: Critics discuss many issues that theorize literary work, and one of the most important of these issues is "the issue of overlapping literary genres". Scientific foundations, and not on tasteful, arbitrary, or imitative opinions without scrutiny. In order to do so, this research attempted to theorize the problem of overlapping literary genres, and to return it to the historical roots in order to know the causes and origins of this problem. It did not stop at this, but analyzed two literary works; The first: poetry in which the dramatic tendency applies, and the second: prose in which the poetics apply. Through this, he concluded that such overlapping does not exclude the first from its genre as poetry, nor the second from its genre as prose, and this does not confuse any Arab, which means that the problem of overlapping literary genres is associated with Western literature and heritage, and has nothing to do with the literary heritage in culture.
