We use slit-confocal microscopy to study spatial diffusion of carriers between quantum dot ensembles coupled through a wide wire-like barrier. When carriers are photo-excited above in this barrier the diffusion on a scale of 5 microns has been observed

A kilohertz laser producing 4 mJ pulses with 25 fs duration and 26% conversion efficiency was developed using a single-stage multi-pass amplifier. The laser signal spot size inside the Ti:sapphire gain medium was changed in a unique way to obtain high gain and high efficiency without damaging the crystal. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest pulse energy ever obtained from kHz lasers with a single-stage multi-pass amplifier

We implement a quantum random walk on a line using a Bose-Einstein condensate. Periodically applied Bragg diffraction pulses split the condensate into stationary and moving components, yielding clearly non-classical spatial distributions

Elements of quantum-computing networks using adiabatically generated single photons from atom-cavity systems are shown. Higher-order interference, essential for linear-optical quantum computing, is demonstrated, and this effect is also used for entangling individual atoms with light
