The aim of this study is to identify the parasite species and prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites that infect cats hospitalized at several veterinary clinics in Surabaya using the faecal examination method. The type of this research is an observational with research design used in this study is a cross sectional study. The samples used in this study were 100 cat feces that were hospitalized at several veterinary clinics in Surabaya and each took 25 fecal samples. This sample was examined using native, sedimentation, and floating methods. The results showed 35% of samples were positively infected by gastrointestinal parasites with 28% parasites as single infection and 7% as mixed infection. The gastrointestinal parasites that identified in this study were Toxocara cati, Ancylostoma sp., Cryptosporidium sp., Isospora felis, and Isospora rivolta. The results of statistical analysis with chi square test showed that sex and age were not related to the prevalence of the gastrointestinal parasites in hospitalized cats at several animal clinics in Surabaya.

This study aimed to detect the existence and identify, also to determine the prevalence and degree of infection from parasitic helminth in gabus fish (Channa striata) natural catches at Baduk Fish Market, Nganjuk Regency. In 50 samples of gabus fish, parasitic helminths were examined on the body surface, gills, abdominal cavity, muscles, and digestive tract then identified. Parasitic helminths from digestive tract stained with Semichen Acetic Carmine method. Parasitic helminths that have been identified then calculate the prevalence and degree of infection. The result showed that the parasitic helminths found in gabus fish consist of the genera Pallisentis, Spinitectus, Dactylogyrus, and Gyrodactylus. Pallisentis sp. included in Phylum Acanthocephala, found to infect the intestines with prevalence of 74% and degree of infection of 5,62 parasite each fish. Spinitectus sp. included in Phylum Nematoda, found to infect the stomach and intestines with prevalence of 48% and degree of infection of 8 parasite each fish. Dactylogyrus sp. included in Class Monogenea, found to infect the gills with prevalence of 80% and degree of infection of 1,95 parasite each fish. Gyrodactylus sp. included in Class Monogenea, found to infect the body surface with prevalence of 42% and infection rate of 1,33 parasite each fish.

The aim of this research was to know whether pineapple peel juice can be used as an ovicidal of in vitro A galli. This study used eggs of A. galli worms obtained by collecting adult A. galli worms from the small intestines of fresh local chickens purchased from traditional markets in Surabaya. The research design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments , the concentration of pineapple peel juice was 0% (Control), 5%, 10%, and 20%. Each treatment consisted of six replications, with observations on days 5, 10, 15 and 20. Developed eggs were identified with the presence of larvae within egg and the movement of larvae. The data obtained will be analyzed with the ANOVA Statistical Test with the SPSS device and then followed by the Duncan test. The results of statistical analysis showed that pineapple peel juice had a significant effect on the development of A. galli worm eggs In Vitro. The number of damaged A.galli eggs increased as they were given higher pineapple juice concentration. This proves that pineapple peel juice has higher anthelmintic effect with increasing concentration given. Pineapple peel juice 20% is the best juice concentration.

This study aimed to compare the ultrastructural morphology of Raillietina echinobothrida and Raillietina tetragona that infected the small intestine of native chickens (Gallus domesticus) obtained from various traditional markets in Sidoarjo Regency. The samples used in this research were 57 small intestines of native chickens (Gallus domesticus) sold at Tulangan, Wonoayu, Larangan, Krian, and Suko Market. The samples were macroscopic and microscopically examined using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The result showed that Raillietina echinobothrida with prevalence of 57.89% has a yellowish string-like body (length 16-23 cm) with a round scolex (0.27-0.3 mm in diameter), round sucker (0.07x0.08-0.08x0.09 mm in size), rostellum armed with hooks has size of 0.06x0.07-0.08x0.1 mm, and unsegmented, thick, and short neck. Meanwhile Raillietina tetragona showed prevalence of 29.05%, also has a yellowish string-like body (length 20-28 cm) with an oval scolex (0.16-0.2 mm in diameter), oval sucker (0.04x0.09-0.05x0.01 mm in size), rostellum armed with hooks has the size of 0.03x0.05-0.04x0.06 mm, and unsegmented, thin, and long neck. The surface body of both Raillietina echinobothrida and Raillietina tetragona has a soft and velvety texture.

The purpose of the research were to identify the species, prevalence, and predilection of ectoparasite in Culling Layer Hen at Wonokromo Market, Surabaya City. The research was conducted from March to May 2021 with total of 100 sample of chickens were examined by the skin and feather body region. Identification of ectoparasite was carried out at The Laboratory Parasitology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Universitas Airlangga using permanent mounting methods. The results showed, the species of ectoparasite that infest the culling layer hen were Menopon gallinae 21%, Lipeurus caponis 10%, Ornythonissus bursa 10%, and Dubininia melopsitacci 70%. Predilection of ectoparasite shows that M. gallinae were found in the head-neck, back, wings, and legs region. L. caponis was found in the head-neck, wings, and back region. O. bursa was found in the legs and tail region, and D. melopsitacci was found in the entire body of chicken, the head-neck, back, wings, abdomen, legs, and tail.
