This manuscript is compilation of insights on the food culture of Malolos, Bulacan and Mexico, Pampanga in the Philippines. The paper discusses factors that affect the food cultures in the said places. The paper has three major parts: (1) food as a social symbol; (2) food diversity; and (3) food history. The researchers resulted into a conclusion that the food cultures of Malolos, Bulacan and Mexico Pampanga have their own characteristics, especially in terms of the taste, but also share some similarities in terms of food preparation and some of its origins and symbols. These aspects were all affected by different factors such as foreign colonization, scarcity of food, availability of resources, religious beliefs, adaptability of the people in the current situation and innovation.

The use of traditional coconut peelers by the farmers is found to be less efficient and effective as well as less safe. Therefore, as a community service activities in the KKN of University of Bengkulu Period 93, a Unib’s student had implemented the knowledge gained in college in order to benefit to the community, especially in Bengkulu Province. In this KKN activity, the design and manufacture of a simple coconut peeler was carried out to be used by people in Desa Batu Lungun, Kecamatan Nasal, Kaur Regency, Bengkulu Province, in where many people work as coconut farmers. The stages of designing process include interviews about community needs and continued with designing and manufacturing a simple coconut peeler. The tool-making process includes forming, welding, and finishing. After running a proper testing of the tools, socialization was done to provide an explanation to the public about the functions and benefits, working principles, how to use, and maintainance of the tools. The product that had been finished are handed over to be used by the community. In addition, we also explain how to make the tools so that people can make their own if they need more. The result obtained from this activity is that the coconut peeler designed and made by students participating in KKN Period 93 can help the Batu Lungun village community, especially coconut farmers, in peeling coconuts from their gardens more efficiently and more safely. By using this tool, the process of peeling 1 coconut takes an average of 15 seconds.

Penyebaran Covid-19 dinyatakan telah masuk ke Kota Bengkulu pada tanggal 31 Maret 2020. Sejak saat itu berbagai upaya pencegahan penyebaran Covid-19 dilakukan, diantaranya memperketat pengawasan orang luar masuk ke wilayah Bengkulu terutama yang berasal dari zona merah Covid-19 dan sebaliknya serta mengimbau masyarakat untuk menjaga jarak antara 1-1,5 meter jika berinteraksi dengan orang lain. Berdasarkan situasi tersebut, Lurah Kandang Limun ingin mengetahui bagaimana kondisi masyarakat di Kandang Limun dalam masa pandemi ini. Hal itu dilakukan sebagai upaya pencegahan penularan Covid-19 serta merupakan dasar bagi Lurah untuk mengambil kebijakan-kebijakan untuk mencegah dan mengedukasi masyarakat sekitar kelurahan Kandang Limun. Oleh karena itu, kelurahan setempat meminta pendampingan dalam melakukan survey tentang kondisi masyarakat pada masa pandemi Covid-19. Melalui kegiatan ini diharapkan perangkat Kelurahan Kandang Limun mampu melakukan survey secara mandiri dan menyajikan informasi hasil survey dengan baik dan benar. Berdasarkan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini diperoleh bahwa masa pandemi Covid-19 ini cukup mempengaruhi aktifitas warga RT 03 Kelurahan Kandang Limun. Serta Perangkat RT 03 dan Kelurahan Kandang Limun dapat menyajikan data yang diperoleh dalam bentuk grafis yang mudah dipahami oleh warga.COMMUNITY CONDITION SURVEY ASSISTANCE IN PANDEMIC COVID-19 AT RT 03 KELURAHAN KANDANG LIMUN KOTA BENGKULU. The spread of Covid-19 was declared to have entered Bengkulu City on March 31, 2020. Since then various efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19 were carried out, including tightening the supervision of outsiders entering the Bengkulu area, especially those from the Covid-19 red zone and vice versa and appealing to community to maintain a distance of 1-1.5 meters when interacting with other people. Based on this situation, the Head of Kandang Limun Village wanted to know the condition of the people in Kandang Limun during this pandemic. This was done as an effort to prevent the transmission of Covid-19 and was the basis for the Village Head to take policies to prevent and educate the community around the Kandang Limun village. Therefore, the local urban village asked for assistance in conducting a survey about the condition of the community during the Covid-19 pandemic. Through this activity, it is hoped that the Kandang Limun sub-district apparatus will be able to carry out surveys independently and present survey information properly and correctly. Based on this community service activity, it was found that the Covid-19 pandemic had quite an impact on the activities of the residents of RT 03 Kandang Limun Village. As well as RT 03 and Kandang Limun sub-district devices, they can present the data obtained in graphic form that is easily understood by residents.

