Due to the intermittent criterion and fluctuation of renewable resources, the combination of different renewable energy systems with energy storage system can improve the production quality and meet the load demand. This study focuses on a hybrid PV-CSP systems coupled with a thermal storage system (TES) to feed a baseload demand. A Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique is implemented to minimize the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) considering as a constraint the effectiveness of system and to determine the optimal size of PV-CSP plant by determining the PV capacity, the CSP capacity, storage size and solar multiple. The results show that the inclusion of effectiveness of system as a constraint has a significant impact on the minimum cost and optimal decision variables. This study is investigated in Oarazazate (Morocco) and can be applied to all other locations in the world.

This paper presented research small- and mini-hydroelectric power plants as an effective source of compensation for instability of non-guaranteed renewable energy sources (RES) power plants. HPPs play the main role for balancing the power system operation mode. To somehow compensate for the growth of RES generation in the power system, we can forced to start hydropower plants as a consumer in the pump mode. This paper investigated the trends of installed capacity hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) for World and for Ukraine. Also, it was considered the dynamics of change of the annual amount of hydroelectric power generation (HPG) on data International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) for World and for Ukraine. Is shown the classification of HPPs on value green tariff and installed capacity. Observed the distribution of the daily power generation during the 2019 year by typical mini-HPP. Compared the experimental and calculation value power generation by typical mini-HPP in 2019. Researched of influence the meteorological factors on power generation of mini-hydropower plants using Spearman's rank correlation. Proposed for HPG used cascade small- and mini HPPs.

Modeling of the magnetic field generated by overhead power lines with different type of arrangements of wires and with different space-time characteristic carried out. Two degree of freedom robust system of active shielding of magnetic field for such magnetic field synthesized. The synthesis is based on the multi-criteria game decision, in which the payoff vector is calculated on the basis of the Maxwell equations quasi-stationary approximation solution. The game decision is based on the stochastic particles multiswarm optimization algorithms. It is shown, that for effective shielding of the magnetic field generated by power lines with horizontal arrangement of wires, single shielding winding is sufficient. However, with a triangular arrangement of wires, two shielding windings are required. It is show that synthesized system of active shielding is reduced magnetic flux density up to the sanitary standards of Ukraine on reference levels of power frequency magnetic fields in shielding space located near the overhead power lines.

A study was made of the power loss in the active elements (transistors, diodes) of several circuit designs of a multiphase isolated DC-DC converter with the number of phases from two to five in the range of multiple changes in the supply voltage. The switching processes in a multiphase circuit with a different number of phases on the intervals of the operating values of the current pulse duty ratio are considered. The conditions for comparing the power of losses in the active elements of circuit designs are determined. Comparison of the power of losses in the designs is proposed by the equivalent element method, which ensures the equivalence of the schemes. Analytical expressions of the current shape coefficient are given, as well as analytical and graphical dependences of the relative power loss in transistors and diodes for a fixed and variable supply voltage. A comparative analysis of the power loss in the elements identified the most effective schemes of three and four phase versions of the converter.

This paper is concerned with the implementation of the concept of automated synthesis of electric machine mathematical models, depending on design and type of the latter. The proposed method of the mathematical model synthesis is based on the provisions of the object-oriented design theory, which is widely used in the field of information technology. A generalized electromechanical energy converter, a squirrel-cage induction motor, a synchronous motor, a DC motor and a transformer are considered as a reference. Due to the application of the object-oriented concept of hierarchy and inheritance, each individual electric machine is generated from a generalized electromechanical energy converter with the simultaneous synthesis of equations describing electrodynamic transients in the form of a product of parameters and currents matrix. It is proposed to use the practical application of the technique under consideration in the optimization of electrical machines in dynamic operating modes during the computer-aided design process.

The article is devoted to the use of a promising traction electric drive on shunting diesel locomotives. The current state of rolling stock along with a significant increase in the cost of energy sources requires measures to improve the energy efficiency of rail traction. One such measure is a using of power switched reluctance traction actuator, which has a large number of advantages. The paper presents a developed physical model of the operation of such an electric drive as traction for railway transport.

The main issues of ensuring the electromagnetic compatibility in local electric networks under distributed generation development are considered, in particular, in the micro-grids with embedded renewable energy sources, that use solar and wind energy, as well as energy storage systems with bidirectional energy converters. The main ways of development of local systems with artificial neutral, which allows to increase the reliability of power supply and improve power quality at the points of connection of loads, that are sensitive to the voltage distortion, are proposed and investigated.
