: Aquaculture is carried out in controlled environments to guarantee the health, growth, and survival of aquatic species, so it is essential to monitor water quality parameters. We designed and implemented a system based on the Internet of Things for monitoring dissolved oxygen and temperature in Amazonian fish larviculture. We based the design of the architecture on four layers: data acquisition, communication, cloud server and application. We carried out the experimental tests with the data collected by the system during seven days of culture of larvae of the species Piaractus brachypomus (paco) in the aquaculture center “La Cachuela”. The values obtained for dissolved oxygen varied between 7.43 ± 0.04 and 7.83 ± 0.02 mg L -1 ; regarding the water temperature, it fluctuated between 19.59 ± 0.45 and 25.45 ± 0.11 °C. We concluded that the system developed for monitoring dissolved oxygen and water temperature displays data obtained in real time, in both cases the values are within the tolerable ranges for the cultivation of this species.

: The Whitsun cactus ( Schlumbergera gaertneri ), native to Brazil, is used as ornamental plant worldwide. Symptoms of anthracnose were identified in plants cultivated in southern Brazil, causing the loss of ornamental value of the affected plants. Thus, the objective of this work was to isolate, characterize and identify the causal agent of anthracnose in S. gaertneri , through morphological and molecular characters. For the pathogenicity test, seedlings were injured with a toothpick and inoculated with a conidia suspension, while the morphological characterization of the causal agent was performed in Mathur culture medium. The Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS), Actin, β-tubulin, Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase and Calmodulin regions were used to molecularly identify the species. The isolates obtained were pathogenic to S. gaertneri , presenting morphological characteristics compatible with species of the genus Colletotrichum . By sequencing the genomic regions, Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, Calmodulin and β-tubulin we identified Colletotrichum karsti and C. siamensis as causal agents of anthracnose in S. gaertneri .

: The use of mulch in the soil attenuates saline stress in corn plants. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of irrigation with brackish water in soil under different plant mulches on the productive performance of corn. The study was carried out under field conditions, at the Piroás experimental farm at the Universidade da Integração Internacional da Lusofonia Afro-Brasileira, UNILAB, Redenção, Ceará, Brazil, from August to November 2020. The design was in a 5 × 3 factorial scheme, with four replications, the first factor being the electrical conductivity of the water, in which A1, A2, A3, A4, and A5, refers to 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0 dS m -1 , respectively, and the second factor the different types of mulch (no mulch - NM; mulch with banana leaves - MBL, and mulch with spontaneous plants - MSP. The following were evaluated: ear mass with and without straw, mass of 1,000 grains, length and diameter of the ear, and yield. Saline stress reduces the mass of 1,000 grains, the length and diameter of the ear of corn, the mass of the ear with and without straw in the presence mulch of weeds and banana leaves. The use of mulch of weeds and banana leaf mulch is more efficient for a smaller reduction in the weight of 1,000 grains compared to the control treatment (without mulch). Banana leaves and spontaneous plants associated with water of 1.0 and 3.0 dS m -1 enabled higher yield compared to the treatment without mulch.

: UV radiation use is currently receiving attention due to concerns about its potential positive or negative effects on the physiological responses of plants, so the goal of this study was to evaluate the influence of natural and artificial ultraviolet radiation (UV-B and UV-C) on soybean seed germination. Initially, the seeds were exposed to UV radiation for different periods of time (0, 1, 2, 4, and 8 hours), with a radiation intensity of 2.5 W m -2 . They were sown on germitest paper and stored in a Biochemical Oxygen Demand chamber set at 25 °C and a 12-hour photoperiod. Tests were conducted for germination (at 8 days), first count (at 5 days), length, and dry mass of seedlings. The results indicated that exposure to UV-B and UV-C (from 1 hour - 9000 J m -2 ) light reduced the germination percentage, the seedling length, and the dry mass of the soybean seedlings. The decrease in root length was observed after 2 (UV-C) and 4 hours (UV-B) of light exposure. It was concluded that, under the conditions of this study, exposing soybean seeds to UV-B and UV-C radiation influenced the percentage of germination and initial seedling growth .