Indonesia bahkan dunia diresahkan oleh mewabahnya virus corona (Covid-19). Virus yang sudah meresahkan semua elemen masyarakat karena keganasannya yang bisa mengakibatkan kematian. Meskipun demikian, banyak masyarakat yang tidak mengikuti protokol kesehatan sesuai anjuran pemerintah. Ketika masyarakat tidak mengikuti anjuran pemerintah, berarti mereka tidak melakukan gerakan pencegahan penyebaran virus Covid-19. Bila gerakan pencegahan tidak dilakukan, artinya ini akan mempercepat proses penyebaran virus, dan protokol kesehatan yang disampaikan oleh pemerintah pun tidak akan efektif sebab masyarakat tidak mengimplementasikannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Selain itu, minimnya pengetahuan dan kewaspadaan masyarakat tentang virus ini menyebabkan setiap hari semakin bertambah dengan signifikan korban yang terinfeksi Covid-19. Sehingga, atas dasar tersebut, maka dilakukan penyuluhan pendampingan kepada masyarakat di RT 08 Gang Hidayah Kelurahan Rawa Makmur Kecamatan Muara Bangkahulu ini dalam upaya penanggulangan Covid-19 untuk meminimalisir jumlah korban Covid-19. COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES ASSISTANCE COUNSELING TO CONTROL COVID-19 IN RT 08 GANG HIDAYAH RAWA MAKMUR VILLAGE, BENGKULU CITY. Indonesia and even the world are troubled by the outbreak of the corona virus (Covid-19). A virus that has troubled all elements of society because of its ferocity which can lead to death. However, many people do not follow the health protocols recommended by the government. When people do not follow government recommendations, it means they are not carrying out a movement to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus. If the prevention movement is not carried out, this means that this will accelerate the process of spreading the virus, and the health protocols submitted by the government will not be effective because the community does not implement it in their daily lives. In addition, the lack of public knowledge and vigilance about this virus causes more and more victims to be infected with Covid-19 every day. So, on this basis, counseling was carried out to the community at RT 08 Gang Hidayah, Rawa Makmur Village, Muara Bangkahulu District in an effort to tackle Covid-19 to minimize the number of Covid-19 victims.

Program pengabdian dalam pelaksanaan KKN Mandiri 91 Universitas Bengkulu ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi kepada masyarakat tentang pentingnya menjaga kesehatan dan proteksi diri dari penularan virus Corona serta menjadikan masyarakat yang lebih produktif dengan cara melakukan pengembangan diri selama beraktivitas di rumah. Program yang dilaksanakan didasarkan pada kurangnya edukasi yang tepat sehingga banyak masyarakat yang menyalahartikan dan menyalahgunakan informasi yang beredar. Selain itu, physical distancing menyebabkan terbatasnya aktivitas dan mobilitas sehingga banyak masyarakat yang merasa jenuh dalam menjalankan aktivitasnya di rumah. Maka dari itu, dilaksanakanlah program kerja yang dijalankan dengan metode luar dan dalam jaringan yaitu pembuatan artikel opini yang berjudul “Dilema saat Olahraga: Pakai Masker atau Tidak?”, pamflet New Normal Starter Pack, dan video informatif yang berjudul “Produktif #DiRumahAja 101: 5 Website Online Learning untuk Meningkatkan Skill” dan “Produktif #DiRumahAja 101: 5 Aplikasi Legal untuk Membaca Buku Favoritmu”. Hasil dari pengabdian menunjukkan dampak positif bagi penerima informasi yang umumnya adalah pengguna internet dan pengunjung Pasar Tradisional Modern Kota Bengkulu (khusus untuk pembagian pamflet New Normal Starter Pack)FORGING YOURSELF WITH EDUCATION DURING THE PANDEMIC COVID-19. This community service program in implementing KKN Mandiri 91 Universitas Bengkulu aims to provide education to the public about the importance of maintaining health and self-protection from transmission of the Corona virus and making people more productive by developing themselves during activities at home. The program implemented is based on a lack of proper education so that many people misinterpret and misuse the information circulating. In addition, physical distancing causes limited activity and mobility so that many people feel bored in carrying out their activities at home. Program yang dilaksanakan didasarkan pada kurangnya edukasi yang tepat sehingga banyak masyarakat yang menyalahartikan dan menyalahgunakan informasi yang beredar. Selain itu, physical distancing menyebabkan terbatasnya aktivitas dan mobilitas sehingga banyak masyarakat yang merasa jenuh dalam menjalankan aktivitasnya di rumah. Maka dari itu, dilaksanakanlah program kerja yang dijalankan dengan metode luar dan dalam jaringan yaitu pembuatan artikel opini yang berjudul “Dilema saat Olahraga: Pakai Masker atau Tidak?”, pamflet New Normal Starter Pack, dan video informatif yang berjudul “Produktif #DiRumahAja 101: 5 Website Online Learning untuk Meningkatkan Skill” dan “Produktif #DiRumahAja 101: 5 Aplikasi Legal untuk Membaca Buku Favoritmu”. Hasil dari pengabdian menunjukkan dampak positif bagi penerima informasi yang umumnya adalah pengguna internet dan pengunjung Pasar Tradisional Modern Kota Bengkulu (khusus untuk pembagian pamflet New Normal Starter Pack)FORGING YOURSELF WITH EDUCATION DURING THE PANDEMIC COVID-19. This community service program in implementing KKN Mandiri 91 Universitas Bengkulu aims to provide education to the public about the importance of maintaining health and self-protection from transmission of the Corona virus and making people more productive by developing themselves during activities at home. The program implemented is based on a lack of proper education so that many people misinterpret and misuse the information circulating. In addition, physical distancing causes limited activity and mobility so that many people feel bored in carrying out their activities at home. Therefore, a work program carried out with external and network methods was carried out, namely the production of an opinion article entitled \" Dilema saat Olahraga: Pakai Masker atau Tidak?\", The New Normal Starter Pack pamphlet, and an informative video entitled \" Produktif #DiRumahAja 101: 5 Website Online Learning untuk Meningkatkan Skill \"and\" Produktif #DiRumahAja 101: 5 Aplikasi Legal untuk Membaca Buku Favoritmu\". Indonesia saat ini sedang menghadapi wabah virus Corona SARS-CoV-2 atau yang lebih dikenal dengan pandemi Covid-19 atau Virus Corona. Virus ini menimbulkan dampak yang sangat luar biasa terhadap masyarakat, mulai dari ekonomi, tatanan sosial hingga keselamatan dan nyawa. Kebijakan pemerintah Indonesia terkait dengan penanganan penyebaran virus ini dengan cara melakukan social distancing dan physical distancing. Saat ini pemerintah telah mengeluarkan kebijakan baru dengan membiarkan masyarakatnya melakukan aktivitas di luar rumah seperti biasanya atau dikenal dengan istilah New Normal. Hal ini dapat berdampak terhadap masyarakat yang memiliki kemungkinan besar dapat terjangkit virus ini. Pada saat ini imun tubuh masyarakat haruslah dalam kondisi yang baik dan masyarakat harus menjaga kebersihan lingkungan serta tubuhnya. Untuk menjaga kebersihan dapat dengan membiasakan untuk mencuci tangan dengan sabun atau dengan menggunakan hand sanitizer dan selalu menggunakan masker ketika akan beraktivitas diluar rumah. PRODUCTION OF CLOTH MASK PRODUCTION AND HAND SANITIZER TO TREAT THE TRANSMISSION OF COVID-19 IN RT 06 KEBUN KENANGA VILLAGE, BENGKULU CITY. Indonesia is currently facing an outbreak of the Corona SARS-CoV-2 virus or better known as the Covid-19 pandemic or Corona Virus. This virus has had a tremendous impact on society, from the economy, social order to safety and lives. The Indonesian government policy is related to handling the spread of this virus by conducting social distancing and physical distancing. Currently the government has issued a new policy by allowing people to carry out activities outside the home as usual or known as the New Normal. This can have an impact on people who have a high probability of contracting this virus. At this time the people's immune system must be in good condition and the community must maintain the cleanliness of the environment and their bodies. In order to maintain cleanliness, people can get used to washing your hands with soap or by using a hand sanitizer and always using a mask when you are going to do activities outside the home.

