Nonspecific slow growing lesions of hand and wrist can be difficult to diagnose. We present a case of intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia (IPEH), or Masson’s tumor of the wrist. Present case is a 23-year-old female presented with a vague, soft, mobile and mildly tender swelling over the ventral aspect of the right wrist. The present case highlights the importance of excision and histopathological examination along immunohistochemistry in these lesions.

Background: It has been seen that free radicals are involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Serum uric acid act as aprooxidant particularly at higher concentration and considered to be associated with various cardiovascular risk factors. As it acts as a prooxidant at higher concentration, our aim isto see whether theincreased serum uric acid levels can be used for monitoring CAD. Methods: 300 patients of CAD were included. In addition to a detailed history and physical examination, anthropometric parameters like body mass index, waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, diastolic bloodpressure, fasting serum lipid profile, uric acid and glucose levels were measured. Prevalence of metabolic syndromeusing ATP III criteria was studied. Result: In our study hypertriglyceridemia, BMI and prevalence of metabolic syndrome showed a steady and a significant increase with increasing levels of serum uric acid. Conclusion: In our study there is significant positive relationship of increased serum uric acid with two cardiovascular risk factors i.e. Triglyceride and prevalence of metabolic syndrome.

Objective: This study was done to determine the cause effect relationship between pressure ulcers (PUs) and metabolic alterations in individual having PUs with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Methods: 123 SCI subjects with PUs were enrolled in the study. PUs were measured for surface area, exudate, depth and formation of granulation tissue using the pressure ulcers scale for healing tool. The nutritional status of subjects was assessed by measuring serum haemoglobin, albumin and transferrin levels at baseline (week 0), weeks 3 and 6 during follow-up. Results: An inverse correlation of wound size was observed with nutritional status at weeks 3 and 6. There was a significant increase (p < 0.001) in: Haemoglobin (10.7 12.4 g/dl), Albumin (2.9 4.04 g/dl) and Transferrin (174.1 186.9 μg/dl) levels at the time of discharge. The size of PUs was drastically reduced up to 5.4 fold at the time of discharge. Conclusion: Given the high prevalence of malnutrition among subjects with PUs, performing a routine nutritional screening should result in early identification of residents with the risk of developing PUs. This article gives statistical evidence that healing of PUs is associated with an increase in Hb level and improving metabolic alterations. There seems to be a positive relationship between PU healing cascade and nutritional corrections. In future, this relation may be disclosed with newer intervention.

Background: Soft tissue tumors are a complex group of neoplasms with differentiation towards mesenchymal tissue occurring in all age groups. These neoplasms can cause particular problems in their diagnosis. Detailed clinical information and biopsy is an essential component of the pre-operative diagnostic work up. Site of tumor is important in soft tissue tumors as site provides ancillary help in differential diagnosis for example three fourth soft tissue sarcomas are located in the extremities (most common in the thigh) and 10 % each in the trunk wall and retroperitoneum. Methods: This study comprised 200 cases. Soft tissue tumours were divided into benign and malignant categories, were further divided according to WHO classification and the site of occurrence and results were compared with some studies carried by other authors. Result: The most common site of soft tissue tumours as a whole is head and neck (n = 58; 29%) followed by upper limb, (n=51; 25.5%). Although benign tumours were seen to be maximum in head & neck, (n = 55; 27.5%) where as intermediate in upper limb (n=5; 2.5%) and malignant tumours showed a predilection for lower limb (n=10 cases; 5.0%) Conclusion: The current study was done to correlate the nature of lesions in case of soft tissues with respect to site and benign tumors were found to be more common amongst all with head and neck being frequently affected area. Sarcomas were more commonly found in lower limb and the results were compared with the studies done by other authors..

Background: Tuberculosis is a most common infectious disease which is still remains a leading cause of adult mortality. There are various methods for the diagnosis of tuberculosis, such as sputum examination of tubercular bacilli by Ziehl-Neelsen(ZN) staining, demonstration of tubercular bacilli by Auramine-O, Papanicolaou(Pap) stain staining and culture in LJ medium. Aim: The aim of present study was to evaluate the diagnostic utility of Pap stain, Auramine-O and ZN stain in rapid diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis in sputum cytology. Material & Methods: Study was done on Sputum of clinically suspected case of pulmonary tuberculosis from June 2017 to August 2017. On all received sample Z N, Pap, Auramine-O staining done. Result: Among clinically suspected 150 patients. Tuberculosis was diagnosed in 74 patients. Pap shows 49 (66.21%) , Auramine-O shows 42(56.75%) ; ZN shows 35 (47.29%) cases positive. Conclusion: Evening rise of Temperature, Weight Loss, and Cough more than 2 weeks, CXR reports are the main evidence to suspect a case of Tuberculosis. Males are more affected than female and more in case of seropositive patient. Pap is slightly more sensitive than Auramine-O in diagnosis of Pulmonary tuberculosis in Fluorescent Microscopy.
