On the Obfuscation of Image Sensor Fingerprints 图像传感器指纹的混淆研究

To date, there have been several attempts to utilize sensor noise for device identification and authentication. Most of these developments have taken place in mobile image sensors, accelerometers, and microphones. The ramifications of isolating sensor fingerprints is that any third party, utilizing multiple sources, may effectively track the mobile movements of a user without the use of cookies. Sensor fingerprints, especially that of images, could pose quite a challenge to applications and websites that promise online anonymity in picture sharing. This paper describes the threat potential as well as the required steps to remedy said vulnerability. It then suggests the potential for widespread implementation in a more diverse span of fields.

An Elliptic Curve Algorithm for Iris Pattern Recognition 椭圆曲线虹膜模式识别算法

This paper presents an iris recognition system with a self-developed elliptic curve algorithm or hash. The system was written in Python with the OpenCV library. This iris recognition system is faster than standard systems because the extraction of the iris was done on a grayscale image. To test the elliptic curve hash, iris recognition system, and computation time, images from the UBIRIS database were run through the system, and their hashes were collected. Statistical analysis shows that the elliptic curve hash has more entropy and is quicker than the standard MD5 and SHA-1 hashes at an alpha of 0:01. Furthermore, the system has an accuracy rate of 99:5%.

Collaborative Community Builder: A Digital Platform for Crowd-Sourcing a Community Vision 协作社区构建者:一个众包社区愿景的数字平台

As our economy expands to the digital realm, rural communities are presented with unprecedented development opportunities, including the ability to participate in industries and sectors that would not otherwise be available. To effectively participate in the digital economy, rural communities need to develop a digital vision based on the preferences of the individuals in the community. Rather than considering only the preferences of select community members, we would ideally be able to develop a community vision that accounts for all the members' preferences. In practice, this goal poses many logistical and financial obstacles. To overcome this problem, we present the Collaborative Community Builder (CCB) -- an online system that enables community members to express their vision and view the aggregate community vision. CCB provides additional data analytic features to help community leaders and planners better understand the preferences of the members in their own community. This work suggests that CCB offers rural communities a feasible way of developing a community vision on a digital platform.

SONET over Ethernet SONET over Ethernet

Today's common and extensively used MAC layers are SONET and Ethernet. They serve different networks and are incompatible. It is necessary to interface the two networks since they may be part of the route used by data. This paper integrates SONET over Ethernet thus creating compatibility between these two protocols without going through unnecessary conversions. Simulation shows that this New Layer 2 Network improves the performance and brings added benefits.

Decision Support in Context of a Standard-Based Usability Evaluation 基于标准的可用性评估中的决策支持

A usability evaluation based on international standards can be a challenging task. There is a large number of (potentially) useful standard documents and the theoretical knowledge represented by these sources has to be translated into practical solutions. As a part of a European project our approach enables involved end users to find appropriate usability standards for evaluating specific technologies. As a consequence a technology can be assessed regarding its current context of use and intended goals which are best known by the end users themselves. To make this possible, several standards were categorized using a decision tree. Additionally a scoring system was developed that rates these documents with respect to their clarity and applicability. To reduce the gap between theory and practice, additional information on how to use a specific document is provided.

Growing Software Applications by Incremental Development of Heterogeneous Micro-Applications Using Cellular Regeneration Concepts 通过使用细胞再生概念的异构微应用程序的增量开发来增长软件应用

In this paper, the concepts of growing software applications by incremental development of heterogeneous micro-applications using cellular regeneration concepts are explored. The proposal is the move from homogeneous monolithic architectures to heterogeneous micro-architectures, to allow for application evolution. The focus is on growing legacy applications that will evolve to remain healthy. Cellular regeneration concepts are used to show that applications should always be regenerating, like cells living in an organism, to become resilient to events that cause disturbance and damage. Understanding regeneration can give insights into growing computational systems that are more resilient. A definition for micro-architectures and comparisons on how such an architecture differs from typical monolithic architectures are given. Concepts to allow applications to adapt to new and changing business and scientific computational needs are designed. Development and operation complexity is addressed to handle the increase in activity and tasks. We conclude with future states for micro-applications.

