We report on 14 patients suffering from extentise vitiligo, who underwent phototherapy with UVB. After 12 months of treatment, 8 (57.1%) of the patients showed repigmentation of more than 75%. Especially the patients with facial lesions of the skin types V and VI achieved a nearly complete and cosmetically very satisfying repigmentation.

Unlabelled: The data of 20 patients with subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE) were evaluated according to clinical and laboratory criteria. We found the following laboratory deviations: elevated BSR, leucopenia, anti-dsDNA, anti-SSA/Ro and anti-SSB/La antibodies, positive LE cells, and elevated levels of IgE and immune complex. Aside from the characteristic skin eruptions in SCLE, the patients showed arthralgia, myalgia, and pronounced photosensitivity.
Therapy: corticoids, chloroquine, and light protection. Regular follow-up examinations are extremely important in these patients.

We describe an easy surgical technique of syringomas of the eyelids, using ophthalmic spring-action scissors and leaving the wounds for secondary healing. The cosmetic outcome is excellent.
我们描述了一个简单的手术技术的眼睑,使用眼科弹簧作用剪刀和留下伤口的二次愈合。美容效果非常好。

Out of 890 fine needle aspiration biopsies performed at the Fachklinik Hornheide (195 in 1984, 277 in 1985, and 418 in the first half of 1986), we present 8 typical cases in order to demonstrate that needle biopsy is a valuable morphological technique, which allows a quick and reliable diagnosis of tumors. Moreover, it hardly affects the patient, does not destroy the prospective operation field, allows difficult bioptic approaches, and promotes the histological epicrisis. Needle biopsy is also useful in therapy control and follow-up examinations of tumors.

We report on a 74-year-old woman showing a reddish infiltration of the tip of the nose, which had appeared 3 months ago. Clinically, we considered the following differential diagnoses: sarcoidosis, rosacea, pseudolymphoma, and metastasis. Histological and immunohistological investigation proved a cutaneous metastasis of carcinoma of the breast. Our case report gives evidence of the fact that cutaneous metastases of systemic malignancies are frequently located in acral regions of the skin.

According to Cavalieri, the volume of any body-irrespective of its shape-can easily be estimated on the basis of the area of slabs of known thickness. We made use of this old principle in order to determine the correlation between the volume of skin tumors and their maximal vertical thickness. Investigations of a total of 30 benign and malignant tumors of the skin of various shapes showed a correlation coefficient of r = 0.77. Therefore, the widely used determination of the vertical thickness of malignant melanomas can be regarded as a good estimator of the tumor volume and seems to be appropriate for histological tumor staging. Together with high frequency ultrasound, Cavalieri's method allows a simple and rapid pretherapeutical in-vivo determination of the tumor volume. However, only prospective studies can reveal whether the determination of the tumor volume is of superior prognostic significance to the established techniques.

In 25 patients suffering from vitiligo, we determined the T-cell profile (OKT3, 4 and 8; anti-Leu7) as well as the peripheral monocytes (OKM5) by means of monoclonal antibodies. Comparing the patients with a control group (n = 8), we found no differences regarding the T-cell count, whereas the expression of OKM5 antigens on peripheral monocytes was significantly elevated in patients with vitiligo.
