wireless networks and time, we propose a novel rating model for joint network and time selection. The proposed model rates the satisfaction of Quality-of-Service (QoS) application requirements and trades off conflicting optimization goals. Moreover, we analyze the impact of time in network selection and present three network selection schedulers, which differ in their time selection strategy. Evaluation of the results reveals a strong impact of time selection on network performance. This gives evidence, that our initial hypothesis holds and forward-looking scheduling strategies provide a substantial benefit over state-of-the-art approaches.

An Experimental Study of Cross-Technology Interference in In-Vehicle Wireless Sensor Networks 车载无线传感器网络中跨技术干扰的实验研究

Wireless in-vehicle networks are considered as a flexible and cost-efficient solution for the new generation of cars. One of the candidate wireless technologies for these wireless sensor networks is the IEEE 802.15.4 standard which operates in the 2.4 GHz ISM band. This is while the number of wireless devices that operate in this band is ever increasing. This broad usage of the same RF band may cause considerable performance degradation of wireless networks due to interference. There is some work on the coexistence of the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol and other standard technologies such as IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) and IEEE 802.15.1 (Bluetooth), but none of it considers the highly dynamic conditions of in-vehicle networks. In this paper, we investigate the interference behavior in in-vehicle environments using real-world experiments. We consider different scenarios and measure the interference on all the 16 channels of IEEE 802.15.4 in the 2.4 GHz band.The measurement data set is available to the public. This real-world data set can be used for realistic and accurate network simulation. To study the effect of interference on in-vehicle networks, we use this data set to evaluate the performance of an IEEE 802.15.4e TSCH link. The simulation results show that the packet error rate for some interference scenarios is considerably high and dynamic over time. This shows the value of the data set and reveals the importance of using adaptive interference mitigation techniques to improve the reliability of wireless in-vehicle networks.

Dynamic Sensitivity Control to improve Spatial Reuse in Dense Wireless LANs 提高密集无线局域网空间复用的动态灵敏度控制

With the proliferation of wireless LANs, we are in an era of densification. Whilst densification could lead to increased coverage (neighbouring APs belonging to the same administrative domain), which is good news, it could also lead to increased interference (neighbouring APs not belonging to the same administrative domain). In particular, in the latter case, nodes (both APs and STAs) in neighbouring networks could carrier sense each other and resist from transmitting when in fact a parallel transmission could have been harmless. Thus, improving spatial reuse in such scenarios is crucial to improving performance in dense deployments otherwise the efficiency is likely to take a hit. This paper elaborates on dynamic sensitivity control (DSC), a way of adapting the carrier sensing threshold dynamically to address the aforementioned issue and presents results from a simulation based study aimed at evaluating the proposed method. Findings indicate that the gains achievable from deploying DSC vary significantly depending on the operating conditions and therefore, choosing a fixed conservative threshold at design time, as has been the case traditionally, may not be an appropriate decision. We also show that enabling DSC at the AP may bring benefits with the performance approaching that of the traditional method (of not adapting sensitivity) in the conservative case.

A Novel Service-oriented Architecture for Information-Centric Vehicular Networks 面向服务的新型信息中心车辆网络体系结构

With Vehicular mobile communication becoming an everyday requirement and an ever increasing number of services available, it is clear that vehicular networks require more efficient management. In this paper we discuss service orientation as an architectural model for Information Centric Networking (ICN) VANETs. We discuss the limitations faced by vehicles and propose structuring communication towards as a coordinated service-centric network. Intermittent connectivity and end-to-end network delay are amongst the issues tackled by this work as we envision our network model. Additionally, we perform a set of simulations to exemplify the benefits of service coordination.

Evaluating Video Dissemination in Realistic Urban Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks 现实城市车载Ad-Hoc网络视频传播评价

Video content delivery for vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) is envisioned to be of high benefit for road safety, traffic management as well as for providing value-added vehicle services. In this paper, we evaluate five existing dissemination mechanisms in a realistic urban scenario. We also propose RCP+ as a renovated mechanism for adaptative video streaming over VANETs. RCP+ is a cross layer dissemination mechanism for video safety messages that specifically addresses urban scenarios with zero infrastructure support. Through simulations, we compare our proposal with other distributed dissemination mechanisms. The performance evaluation shows that our proposal mechanism is more suitable for video transmission in realistic urban scenarios. The results also indicate that a modified frame coding approach provides many opportunities for multimedia services.

Energy Aware Network Formation in Peer-to-Peer Wireless Power Transfer 点对点无线电力传输中能量感知网络的形成

This paper addresses wirelessly networked populations of nodes (agents) that can both transmit and receive wireless power among each other, interacting locally in a peer to peer manner. In this setting, we study the important problem of network formation, in particular how the agents can distributively create a star structure. Extending the state of the art, we introduce energy considerations in network formation: in addition to the star construction, our goal is to achieve a certain target energy distribution among the agents. We assume a generalized, more realistic energy loss factor which may differ for each pairwise power exchange. We propose four interaction protocols aiming both to construct the star structure and also converge to the target energy distribution. Our protocols assume different amounts of network knowledge, achieving different efficient trade-offs with performance, measured in terms of how close they get to the targeted energy distribution, as well as their energy efficiency and convergence time.

Energy Efficiency in Mixed Access Networks 混合接入网的能源效率

This paper tackles the multifaceted challenges of controllingit mixed access networks with base stations, access points and D2D relay stations. Mixed access networks are of uncompelling importance since the next generation cellular access networks are envisioned to use different access technologies at once. We propose a unified framework to model throughput, airtime and power consumption of mobile terminals under any workload conditions in SDN-controlled mixed access networks. With our analysis, we formulate an access selection problem to optimize energy efficiency at the terminal side, while providing fair throughput guarantees. We show that the problem is NP-hard and propose an online low-complexity heuristic that largely outperforms legacy access selection policies. Our results indicate that energy efficiency can be traded off for fairness and that D2D relay is key to increase it both energy efficiency and fairness.
