Over the past few years, there have been significant changes in the logistics sector. New regulations of commercial road transport at the European Union level have been released. Hundreds of cargo transports are carried out by road transport every day. The study shows that these rules aim to ensure a balance between the social security of drivers and the freedom of operators to provide cross-border transport services. Although, the changes also caused a lot of conflicting thoughts. Therefore, this article attempts to reveal the benefits/harms and impact on businesses of introducing a Mobility package.

The need for a place to live has always been a pressing problem for society. Several municipalities in Latvia are building new rental houses to provide their residents with a place to live. However, not all residents have the opportunity to apply for a municipal apartment for rent it. The problems also affect the municipalities themselves, which often end up in the role of hostages in the fight with tenants who do not pay rent, as well as when concluding rental agreements in order to fulfil the requirements of the law.

In the modern day, businesses face many challenges: from economic recessions to political and social trends, no wonder, that the modern enterprise should not just be aiming at earning profits but also at complying with the social norms and trends of the modern world. Sustainability is a vast term that describes many different things, therefore it is important for businesses to clearly define it, know what the examples of it are and which practices to use to stay sustainable. This article aims to provide theoretical basis for sustainability in businesses and evaluate the level of sustainability of some enterprises in Europe and to provide the theoretical basis for sustainability in business and conduct the analysis of levels of sustainability of four enterprises based in Lithuania and Ukraine.

Throughout the years, there have been several changes made in logistics sphere and until this day it does not stop. One of the novelties was the Mobility package. It is known that many freights are being carried out by road transport as we are reading this, so it is very clear that new regulations hold a huge impact on transport companies. The research shows that introduction of Mobility package made drastic changes to European Union road transport rules and regulations. It aims to improve safety and working conditions for drivers and to ensure that the entire sector operates on a level playing field. However, emersion of Mobility package made some people questioning. Consequently, this article tries to introduce Mobility package as it is by analysing the impact of it on particular road transport companies of Lithuania and Latvia, operating in European Union.

Jēkabpils district Dignājas parish homestead farm "Norieši" is a small farm specializing in the production of grain and livestock products. The share of small and medium-sized farms is dominant in the number of Latvian rural farms. One of the tasks of the agricultural policy of Latvia is to preserve and motivate the production and integration of small farmers in the market. The aim of the study is to analyze the development possibilities of agricultural production in the homestead farm "Norieši". In the work, the author evaluates the correspondence between the wishes and possibilities of the homestead farm, predicts the further development of the farm.

The aim of the work: to evaluate the development possibilities of the economic activity of the homestead farm “Dunduri” by collecting and cultivating medicinal plants. The work was developed the basis on European Union and Latvian regulatory documents and guidelines applicable to the collection and processing of medicinal plants, special literature and homestead data. It is important to understand what steps to take, what problems to face and how will affect activities in the future in the field of harvesting medicinal plants. The work examines the extraction of medicinal plants in Europe and Latvia, the guidelines for collecting and growing plants and the classification of medicinal plants, provides a description of the resources of the homestead farm “Dunduri”, examines the growing and harvesting technologies of medicinal plants and their realization possibilities, analyses the farm economic activities and development opportunities.

This research paper aims to explore the world of startups and compare the startup ecosystems in different countries: Baltic countries, Morocco and India. The paper discusses the characteristics of startups, the challenges and opportunities they face in today's global market. This joint research paper also analyses the economic indicators of the startups in countries comparing the favorable conditions and success factors to be implemented. Overall, this research contributes to the understanding of the startup landscape and depicts the insights, based on successful startup companies, into how the countries can foster innovation and economic growth through entrepreneurship.

The tourism industry affects not only the economic state of the country, but also improves and develops the urban infrastructure. Latvia is a land rich in tourism development. A service arises and there is a demand for it. The more actively the Treasure House of the Free State is involved in events, the more visitors choose to visit the house. A questionnaire was conducted using two types of questionnaires to find out the opinion of the respondents, where they get information about visiting cultural objects, to find out the problems, what are the reasons why they do not go to visit the Treasure House of the Free State, to analyze the opinion of visitors to the house about what they saw and to evaluate proposals for future development, and based on this basis for making proposals for the future development of the house.

Today, there are two opposing forces competing, on the one hand, ecology, the main aspect of which is to reduce the amount of pollution in the environment, but nevertheless, the trend of the modern world is also mobility, and the car is one of the indicators of mobility. But on the other hand, the number of sport utilitarian vehicle (SUV) cars, one of the integral components of which is four-wheel drive, is increasing. Therefore, the aim of this work is to investigate objective reasons for purchasing an all-wheel drive car and to investigate its maintenance costs in the east region of Vidzeme.
