Impacts of Climate Variability and Climate Change and Adaptation Strategy among Small Scale Farmers of Kurfa Chele District, East Hararghe Zone, Oromia Region, Ethiopia 埃塞俄比亚奥罗米亚地区东哈拉尔河区Kurfa Chele地区小农气候变率和气候变化的影响及适应策略

Climate variability and change has caused instability in production and decline in productivity exacerbating food insecurity particularly in Latin America, Africa including Ethiopia and some parts of Asia. The magnitude and frequency of extreme climatic events is projected to increase. The effects of these climatic changes will become even more pronounced among small scale farmers whose farming activities are weather dependent and vulnerable to climate change, and already affected by environmental degradation and socio-economic risks. Effective adaptation to climate change among small scale farmers is therefore of critical importance, and is dependent on adoption of climate smart practices. However, studies have shown low adoption of climate smart farming practices among small scale farmers world over, in East Hararghe Zone and Kurfa Chele District. This study therefore examined factors influencing adoption of climate smart practices among farmers Kurfa Chele District, East Hararghe Zone, evaluated their existing knowledge, attitude and practice of these practices, assessed their perception of climate change, examined the extent of climate information dissemination, and the resultant impact on uptake of these practices. The research adopted a survey research design, where both quantitative and qualitative research strategies were used. Data was gathered through Focus Group Discussions, questionnaires, key informant interviews, observations and desk review. Both simple random and purposive sampling was used to sample 420 small scale farmers and technical officers of the agriculture sector respectively. Data was analysed using both quantitative and qualitative techniques. To test the statistical significance of the findings and relationships between the variables, chi-square test was used.

Gut Histomorphometric and Blood Profile of Broiler Chicks Fed Varied Levels Of Protein 饲喂不同水平蛋白质的肉仔鸡肠道组织形态学和血液特征

Gut plays active role in screening what goes into the blood stream and blood is very important parameter to access for us to establish the health status of animal to any dietary variation, this will help the producer ability to guaranty the consumers’ health. Therefore this research was designed to determine gut histomorphometry and blood profile of broiler starter fed varied levels of protein. Material and method is A total of 144 days-old-broiler chicks were used for the study. Broiler standard starter mash with varied protein percentages of 20, 23, and 26%, respectively for treatments 1, 2 and 3 were used. Data were analysed using ANOVA at α0.05. Results is Except crude protein and ash contents, others nutrient digestibilities were not affected by the dietary treatments. Birds fed lower crude protein had the lowest crude protein digestibility while birds fed standard diet (23% CP) had the best and highest crude protein digestibility. White blood cell decrease with decrease dietary protein, this might have serious effect on the immunity level of the broilers. Also globulin increases while albumin decreases with increase in dietary protein levels. Serum total protein increases with increase in the dietary protein levels and diet with26% CP recorded the highest value (5.82g/dL). Serum cholesterol values were significantly higher at lower protein level unlike serum protein whiledifferent gut parts response significantly different to dietary treatments. Conclusion is at early stage broiler growth, diet need to have higher CP to improve the immunity and health growth of gut.

Effect of dietary supplementation of neem oil (Azadirachtaindica) on the growth performance and nutrient digestibility of weaned rabbits 饲粮中添加印楝油对断奶家兔生长性能和营养物质消化率的影响

The objective of the present study was to determine the effect of dietary supplementation of neem oil (Azadirachtaindica) on the growth performance and nutrient digestibility of weaned rabbits. A total of 50 weaned male cross bred rabbits between 5-6 weeks with an average weight of 565.4g-566.8gwere divided into five dietary groups of ten (10) weaned rabbits each in a completely randomized design. The dietary treatments include a control, T1 (basal) diet with no neem oil (NOL), T2, T3, T4 and T5 were fed basal diet supplemented with NOL at 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3% and 0.4% respectively. Feed and water were offered ad libitum throughout the experiment which lasted for 12 weeks. The data obtained was used to evaluate the growth performance: weight gain (WG), feed intake (FI), feed conversion ratio (FCR), mortality and nutrient digestibility (dry matter, crude protein, crude fibre and ether extract). WG, ADFI, TFI were significantly (P˂0.05) different among the treatments. T5 had the highest weight gain (755.90 g) followed by T4(734.0g), T3(705.90g), T2(705.0g) and T1(621.80g) respectively. Highest mortality was recorded in T1 (2%) followed by T2 (1%), none was recorded in T3, T4 and T5. Neem oil significantly influenced (P˂0.05) all the parameters measured. It could be concluded thatneem oil contains some essential nutrients and bioactive chemicals and could be supplemented in the diet of rabbit at 0.4 % without any deleterious effect on the general performance of the animal.

