This chapter reflects on the author’s experience of Lundahl and Seitl’s Symphony of a Missing Room as a jumping off point to consider the relationship between spectators and their experience of theatre and performance. In particular, it explore the nature of the exchange between audience and performance, asking how spectators actively participate in and with their own experiences. In doing so, it conceptualises the notion of the committed return , described as a process by which spectators enter into a participatory dialogue with their own experiences
