Modern society requires new demands on the personality: knowledge of key competencies, communicativeness, purposefulness, creativity, critical thinking, and autonomy in guidance of the information flow. The problem, addressed in the report, is the need to change the goals and the content of education, the innovation of educational resources, and educational technologies aimed at heuristic learning, constructive learning and learning through research (The Theory of Solving Inventory Problems – TSIP, Montessori Pedagogy, Jump Math and others). This change also affects mathematics lesson as a basic form of education. The pedagogical ideas of the TSIP are systematized in the article. A model of a modern mathematics lesson for the 6th grade, based on the TSIP pedagogy, was developed, and it is aimed at developing the universal learning activities of the students.

This paper focuses on the key role of IT training in digital competence. It is about methodological aspects of studying spreadsheets on the topic “Table information processing” in secondary schools, the learning objectives and the specifics of the tasks they provide, the sustainability of the skills and the necessary competencies for their application in solving different problems. The results of a large-scale study involving 232 high school students and 94 university students have been presented, which show the durability of students’ knowledge and skills in solving problems and tasks with the help of spreadsheets in different spheres of public life. The aim of the authors is to show and analyze the results of the research.

On the basis of the latest developments, an improved model of underwater communication channel is presented. A set of programs to allow calculation of the basic parameters of the channel over a wide range of parameters has been created. Mathematical models for calculating the spreading factor are developed. A process of creating the model is reviewed, so that the resulting model should become easily expandable. Userfriendly information-transfer interface is set between the programs and input and output data files.

The current research focuses on using computer software as a help for preparing, printing and evaluating paper-and-pencil tests. The practical realization includes a database design and a web-based frontend for users of three different roles with upgrading permissions. The proposed software can be used as an effort to prevent the common cheating when students pass their tests between each other by implementing a strategy for different problems with shuffled options to different students.

Expert Knowledge Content Database (EKCD) contains small or medium amount of data but its data content is valuable, which can be determined by expert work. Expert work can be a complex measurement, estimation, or data integration. Database design and validation was analyzed in a case study with EKCD Eulakes – Phytoplankton database of Lake Stechlin. Different data quality metrics was calculated and evaluated, and the content based inconsistency was evaluated. In the conclusion a schema is given for helping the design and validation.

The paper discusses the opportunities to improve the personalization of the education through the use of ICT. One approach to achieve this by providing appropriate learning materials, depending on the individual learning of each student is suggested. Two different theories for determining the individual learning styles are presented and the appropriate ICT educational technologies for each style are defined. Also an experiment with the 10th grade students at Georgi Karavelov Secondary School in Shivachevo, Sliven for defining their individual learning style was provided and the results are analyzed. In addition an investigation of the possibility to apply ICT educational technologies among the students from 9 to 12 grades in Information Technology at Georgi Karavelov Secondary School in Shivachevo is discussed.

In the submitted work the noise characteristics of hail dropping strikes in urban environment are analyzed. In light of ground observations through crowd-sourcing mobile applications two hail storm recording spectra are compared. It is shown, that the low frequency component has strong influence on noise energy.