Synthesis of NiO/ZnO Nanoparticles: Application for Photodegradation of Methylene Blue 纳米NiO/ZnO的合成及其在亚甲基蓝光降解中的应用

NiO/ZnO nanocomposites synthesized by sol-gel method with zinc chloride and nickel nitrate hexahydrate in ethanol used as solvent. Material was characterized by Particle size analyzer, UV-Vis, FTIR, TGA and DSC. NiO/ZnO nanoparticles investigated as a suitable photocatalytic material for the methylene blue degradation i.e. an organic dye under visible light irradiation. The UV–vis absorption spectra of the NiO/ZnO nanoparticles shown peaks in the UV region, corresponding to the band gap of the NiO/ZnO nanoparticles. The band gap of NiO/ZnO nanoparticles is calculated 3.55 eV by Tauc’s plot method. Then UV visible data showed the methylene blue degradation with NiO/ZnO nanoparticles, behaving as active catalyst.

Impacts COVID-19 pandemic Diseases on Ethiopian Agriculture, Food Systems, Industries, and Mitigation and Adaptation Strategy COVID-19大流行疾病对埃塞俄比亚农业、粮食系统、工业的影响以及缓解和适应战略

The COVID-19 pandemic is a recent outbreak in almost all parts of the world including Ethiopia influencing the socio-economy of people and mainly threatening the agriculture and food security of the least developed countries. The current desk review and opinion synthesis by a multi-disciplinary team of experts from Haramaya University aimed at assessing the probable impact of the virus on the Ethiopian agriculture and food security and suggesting the possible mitigation and adaptation strategies to all responsible. Experts’ opinion and desk review of existing information were employed for the analysis and conclusions drawn, due to the difficulty of data generation at this time of movement restriction and poor database availability on websites of relevant institutions. Accordingly, the information gathered were synthesised and described following the major stages of food supply chains as production, handling and storage, processing and packaging, distribution and marketing, and consumption are key messages drawn from the overall assessment.

Role of Difficulty in Emotion Regulation, Suicidal Ideation and Distress in Patients with Substance use disorders 困难在物质使用障碍患者情绪调节、自杀意念和痛苦中的作用

Cognitive theory explains that the substance intoxication develops a syndrome whichdirectly affects the central nerves system. It further creates troubles in perception, thinking,concentration and emotion regulation. The difficulty in emotion regulation problem causes the suicidal ideation and psychological distress in substance patients, but most of the clinician is unaware about the role of emotion dysregulation in substance intoxication and other psychological problems that they didn’t provided specific treatment for emotion regulation problem to controlled substance intoxication and its related problems. The present study explore the role of difficulty in emotion regulation with suicidal ideation and psychological distress among patients with substance use disorders. The date was collected from 60 patients with substance use disorders, with age range from 18 to 35 years. The sample size was arranged through the G Power software. Data of the current study was collected from different government and private hospitals and drug rehabilitation centers of Lahore city Pakistan by using of convenient sampling technique. The difficulty emotional regulation, suicidal ideation attributes and depressions, Anxiety, Stress (DASS) scales were used for data collection. The simple linear regression statistical analysis was used for data analysis. Simple linear regression analysis indicated that difficulty in emotion regulation (β= .214) is positively associated with suicidal ideation and psychological distress, depression is (β= .322), anxiety is (β= .326) and stress (β= .320). Among patients with substance use disorders. Difficulty in emotion regulation has positively predicated the suicidal ideation and psychological distress among patients with substance use disorders. The present study was found that the difficulty in emotion regulation plays a significant role in suicidal ideation and psychological distress among patients with substance use disorders.

Development of Fire Monitoring and ExtinguishingRobot Using IoT 基于物联网的火灾监控与灭火机器人的研制

The purpose of the research project is develope to an autonomous moving andcontrolling the vehicle that capable of file extinguishing automatically and access by anywhere inthe world using IoT. This robot is detecting the fire and taking appropriate distinguisheroperation just to protect the human’s life. The robot consist of Flame sensor and Gas sensor thatdetects the fire, smoke as well as gas leakage. Whenever it detects the fire it will be extinguishingfire by sprinkling the water into the fire. The obstacles can be identified by ultrasonic sensorsThe video and audio can be accessed anywhere by using the webcam installed on it. We cancontrol the robot using wifi as well as IoT. The data collected has been sent through the cloudserver and can access the data across the world using IoT.

The objective is to provide a resources and devices for detecting and recordingcollusion between bikes. Sensors and cloud computing infrastructures are utilized for buildingsystem. The collision detection system communicates the accelerometer values to the processorwhich continuously monitors for erratic variations. When the collision occurs, the information’sare passing to the concern by using a cloud-based service. GPS is used for identifying thelocation of the bike. The application of this system is extended to smart cities and smart helmets.
