Higher education, as an area of great public interest, is the subject of a series of state actions, laws and allocation of financial resources. Reform/s in the field of higher education assume that we have identified problems in higher education and that we have criteria based on which we will evaluate reform solutions and opt for the one/s that best meet those criteria. The intention of this text is to contribute to the identification and understanding of some of the problems that public policies in the field of higher education should address and to offer criteria for evaluating the proposed solutions. As the basic problems of higher education (in Serbia) we have identified - the enlargement of the student population and the demand for quality control arising from the need to standardize every "serial" production, the need to expand the coverage of underrepresented social groups, the need for financial and other support for underrepresented social groups, which arise from the combination of enlargement and inclusiveness of higher education, the increase in the diversity of the student population in terms of abilities, aspirations, motivation and value orientations, and the need for innovations in teaching methods in higher education, which results from this.

The importance, traits, and methods of assessment in an online context are highlighted in this paper's discussion of assessment as an essential component of teaching. The paper aims to provide teachers with a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals, features, and methodologies of online assessment while also emphasizing the need for ongoing efforts to raise teachers' professional competence in order to ensure their successful integration into contemporary educational processes. The research sample comprises of pertinent literature that was gathered on the Google Academic and ResearchGate platforms, most of which is foreign due to the scarcity of studies on this topic in Serbia. Approximately 20 years' worth of publications have been chosen, taking into account the topic's current relevance. This paper was prepared largely with the aim of giving teachers more knowledge, influencing awareness-raising, and removing hurdles that teachers frequently have when it comes to online assessment. It was written utilizing the technique of content analysis. Since the past has demonstrated that the educational system is not immune to social difficulties, it is advised that teachers accept online assessment as a substitute for traditional methods of assessment and become familiar with its significance and potential implementation strategies.

One of the essential characteristics of knowledge that determines its quality is its durability. The durability of students' knowledge depends, among other things, on the quality of organization and implementation of teaching in the process of acquiring new knowledge, as well as reviewing and repeating old knowledge. More specifically, the durability of students' knowledge depends on the applied methodological approach and the students' activities in the classroom. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of discovery-based learning on differentiated algebra content on the long-term knowledge of students in early mathematics education. To achieve this goal, an experiment was conducted with parallel groups consisting of a sample of 261 fourth-grade students from primary schools. The experiment aimed to investigate whether the methodological approach to algebra instruction based on the principles of discovery learning and content differentiation yields better effects on the durability of students' knowledge compared to traditional learning methods. The results of the research showed that discovery-based learning on differentiated algebra content contributes to better knowledge durability overall and at each of the three achievement levels (basic, intermediate, and advanced).

The paper focuses on the development of the concept of education for sustainable development in the regions where the research is conducted; with the presentation of respondents' opinions for all three observed areas. The author's contribution to this work is reflected in pointing out the basic factors and essential problems that arise when reforming the educational system in order to apply the concept of education for sustainable development. The paper offers solutions to these problems, providing established guidelines on how to reform the education system. In this case, it is about the perception of students of three regional centers - Niš and Kosovska Mitrovica in Serbia, and East Sarajevo - Pala in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The results of our research show that a very small number of students are familiar with the emergence of the idea of OR, which confirms the fact that awareness and especially knowledge of citizens about OR, both at the level of the EU and especially at the level of Serbia, is far from desirable and necessary. The results of the research can be useful for decision makers who participate in the creation of the educational system; and they would be particularly significant for the reform of the education system in Serbia, where education for sustainable development is still viewed as a theoretical rather than a practical issue.

The main goal of the paper is to determine the structure, meaning, and origin of Kierkegaard's method of indirect communication. Since Kierkegaard claimed that subjective truth cannot be directly imparted, the question arises as to how this type of truth can be conveyed to a student in the teaching process. Kierkegaard's doctrine of indirect communication should provide the answer - the invention of poetic characters, irony, and dialectical knots in the speech should provoke the student and entice him to awaken existential interest and begin existential development. In order to explain this combination of aestheticism and the ethical value of indirect communication, the paper will first address the difference between a subjective and objective reflection, which establishes the difference between direct and indirect teaching methods. In the main part of the analysis, the paper will examine the structure of indirect communication and explain the difference between aesthetic and existential reduplication. In the concluding part, the paper will briefly refer to Socrates' maieutics to determine the significance and benefaction of indirect communication as a teaching method.

