Mobile telecommunication networks consist of several co-existing, independent domains. Communication protocols in these diverse domains can be broadly classified into IP-based and SS7-based protocols. Modern IP-based network nodes already rely on service-oriented architectures (SOA) while SS7 based system is based on switching offices and a specialised service control. Service-oriented mediation between those networks is a challenging task. This paper addresses interoperable service-mediation by combining service descriptions, protocols and the integration of application data. The service mediation approach aims to combine performance-oriented interoperability with SOA concepts

E-Learning Platform Characterization from User Trafic 从用户流量分析电子学习平台特征

An e-Learning platform has been designed and implemented. The platform has built in capabilities of monitoring and recording user's actions. For a user, all executed actions on the platform represent his activity. The activity of all users makes up platform's activity. Based on platform's activity data, we introduce an attribute for our e-Learning platform called Quality of Service (QoS). Two parameters define the QoS: learning proficiency of students and classification capability of the platform. Machine learning and modeling techniques evaluate the parameters for our platform or any other e-Learning system.

The CSS (Campus Satellitare del Salento) is an e-learning application developed by the University of Lecce (in Italy) that integrates live, interactive and on-demand services over not only the Internet but also the satellite infrastructure. This paper presents the CSS realized as a solution to face the problem of guiding large classrooms of students and of developing didactic models very transparent like traditional ones. As such, CSS gains scalability making use of a satellite data network and of a remote monitoring tool. Moreover, transparency is obtained using screen-recording and open learning environment in which the learning material (multimedia data) is organized into an easy and a modular structure. Even though these solutions have been adopted to solve a local problem, it seems to have a wide range of potential implementations

Distributed Measurement System Based on Wireless Mobile Device and Application Repository Server 基于无线移动设备和应用存储服务器的分布式测量系统

The innovative software architecture of the wireless distributed measurement system (W-DMS) including the Web-enabled measurement application repository server (MARS) is proposed. The duties of the MARS are devoted to permit the connectivity by the various wireless communication protocols, such as GPRS/UMTS, WiFi and Bluetooth, and to supply the mobile devices, as personal digital assistant and smartphone, with the measurement application in order to manage and control the measurement instruments. The proposed architecture shares in increasing the adaptability and the flexibility characteristics of the W-DMS to the new requirements of the industrial applications. The aspects concerning the design and the architecture of the MARS are discussed. In order to evidence the innovative features, the applicative example is shown

Usability of Mobile Ad hoc Networks for IP Services IP服务的移动自组织网络的可用性

In order to harmonize providing of IP services and applications by new commercial telecommunication networks and emerging mobile ad hoc networks, tending to be free, some symbiosis is investigated. The way has been already shown by next generation network concept and its interworking with infrastructure wireless LAN. In every fair symbiosis a compromises are required. Telecommunication networks could trade cheaper or even free access for mobile ad-hoc networks for extending networks coverage and selling picked IP services. Mobile ad hoc networks get global connectivity and cheaper, picked IP services for adherence to some rules (authentication/authorization, security, gatewaying and charging specification). Quality-of-service is extremely important issue in such foreseen hybrid networks. This paper investigates usability of mobile ad hoc networks for IP services delivery from different aspects, such as technologies, existed and proposed telecommunication standards and architectures. A raw sketch of possible hybrid network based on findings is also given

Switching fabric is a hardware mechanism used inside packet switches and routers to provide an interconnection among I/O ports and possibly a CPU. The ideal switching fabric scales to handle a high data rate on a given port, and scales to handle many ports. Because practical switching fabrics cannot achieve the ideal, a set of architectures has been created of which each represents a trade off in performance, scalability, and cost. We discuss different switching fabric architectures, analyze bandwidth requirements, and examine interconnection mechanisms that can be used to create a fast path over which packets move from one network interface to another. Most of today's packet switches and routers are implemented using slower electronic components. Dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) technology offers tremendous transmission capacity in optical fiber communications. Optical packet switches are one of the potential candidates to improve switching capacity to be comparable with optical transmission capacity. The WDM switching fabric stores and forwards cells from each input port to one or more specific output ports determined by the electronic route controller. Using this kind of optical switch to route information, an optical network has the advantage of bit rate

Sixrm: Full Mesh Reliable Source Ordered Multicast Sixrm:全网格可靠源有序组播

In this paper we describe Sixrm, a reliable multicast protocol that supports multiple sources that are at the same time multiple destinations and that works both on ipv4 and on ipv6. The protocol is completely configurable by profile settings and is implemented completely in Java Standard Edition 1.5. The protocol is included on the distributed server part of network middleware for large scale mobile and pervasive augmented reality that we also introduce in this paper, and supports the ordering of messages by source without duplicates and its reliable delivery to the application, without the support of network elements

Optimizing SIP Service Provisioning in Internet Connected MANETs 优化互联manet下的SIP业务发放

Recently, mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) have gained a lot of attraction because they are flexible, self-configurable and fast to deploy. Systems beyond 4G are likely to consist of a combination of heterogeneous wireless technologies and naturally might comprise MANETs as one component. In order to provide multimedia services such as voice over IP in such environment, support for session initiation protocol (SIP) is essential. A MANET is a decentralized collection of autonomous nodes but a SIP infrastructure requires centralized proxies and registrar servers. In this paper, we first study the implications of using standard SIP architecture in Internet connected MANETs. We analyze limitations of SIP service scalability when centralized proxies/registrars located in the access network are used by MANET nodes. Finally, we present alternative approaches to provide SIP services in such environment to avoid current limitations

Video-streaming Transmission with QoS over Cross-Layered Ad hoc Networks 跨层自组织网络上具有QoS的视频流传输

End-to-end quality of service (QoS) provision to video-streaming applications over mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) poses a specially challenging problem. In this paper we propose a cross-layer (XL) network architecture design to optimize the overall performance of video-streaming services over MANETs, called ViStA-XL. The idea relies on applying several optimization strategies to different network layers in a holistic way. In our proposal, a real-time XL optimizer (XLO) collects information about the node and network states from different layers of the network's protocol stack. Then, in order to minimize the error between received and transmitted video, the XLO module takes the necessary decisions to act dynamically over different layers' parameters. In addition, our proposal exploits path diversity as a mean to reinforce QoS provision to layered-coded video-streaming applications, by protecting the most important video information packets. To show the advantages of our approach, we have developed an algorithm based on ViStA-XL. Simulation results show that our proposed network design can improve the performance of video-streaming transmissions over MANETs in spite of frequent changes in network topology and node's conditions

An Integration Architecture to 4TH Generation Wireless Networks 面向第四代无线网络的集成体系结构

Integration architecture will play a key role in implementing the 4G network to provide the always best connected services. This paper analysis the current communication business model, and get a conclusion that the mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) can be a good candidate to integrate the multiple radio access networks. The integration can be realized step by step to adapt the user's gradually increased service requirements. We analysis the characters of the MVNO, summarize the required management functions and propose an integration architecture that allows the MVNO to support real time resource management and seamless service handover in the heterogeneous wireless networks. The integration architecture, which is a variation of hybrid network model, requires the least modification of the current access networks
