We present one case of hepatic adenoma in a patient with a long history of oral contraceptive administration. Review of the literature in similar cases points to the possibility of a cause effect relationship between this type of drugs and liver adenomas.
Eighteen patients with fever of unknown origin in whom other diagnostic procedures had failed, underwent exploratory laparotomy with splenectomy, hepatic biopsies and biopsies of lymph nodes, muscle and bone, while bile, urine and intestinal content were cultured. In all patients, inspection and palpation of abdominal cavity doesn't give any diagnostic orientation. With histologic examination and cultures, precise diagnosis was made in 13 cases (72 per cent). Predominant diagnosis was Hodgkin's disease. One patient died with complications of surgery.
The psychological and psychopathological aspects of pain serve to emphasize the therapeutic importance of psychopharmacological drugs in the treatment of this frequent symptom. Using the classification of psychotropic drugs made by Delay and Deniker, the author analyses the practical applications of some psycholeptics, some psychoanaleptics, and even some psychodysleptics in anti-pain therapeutics. The analysis of some statistics on the frequency of pain in different patient samples, from general medicine as well as from psychiatry, helps to comment upon the great advance implied by the psychopharmacological revolution.
This publication proposes the utilization of an analytical discriminatory method in the diagnosis of malignant neoplasia. The multiple variable technique of analysis is suggested employing the quantification of the HbF, HbA2, AcB and AcC. This has already been demonstrated in a previous study which suffered from quantifiable variations important in neoplastic disease. The confidence of the procedure has been proven when applied to 198 known cases, having classified them adequately 94 per cent of the time.
The therapeutic activity of Fludilat in circulatory disorders was evaluated in 9 women and 11 men, with ages between 41 and 75 years. Three suffered atherosclerosis and 17 diabetic vascular disease. Elimination of the symptom was obtained in intermittent claudication in 71 per cent of the patients who suffered it, in 67 per cent in case of feeling of coldness, in 46 per cent in paraesthesias, in 73 per cent in feeling of heaviness and in 6 per cent in trophic changes. In the remaining patients there was a significative reduction in the intensity of the symptoms, except in trophic changes. This result are considered as excellents. The general result of the treatment was satisfactory. There was no significacative change in the blood pressure and no side effects were reported. A better response of the atherosclerotic patients was obtained. We found no influence of age, sex and blood pressure on the results. The study corroborates the efficacy of Fludilat in the treatment of circulatory disorders and its excellent tolerance.