Higher education institutions are considered as the main bearers of socio-economic development of society in general. Having in mind that quality is considered as an important part of institution's responsibility as well as its' sustainability, it is necessary to provide a holistic approach that would cover all processes in the institution and offer students and other stakeholders the expected standards of professional and competent functioning in all aspects of life and work. On that basis, every higher education institution tend to design and implement scientific research and professional work in various fields, and to promote and nurture creative and critical thinking values, academic integrity and professional ethics. Dedicated to this mission, many of them attempt to establish themselves as reputable HEI's in the country and the region committed to the standards of the European educational space, endeavoring to develop science, academic community, local and regional social community. Vision of many faculties is oriented toward becoming recognizable in the international academic community by constantly striving to meet as higher as possible educational, scientific and academic community standards, but also, in accordance to their original principles and actions, to contribute to the development a culture of quality in the society. Therefore, the quality management of a higher education institution is a process that continuously and systematically follows-up over a long-time period whether the established system of quality assurance, monitoring and control is effective and adjusted to proclaimed European standards. Purpose of this presentation is to gain insight into to current developmental state of quality management in HEI's in relation to the proclaimed standards.

Educators at all levels are paying attention to ever challenging demands of teaching across distance. One of the most debatable issues in this respect remains assessment. This paper aims to address some challenges of effective assessment of online learners. Some valuable insights will be provided with reference to summative and formative assessment. The article also introduces some important skills to be possessed by learners of the twenty-first century, supported by examples of online assessment activities that support such skills and correspond to the realities of online learning. Continuous reference will be made to students’ feedback as a way of assessment in and for learning. Throughout the article assessment is considered as an essential element to support the continuous evolution of online learning.

The aim of the research was to determine the effects of acrobatics programs (ground floor and skipping) on the body composition and flexibility of adolescents. The sample consisted of 50 male adolescents, seventh grade students of the elementary school "Bubanjski Heroji" in Niš, aged 14 years ± 6 months. The experimental group (n = 25) conducted 2 x 45 min per week experimental acrobatics program (ground floor and skipping) The control group (n = 25) continued with the program of regular physical education classes (handball and volleyball) 2 x 45 min per week. The results of the study showed positive changes in body composition: BMI, %MAT, %MIT and flexibility: PLNL, RANL, ISKP caused by the acrobatics program. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the experimental program of acrobatics lasting 16 weeks is an effective method that leads to a statistically significant improvement in body composition and flexibility of adolescents.

Due to its appeal, sport has always been in the service of various social fields, both in a negative and a positive sense. A sedentary lifestyle has become noticeably dominant among students. The most frequent external barrier for taking part in physical activities among the student population is a lack of time due to their schedules or due to familial or other obligations. The aim of the research was to use a critical analysis of existing studies and a generalization of the results of all the analysed papers which studied the effectiveness of sport to show the effects of sport and physical activity (PA) on the improvement of the mental hygiene among the student population. The literature was compiled by searching the following databases: Medline, Google Scholar, Web of Science and PubMed. The database search resulted in 198 papers of which 15 were included in the systematic review. The participants included in the systematic review were adults who attended class and were university students. An awareness of health and the positive effects of PA can be a decisive factor for motivating people to become physically more active. PA can help in the prevention and continuation of psychological wellbeing.

The aim of the research is to explore and compare the participation of students in sections, and their interest (realization, motivation, satisfaction), as well as of parents in extracurricular activities. Google Questionnaires (for students and parents) were used as research instruments. The sample of respondents was formed by surveying 8 students of both genders from each of totally 30 class (N=376 in total), as well as their parents (N=376). Finally, 341 questionnaires were fulfilled by students, and 310 by their parents. The analysis acknowledged that extracurricular activities/sections include significantly more first-class students than second-cycle students. There is more registered students in comparison to those who regularly attend classes, especially at the second cycle of education. In certain aspects of the realization of sections students are satisfied, but there is a possibility for improvements in work. When planning section classes, it is important to envision the ability to place students in the teaching role, developing student self-reliance and self-confidence, but also to encourage peer learning and all students to engage in activities.
