: Real-time PCR is currently one of the most powerful molecular approaches and is widely used in molecular biology diagnostics. Today, many real-time PCR systems differ in the thermal block, the excitation source, the fluorescence detection system, and the data analysis software. Therefore, using different systems may affect the detection limit of biological samples. Our study aims to optimize the threshold to ensure the amplification efficiency (E) and correlation coefficient (R2) of the standard curve used to quantify LINE-1 methylation on three real-time PCR systems, including: Applied Biosystems™ 7500, QuantStudio™5 Dx; and abCyclerQ (AIT Biotech). We determined a proper threshold to build a standard curve on the three systems, which ensures the correlation coefficient (R2) and the amplification efficiency (R2 > 0.999, E ≥ 95%). Therefore, it is possible to use interchangeably in Applied Biosystems™ 7500, QuantStudio™5 Dx, and abCyclerQ (AIT Biotech) in LINE-1 methylation analysis.

Many Asian countries (China, Vietnam, India, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, etc.) have well-developed traditional medicine backgrounds due to their rich historical traditions and favorable natural conditions. In the development process of these nations, folk medicine has played an important role in people’s healthcare, especially in the primary healthcare system, due to their availability and suitability for the people’s demands with rational expense. WHO recognizes the role of traditional medicine in people’s healthcare and encourages its member nations to enhance the role of traditional medicine in their healthcare systems. On that basis, many countries have developed policies to heritage, enhance, and strengthen the use of traditional medicine in medical practice. Among these policies, contents related to inaugurating a list of traditional medicines reimbursed by the Health Insurance Authority play a very important role. This study gives an overview of the experiences and processes in establishing the List of traditional medicines reimbursed by Health Insurance Authorities from China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

Currently, obesity is one of the most common diseases and accounts for a high rate in many countries. Pancreatic lipase (PL) is the major enzyme secreted by the pancreas that has a direct effect on the formation of monoglycerides and free fatty acids. Inhibition of pancreatic lipase enzyme helps to break down fat, reduce kCal, and lose weight. Coumarins are a group of compounds that are active in obesity. Therefore, our study aimed to evaluate and screen coumarin compounds effective in inhibiting lipase enzyme by molecular docking method. As a result, we obtained eight compounds showing lower binding energy values than the positive control Orlistat and satisfying drug-like properties when evaluating the Lipinski rule of five. After that, these compounds continued to analyze pharmacokinetic and toxicological properties (ADMET) to obtain three compounds with the best results: Peucenidin, Edultin, and Xanthalin with good intestinal absorption, well distributed to tissues, metabolized by the liver, hepatic metabolism, renal excretion, and low toxicity. Therefore, further in vivo and in vitro studies are needed to develop drugs for the treatment of obesity.

The use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which has the ability to hasten the repair of soft tissue, cartilage, and bone, has revolutionized musculoskeletal medicine. Applications include treatment of osteoarthritis, tendinopathy, chondropathy, acute and chronic soft tissue injuries, muscle or ligament tears, as well as enhancement of healing of cartilage joints. With the ability to promote safe and natural healing, PRP is considered a promising alternative to surgery. Recently, there is an emerging literature on the beneficial effects of PRP for chronic non-healing tendon injuries and cartilage degeneration. This review article provides an overview of recent basic science and clinical studies on the applications of PRP to the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries.

The pharmacokinetics of clarithromycin (CLR) conventional tablets (T1/2: 5-7 h) demand 2 or 3 doses per day, which is inconvenient for patients. Therefore, a sustained-release CLR tablet is necessary. Based on Klacid MR tablets (AbbVie) composed of citric acid and sodium alginate (Na-ALG), we developed a 24-hour extended-release CLR tablet. Although citric acid had a significant effect on the CLR release profile, the incompatibility of citric acid and CLR was reported (via FT-IR and stability study). Based on the function of Na-ALG in controlling the release and reducing the incompatibility of citric acid and CLR, a process (CLR and citric acid were granulated separately) was proposed. The final tablet formulation showed 1-month stability and dissolution similarity to standard tablets in pH 6.8 medium (f2 > 50).

