The article deals with the comparison and evaluation of milling strategies, which are available in CAM systems and are used for the production of components with freeform surfaces. For the purpose of the experiment a test sample with a repeating shape feature was designed. First half of the test sample shape features were machined using 3-Axis milling strategies while second half was performed with strategies available on 5-Axis CNC machining centre. Simulated machining times as well as virtually machined surfaces using color maps with deviation values were evaluated by employed CAM software. Obtained data was used to evaluate the performance of 3-Axis and 5-Axis milling centre both individually and mutually. These results will be used to compare software data with data obtained from real sample production. The main goal is to verify the reliability of the results provided by CAM systems in the production of parts with freeform feature surfaces.

Material requirement planning (MRP) plays an important role in the efficiency improvement of manufacturing companies. The MRP solutions of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are influenced by both technological and logistics parameters, but using additional algorithms, like Wagner-Whitin or Silver-Meal heuristics, it is possible to take more parameters into consideration. These heuristics can optimise the results of MRP, especially from ordering, warehousing and transportation costs point of view. Within the frame of this article the impact of process parameters on the result of Wagner-Whitin algorithm are described.

Usually, the handling characterisation of workplaces is not taken into consideration during the handling equipment selection process, so the handling solutions are not optimized and require additional modifications. If we could exactly define the handling parameters of workplaces and take them into account before the selection of the handling equipment, the result will be better suit. In this paper, the handling parameters of production workplaces and their effects to the handling solutions are presented. The focus is on the external handling process and the relation among workplace and handling equipment parameters, and an example is also presented.

With the current development of technology, more and more emphasis is being placed on product quality. Therefore, it is important in machining to continuously take care to reduce the influence of undesirable factors that adversely affect the machining process itself. Vibrations are one of the basic factors influencing the quality of machining. This paper analyzes the issue of vibration during milling. By measuring selected vibration parameters on the spindle head of a universal tool milling machine, information on the process of vibration magnitude in the milling process was obtained using a multiparametric vibration sensor. During machining, the magnitudes of vibration velocity and acceleration are recorded at speed changes of 71 rpm, 90 rpm, and 140 rpm. The measured data are tabulated and displayed in graphical dependencies. They are used to obtain the information needed to develop a proposal for a solution to the mentioned issue, which is the main objective of this research.

One of the primary technologies in the Industry 4.0 concept refers to Smart maintenance or predictive maintenance that includes continuous or periodic sensor monitoring of physical changes in the condition of manufacturing resources (Condition monitoring). In this way, production delays or failures are timely prevented or minimized. In this context, the paper present a developed cloud-based system for monitoring the condition of cutting tool wear by measuring vibration. This system applies a machine learning method that is integrated within the MS Azure cloud system. The verification was performed on the data of the calculated central moments during the turning process, for cutting tool inserts with different degrees of wear.

Strategic planning is the choice of strategy that determines the direction of enterprise development and achieving the set goals. The adopted vision and mission of the realization of the strategic planning process should be based on the possibilities of the company's potential and its focus on both innovation and creative thinking of employees. The analysis of the strategic position of the company and the creation of strategic planning of its development can be done by applying various methods, including SWOT analysis, which is presented in detail in the paper. In the observed company, which deals with Cold and Hot vegetable processing, using SWOT analysis, an assessment of its market position was made and strategic directions in the market were defined, including proposed improvements in strategic planning.

Since the beginning of the current millennium, various professional organizations, research institutes, scientific papers in journals and various conferences around the world, address the issue of maintenance, generically speaking, both theoretically, directly or tangentially and by examples of benefits in industry for various production processes, machines and installations. However, recent studies and reports reveal that even in highly industrially developed countries, company management aims to improve maintenance in only about 15% of cases for the next plan year. Why, this is the question? This paper will try to provide answers and even propose possible solutions to increase the applicability in industry of new concepts and theories of maintenance. The arguments used are less oriented on the technical side, they are mainly focused on the “money” indicator, close to the understanding of the company's senior management, i.e. on how huge material benefits can be obtained compared to the insignificant investment expenses.

ABSTRACT Defect dies scattering on semiconductor wafer bin maps (WBM) tends to form specific patterns that point to particular manufacturing problems. The distribution of defect patterns from the shop floor is often highly imbalanced, leading to the challenge of having insufficient data about defect pattern types when building deep learning classification models. The method for completing such analysis in a timely manner with limited data is of critical interest. This study developed a method for applying content-based image retrieval (CBIR) and convolutional neural networking (CNN) to WBM defect patterns classification to solve the data imbalance problem and to improve accuracy when using relatively a small quantity of data. In this research, 3,600 WBMs featuring 12 defect pattern types were selected from the WM-811 K dataset for empirical validation. Using only 1,400 CNN training data elements, the overall classification accuracy reached 98.44%. Graphical abstract

ABSTRACT Customer opinions on a product or retailer can be assessed through analyzing their textual reviews submitted to online communities. While the attitudinal information of a text post can be gauged by studying the sentiment words used, a method has to be sought for more effectively evaluating the sentiment strengths, because different writers may have varied interpretations on a word’s sentiment. The objective of this paper is to develop a new integrated approach by adopting Sentiment Analysis and Evidential Reasoning for the online retailers’ timely evaluation of the public sentiments toward different product alternatives. The finding of the study has established the benefit of efficiently evaluating the customers’ feedback toward products and monitoring the changes of customer preferences on product attributes over time. The results obtained from the proposed approach are superiority to other decision-making tools. Graphical Abstract

ABSTRACT Cities in China are experiencing accelerating urbanization, and the associated increase in anthropogenic activities and outcomes places an enormous burden on the environment, increases energy consumption, and leads to poor social sustainability. Poor social sustainability has not been adequately addressed by prior studies. This study develops a set of valid and reliable social sustainability indicators for assessing green buildings in China. Green building indicators are needed to validate various studies and assist practitioners in understanding social sustainability indicators. Hence, these indicators are analyzed using the fuzzy Delphi method. The results show that safety and durability are the most important aspects of green building social sustainability. Other key aspects are health and comfort, and accessibility and convenience. This set of indicators facilitates decision-making processes for practitioners and provides suitable practical guidelines for different stakeholders to allow social sustainability to be achieved.
