MONETA services of SK Telecom: lessons from business convergence experiences for ubiquitous computing services SK电信的MONETA服务:普适计算服务业务融合经验的教训

MONETA service is one of the recent attempts by SKT (SK-Telecom) to commercialize ubiquitous computing concepts. MONETA service is developed as a result of business convergence between telecommunication and financial industries. In the course of launching MONETA, SKT has encountered many challenging obstacles. Through SKT experiences of MONETA, we intend to provide business firms, who search for new opportunities for ubiquitous computing, with practical implications.

Introduction to the "uAuto" project - ubiquitous autonomic computing and network “uAuto”项目简介——泛在自主计算与网络

The ubiquitous autonomic computing and network (uAuto) project is one of the 21st century frontier R&D programs supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology in Korea. It is a long term project for ten years up to 2013 making project participants to be a world class leading research organization in the ubiquitous computing domain, which is to develop fundamental technologies for man-machine interaction and intelligent information processing for ubiquitous services, and to implement real ubiquitous environments for demonstration including platform-independent applications and their context-based adaptation.

U-kitchen: application scenario U-kitchen:应用场景

The research topic of U-spaces is drifting towards the practical implementation. We have presented application scenario of a ubiquitous kitchen environment. The scenario is made using some smart devices communicating to each other and sharing the context via a kitchen server. By addition of limited level of smartness in the appliances, ubiquitous services are developed that makes the job for an autonomous ubiquitous system far more easier and technical issues, less complex. One of our objectives in this paper is to increase the quality and reduce the link cost so that the convergence of large number of devices can be made possible.

This paper provides a series of lessons learned with respect to designing embedded software systems using the object-oriented paradigm and specifically with the application of the Unified Modeling Language (UML). The experiences captured in this paper are based on the author's observations across multiple embedded software systems and pertain to both the development processes and the application of UML models.

Privacy-concern for context-aware environments 上下文感知环境的隐私问题

Context-aware computing offers attractive services by collecting information from various sensors, and the services are adapted according to the current condition of the real world. However, the danger of overflowing personal information is also getting high because the data retrieved by the sensors usually contain privacy information. In this paper, we study on the tradeoff between privacy and the quality of services, and we present the design of our system that we are currently developing. Our proposed system controls the tradeoff according to a user's requirement, and guarantees the trustworthy of the management of privacy information.

Topology generation algorithms for home sensor networks 家庭传感器网络拓扑生成算法

We focus on sensor network topology discovery problem in home environment. We have proposed our algorithm for self-configuring sensor networks, which is based on flooding and gossiping methods with some new parameters. Our algorithm is simple and energy efficient compared to the flooding method. It satisfies the requirements for home environment as well.

Infopipes: concepts and ISG implementation 信息管道:概念和ISG实现

We describe Infopipes, a distributed computational and communications abstraction for information flow applications and I/O intensive distributed real-time embedded (DRE) systems. Infopipes are specified by the syntax, semantics, and quality of service requirements for information flows. Software tools generate executable code from the specification. We explain a DRE scenario and then provide a microbenchmark comparison of generated Infopipe code to standard, handwritten TCP code. Measurements show that Infopipe-generated code has the same execution overhead as the manually written original version.

Multi-application platform for mobile phones 手机多应用平台

Recently mobile phones have included new functions to provide new services for users. However, increase in functions complicates mobile phones. This is a serious problem in developing mobile phones. Since built-in applications on mobile phones provide the main functions of mobile phones, productivity of built-in applications has to be improved. The Java language improves productivity of applications because of the features of the Java language. To develop built-in applications as Java applications, an application platform should handle Java applications and native applications in a uniform way. In this paper, we propose an application platform for mobile phones, which enables running native applications and Java applications concurrently, and handling them in a uniform way. To handle applications in a uniform way, we develop a platform which has window management, inter-application communication and application state management functions.

Lightweight services for embedded systems 用于嵌入式系统的轻量级服务

We propose creating service oriented-architecture for embedded systems. We introduce the concept of contracts for embedded systems, and propose architectural and design solutions for accessing embedded systems using lightweight services based on contracts. We define proxy, translator and full service architectures, that enable us to link with a variety of classes of embedded devices. By treating embedded systems as services we expect to make a concept of self-descriptive and reusable embedded systems more accessible to clients.

ubiDSS: a framework of multi-agent based proactive decision support system with context-awareness ubiDSS:一个基于多智能体的具有上下文感知的前瞻性决策支持系统框架

The emergence of ubiquitous computing environment changes the service architecture of business information systems such as decision support system (DSS). Our aim is to describe how the decision-making capability and context-aware computing are jointly used to establish ubiquitous applications. To do so, an amended DSS paradigm: CKDDM (context-knowledge-dialogue-data-model) is proposed. Under the CKDDM paradigm, a framework of ubiquitous decision support systems (ubiDSS) is addressed with the description of the subsystems within. To show the feasibility of ubiDSS, a prototype, CAMA-myOpt (context-aware multiagent system - my optimization), has been developed.
