La mala situacion de la cabana equina, entre otros factores, propicio que los autores publicasen un centenar de obras relacionadas con el mundo ecuestre. El presente trabajo analiza autores, contenidos, clientes e impresores en un esfuerzo por comprender como la sociedad de la epoca veia los caballos. EnglishThe importance of horses in eighteenth-century Spanish society finds reflection in the production of books on the topic. The appalling situation of the equine herd, among others factors, led authors to publish hundred of works related to the equestrian world. The present work analyzes authors, contents, customers and printers of books in an effort to understand how the society of the time viewed horses.

Five days before her death on February 11, 1587, Maria de Mendoza, VII Countess of Ribadavia, gave possession of all her assets not subject to the family’s entailed estate to her daughter Maria Sarmiento, duchess of Sessa. This paper aims to reconstruct the story of this rich heritage and to explain the process by which the family palace in Valladolid was emptied by the duchess.