Akhir-akhir ini masyarakat dunia tengah diguncang dengan virus yang sudah ditetapkan menjadi pandemi dunia, ialah novel coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). Maka dari itu, program kerja yang diusulkan pada KKN Mandiri UNIB 91 ini berfokus pada membantu pemerintah untuk memaksimalkan upaya pencegahan penyebaran lebih luas. Metode pelaksanaan KKN Mandiri UNIB 91 ini sudah dilakukan secara berkala selama 5 minggu dan disebarluaskan melalui media sosial serta mengirimkan kepada masyarakat Kelurahan Tanjung Agung. Pelaksanaannya mulai dari persiapan hingga laporan mingguan yang dilaporkan setiap akhir pekan. Luaran yang dihasilkan dari program kerja yang diusulkan berupa masyarakat bisa paham protokol kesehatan penanganan Covid-19 serta bagaimana cara meningkatkan imunitas tubuh. Selain itu, akan ada produk berupa empat video, tiga leaflet dan tiga puluh bungkus jahe instan yang akan dibagikan ke warga Kelurahan Tanjung Agung Kota Bengkulu.EFFORTS TO CONTROL THE SPREAD OF THE NOVEL CORONAVIRUS DISEASE (Covid-19) PLANE IN TANJUNG AGUNG SUB-DISTRICT, SUNGAI SERUT DISTRICT, BENGKULU CITY. Recently, the world community is being shaken by a virus that has been declared a world pandemic, namely the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). Therefore, the proposed work program at the UNIB 91 Mandiri KKN focuses on helping the government to prevent wider spread. The method of implementing KKN Mandiri UNIB 91 is carried out regularly for 5 weeks and disseminated through social media and sending to the community of Tanjung Agung Village. The implementation starts from preparation to weekly reports which are reported every weekend. The output resulting from the proposed work program is that the public can understand the health protocol for handling Covid-19 and how to increase immunity. In addition, there will be products in the form of four videos, three leaflets and thirty packs of instant ginger which will be distributed to residents of Tanjung Agung Village, Bengkulu City.
