Este ensayo trata de situar el problema del servicio militar en el pensamiento de Jacques Derrida. La primera parte explora esta cuestión en el seminario La bestia y el soberano, entre el Leviatán de Hobbes y tres fábulas clásicas. La segunda parte solicita algunas referencias clásicas como Rousseau, Heidegger y Renan, con el fin de cuestionar la conscripción tal y como está ejemplarmente implicada en la Francia contemporánea. La tercera y última parte convoca a Kant, la Iglesia Católica y el problema de la pena de muerte para esbozar la función del servicio militar desde el punto de vista de la deconstrucción del cosmopolitismo.

Este articulo, basado en una interpretacion personal del mito griego de Eros y Psique, explora el sentimiento amoroso a partir de las nociones de mirada y alteridad. La tesis central es que la pasion erotica emerge primordialmente a traves del sentido de la vista: la mirada se dirige hacia el ser amado y va acompanada de un impulso de union que es descrito como deseo de alteridad.

Sahlins argues that western self-understanding has revolved around the figure of homo economicus, a manifestation of a supposed universal human nature, thus hiding its cultural and particular origin, while restricting other possible perspectives about the human being and society. The current economic and political tendencies promote a return of an individualistic conception, which needs to be confroncted from ethics, due to its social and moral implications. The aim is to evaluate the contributions offered bu Sahlin´s approach to a critical consideration of current economic dynamics and their ideological support, based on an ethically oriented understanding of the human being.

Considering the objections that in the seventies led Michel Foucault to take distance of revolution as a paradigm of all forms of resistance, this paper explores the “return of revolution” as a positive figure in his last lectures. Taking the project of studying the revolutionary subjectivity that the professor formulated but left undeveloped, we reconstruct the mentions of the topic in his courses between 1980 and 1984, and we clarify as a result the consideration of revolution as an ascetic figure. Recovering Foucault´s interpretation of Cynicism as the matrix of the activist life, we suggest to understand it as the elaboration of a materialist ethics, which explains revolution as an askesis and finds its realization in present experiences.

This text presents an investigation of social interaction taking place in the public space of Placa del Sol (Barcelona), conducted in terms of the conceptual framework offered by the thought of Jurgen Habermas regarding "public opinion" and "communicative rationality". After giving an account of the theoretical and methodological aspects which have informed the study, the article focuses on presenting the findings in concordance with the Frankfurtian philosopher’s conception of ‘communicative action’. Lastly, the studied human activity of the public sphere constitutes a foundation from which a discussion of ideal of a civic and politically active citizenship defended by Jurgen Harbermas and Hannah Arendt.

In a more approximate way than exhaustive, this article analyzes the Judith Butler's most significant texts in order to offer a non-groundbreaking vision of her work. The so-called two stages of the performative philosophy may be understood as two moments that, though distinguishable, are permeated by the same purpose; the first texts have already shown this purpose, namely, countering the phenomenon of the oppression by means of the widening or dilation, of the concept of humanity. A dilation that emerges when we reject the traditional and hierarchic binary oppositions and that turns the recognition into a vital need. Here is the main theme that, beyond the theoretical displacements, it harmonizes with the philosophy of Butler.

This article explores, on the one hand, the racist and dynamic practices of social exclusion faced by Latin American women residing in the city of Barcelona and, on the other hand, how this affects their migration. The theoretical framework was structured around racism, securitization of borders and feminization of migrations. The methodology was defined from a qualitative approach through semi-structured interviews. The analysis was made from the paradigm of intersectionality and it was systematized from three dimensions: Migration, Racism and Exclusion, which allowed to demonstrate the articulation of a system that, by imitating the exercise of rights, hinders the future of the collective of study.