Processing of Metadata on Multimedia Using ExifTool: A Programming Approach in Python 用ExifTool处理多媒体元数据:一种Python编程方法

The exchange image file format (Exif) standard defines the specification for how to store metadata and ancillary tags for multimedia files. These tags are useful in documenting information about how the content in the multimedia file was collected, stored, and modified. The list of available tags are constantly being updated, with one of the most notable updates being the Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates being automatically applied by digital recording equipment. The ExifTool is one of several systems that are available for reading and modifying these metadata. This research provides historical insight into the use and application of Exif data, its manipulation, and evolution. A programming example using the ExifTool application and application programming interface (API) is also provided to demonstrate how the Exif toolset can be integrated into systems for scraping websites and reporting on specific tags that are contained within the images extracted from the website.

Influence of Wavelets and Boundary Conditions on the Diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis Using Artificial Neural Networks 小波和边界条件对人工神经网络诊断多发性硬化症的影响

Artificial neural networks with radial basis functions are used to diagnose patients with multiple sclerosis. But the results of the training of this type of network varies greatly with the wavelet selected to compress the data and with the boundary conditions applied to the signal to compensate for the usage of a closed interval. In this paper we compare the results obtained for several wavelets when several boundary conditions are used to extend the signal. The most significant coefficients were extracted following the "Largest Coefficient" criterion. The training process used the left-out method. We did not change the network architecture. The network was trained 20 times for each case, starting each time with a different set of random values. We collected the averages of each of them. Our results showed a remarkable difference between a few of the cases, were the network did a perfect job, and the rest of them, which gave conventional results. The excellent results were obtained by a combination of specific wavelets and particular boundary conditions. The specific wavelets were either of the Biorthogonal Wavelets or Reverse Biorthogonal wavelets family. The particular boundary conditions were the ones obtained by extending the signals using any one of the following approaches: antisymmetric half point padding, smooth padding of order zero or zero padding.

Educating the STEM Leaders of Tomorrow 培养未来的STEM领导者

In this paper, we discuss our contribution to the field of computer science and education technology through various projects we have designed and implemented at Auburn University. We begin by introducing a very successful computer proficiency course called Personal Computer Applications (PCA). The goal of this course is not only to impart useful computer skills to the students but also to attract them to computer technology so that they can solve problems and make better decisions in their day-to-day lives. Then, we discuss two more courses designed and offered by us in the area of web development. This paper particularly discusses our unique teaching methodologies and how these techniques led to the success of our courses. Finally, we discuss our contribution in introducing young kids to the world of programming, and encouraging women participation in technology. We achieve these two goals through our K-12 camps offered on Auburn University campus.

FPGA Based Wireless Emergency Medical System for Developing Countries 基于FPGA的发展中国家无线急救医疗系统

In developing countries like India the translational gap between research development & implementation to routine clinical applications is high. To bridge this gap, a research methodology related to the development of emergency medical system & implementation of pre-hospital care is proposed. In order to provide comfort & convenience to first responders & paramedics, system is highly portable due to its light-weight The present work explores the use of low cost FPGA-based medical system in emergency medical situations where high processing speed is required. The design system incorporates the FPGA, user interface components and wireless connectivity is provided with an extra module. Xilinx's Spartan 3E starter kit by Digilent is chosen for the development of proposed medical system. FPGA-based designs offer a lot of flexibility in terms of updating the system & can be transformed to larger and newer FPGAs as the market demands. The proposed system can become one of the major constituents of the EMS (Emergency Medical Services) as it has the unique feature of monitoring multiple EKG waveforms which is not available in conventional hardware design [1].