Self-emulsifying drug delivery systems (SEDDS) have the potential to enhance the bioavailability and therapeutic impact of active ingredients that are poorly water-soluble, low pemeability and unstable. The active ingredient, oil, surfactant, co-surfactant and/or co-solvent are the main elements of SEDDS. Supersaturable SEDDS have been developed to increase the efficiency of active ingredient loading by incorporating precipitation inhibitors (PIs) into SEDDS that help maintain the supersaturated state, preventing drug precipitation in the gastrointestinal tract. Due to these benefits, SEDDS have been studied and applied in drugs and cosmetics in various dosage forms including solidification (S-SEDDS) by different techniques to create powder, granules, pellets to apply to tablets, hard capsules as well as soft capsules, lotions, and some other semi-solid dosage forms... Prenatal screening is a crucial method employed during the fetal stage to detect and intervene early, thereby ensuring the health of newborn babies. This approach serves to enhance the overall quality of the population and mitigate the severe consequences associated with birth defects. Prenatal screening encompasses various techniques, including epidemiological investigations, fetal imaging ultrasound, maternal blood screening, and amniotic fluid screening by karotype technique. The process involves extracting fetal chromosomes from cells present in the amniotic fluid, followed by cell culture and hypotonic treatment. Subsequently, these chromosomes are stained with G-band and examined under a microscope. The results obtained from prenatal screening in a sample of 121 patients, with an average age of 32 ± 6.69, indicated that 21% of pregnant women had experienced a miscarriage, 23.1% had previously given birth to a malformed baby, 8.3% of families had a genetic disease, and 5% of parents exhibited chromosomal abnormalities. Among the 51 patients screened using the Double test, 26.45% of fetuses exhibited a high risk of birth defects, whereas the Tripple test identified a high risk in 9.09% of the 19 cases. Chromosome analysis of the 121 cases revealed that 15.7% of the fetuses exhibited chromosomal abnormalities, with Edwards syndrome accounting for 5.78%, Down syndrome accounting for 4.96%, chromosomal abnormalities accounting for 3.30%, Patau syndrome accounting for 0.83%, and Turner syndrome accounting for 0.83%. Age over 35 years (r = 0.08 and OR = 0.63), history of miscarriage (r = 0.05 and OR = 1.38), family history of hereditary disease (r = 0.04 and OR = 1.38), and parental chromosomal mutations (r = 0.01 and OR = 1.08) were all found to have a strong positive correlation with fetal abnormalities. The population pharmacokinetic model of ethambutol with covariates was built from data from 136 pulmonary tuberculosis patients recruited from 3 hospitals: Hanoi Lung Hospital, Central Hospital 74, and Central Lung Hospital. Blood samples were obtained on the 10-14th day after initiation of treatment for plasma drug analysis by LC-MS/MS method. Asystasia gangetica (L.) T. Anderson is an edible vegetable, cultivated in Vietnam. This plant was reported to contain a diverse chemical composition including megastimans, flavonoids, iridoids, and phenylpropanoid glycosides. It also exhibited many interesting biological activities such as antibacterial, antifungal, antihypertensive, anti-asthmatic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, tyrosinase inhibitory, antioxidant, and antidiabetic effects. However, so far, the studies on this species in Vietnam are relatively few. In this study, six compounds including lutein (1), verbascoside (2), indole-3-carboxylic acid (3), 3α,24-dihydroxy-olean-12-en-28-oic acid (4), ursolic acid (5), and pomolic acid (6) were isolated from the ethyl acetate fraction of the aerial parts of A. gangetica. Their structures were identified based on the NMR and MS spectroscopic data and comparison with those in the literature. Four compounds (3-6) have been isolated from this plant for the first time.

The purpose of this study was to develop an HPLC method for the simultaneous quantification of rosmarinic acid and sinensetin in Herba Orthosiphonis spiralis. The chromatographic separation was performed on an Ascentis®C8 column (250 × 4.6 mm, 5 µm) using a gradient elution mode with acetonitrile and water containing 0.1% formic acid as mobile phase. The flow rate was maintained at 0.6 mL/min. The injection volume was 10 mL. The column temperature was set at 40 °C. Analytes were detected by a PDA detector at a wavelength of 329 nm. The method was validated for specificity, system suitability, linearity, accuracy, precision, detection limit, and quantitation limit according to ICH and AOAC. The results of validation showed that the method met all the acceptance criteria and was suitable for simultaneous quantification of rosmarinic acid and sinensetin in Herba Orthosiphonis spiralis.
建立了一种高效液相色谱法同时定量测定正虹吸草中迷迭香酸和蛇鼻塞素含量的方法。色谱分离采用Ascentis®C8色谱柱(250 × 4.6 mm, 5µm),以乙腈和含有0.1%甲酸的水为流动相,采用梯度洗脱模式。流速保持0.6 mL/min。进样量为10 mL,柱温为40℃。用PDA检测器检测,波长为329 nm。根据ICH和AOAC对该方法进行特异性、系统适用性、线性度、准确度、精密度、检出限和定量限验证。验证结果表明,该方法符合所有验收标准,适用于同时测定正吸草中迷迭香酸和蛇鼻塞素的含量。
