A digital clock frequency multiplier, divisor using floating point arithmetic which generates the output clock with almost zero frequency error has been presented. The circuit has an unbounded multiplication and division factor range and low lock time. A low power mechanism has been incorporated to ensure that the overall power consumption of the circuit is less. The circuit has been designed in TSMC 65nm CMOS process for an input reference time of 0.01ns and has been verified with random multiplication factor values.

Hyper Differential Evolution (H-DE)is a new optimization technique. We develop a novel blind Detection algorithm based on H-DE in conjunction with Independent Component Analysis (ICA). We then apply the algorithm to the multi-user symbol estimation problem in Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) systems. Blind detection is to estimate multiple symbol sequences associated with all users in the downlink of the DS-CDMA communication system using only the received wireless data and without any knowledge of the user spreading codes. Bit error rate (BER) simulation evidence of the improved performance of this novel algorithm are shown for different number of users, signal to noise ratio (SNR) and different number of symbols per user. The performance is compared with the traditional FAST ICA Detector. The results show that the proposed algorithm performs well and outperforms the FAST ICA Detector in estimating the symbol signals from the mixed CDMA received signals.

This study designed a body weight support system controlling load on a patient during gait training. The designed system consisted of a tow device, elevation and rotation device, and load control device. The tow device tows a patient using an electric winch, and the elevation and rotation device elevates and rotates the body weight control system using a motor and bearings. And, the load control device controls load on a patient during gait training using elasticity force of two motors and spring. Load on a patient during gait training is measured by a load measurement sensor equipped in the load control system. The load control system controls load on a patient during gait training using the value measured by the load measurement sensor. This study modeled a body weight system to obtain design variables for motors and springs of the load control device by using a dynamics interpretation package, and made a control system to perform a control simulation of the body weight control system. Based on the simulation result, this study intended to design the proposed system as a system controlling load on a patient during gait training.

Conventional teaching pendent is widely utilized to define the task manipulation of industrial robot. But for efficient teaching task, we need to make the novel intuition teaching method and user friendly interface to realize end effector's position and orientation easier. In addition to enhance time efficiency of teaching task, tele-operation function and mobility are also needed. In this regard, this research proposes smart phone based intuitive teaching pendant. The way of basic idea is that the smart phone orientation information can be considered as some control device which has universal joint in base part, and we match orientation information of smart phone to end effector of manipulator. Furthermore, a user study is performed to compare the proposed smart teaching pendant with conventional approach in a given scenario. And we can show that suggested method has more time efficiency comparing with the traditional teaching works in the virtual environment applied the idea of teaching method we designed.

This study proposes a multistage fault-tolerant (MSFT) scheme for fixed-width array multipliers. The proposed MSFT multipliers divide the array multiplier into multiple stages, and implement a single processing element (PE) by regarding multiple computation cycles to achieve a low area design. To tolerate the fault that occurs in the integrated circuit, three redundancy replicas of PE (TMR-PE) architecture are proposed. Thus, the MSFT multiplier employs the TMR-PEs to achieve a low-cost fault-tolerant design. The TMR-PEs are designed by using compressors with multiple operands, such as 4-2 compressors or other compressors with more operands, to reduce computation cycles and speed up the execution time. Because of implementation with a 0:18-um CMOS process, the long word-length MSFT multiplier saves a significant amount of the circuit area. The proposed 64 × 64 MSFT multiplier has only 13% of the circuit area and 3% of the delay overhead of the original multiplier. Based on the measurements of the area-delay product (AT) metric, the value of the 64 x 64 MSFT multiplier is only 0:21 fold of the value of the original multiplier. Consequently, the proposed MSFT multipliers achieve a low-cost fault-tolerant design.

In this paper, we propose methods for shadow removal in static background environment. Accurate background subtraction is essential to detect and track various objects. Shadow and objects similar in color are major problems in background subtraction and tracking. In order to address these problems, we propose shadow removal method for background subtraction using illumination invariant measures. First, we computed a reference background image and the illumination invariant measures were applied to the reference background image and an input image. We compared the proposed method with some existing background subtraction methods. The experimental results showed that the proposed method produced more accurate results.

With the trend of the aging society, how to take good care of the elders has become the significant issue. Based on the techniques of Kinect interface and indoor positioning, this paper develops a power wheelchair control system to improve the living quality of disabled elders. To realize hand gesture recognition with Kinect interface, the disabled elder uses hand gesture to call the wheelchair. The power wheelchair moves to the location of disabled elder automatically. At the same time, the elder can request the power wheelchair to any places via a touch panel. When the disabled elder does not need the wheelchair furthermore, the power wheelchair will go back to its parking location.

By considering the benefits of using Wireless Sensor Network in Disaster Management, an appropriate structure for Wireless Sensor Network based on clustered and hierarchical models will be proposed. By applying different policies in each layer of proposed structure, energy consumption will be decreased. Furthermore, by studying the characteristics of the Wireless Sensor Network for Disaster Management, a new proper routing algorithm for using in the proposed Wireless Sensor Network will be presented. The proposed algorithm is based on some wildly used routing algorithm that adapted for the proposed structure for disaster management. By applying the proposed routing algorithm in the proposed structure energy consumption will be decreased and the time limitation for real-time data will be guaranteed. Increasing data transfer reliability is another benefit of proposed structure.

Currently in the Machinery and IT convergence industry, there are an increasing number of devices available and under development that can enable those services with the use of various emerging IT convergence technologies. However, there is not yet a dominant system architecture and format for describing the data and control methods on various devices for those services. In this paper, we made the machinery and IT convergence system architecture including gateway. Also this specification describes MITCXML (Machinery and IT Convergence extensible Markup Language) format to remotely monitor and remotely control in-premises' machinery and IT convergence devices using XML (extensible Markup Language). The experimental result shows that our MITcXML based convergence scheme achieves more interoperability than manual management schemes.

Broadcasting is a fundamental operation in any wireless network, more so in wireless sensor networks, where each sensor node has limited transmission range as well as battery power. Broadcasting protocols for wireless sensor networks are required to simultaneously minimize resource usage and optimize performance metrics such as latency and reliability. Broadcasting becomes even more challenging, when nodes in the networks are duty cycled and sleep scheduling is asynchronous. In this paper, we propose a Coverage-based Adaptive Preamble Broadcasting (CAPB) Protocol, which utilizes the MAC layer preamble sending property before the data packet, counter-based approach with the area-based schemes in order to exploit the maximum advantage of these approaches. Our algorithm is compared against a fix probabilistic technique. CAPB maximizes the reach ability and rebroadcast saving while consuming the minimum possible power of the sensor nodes. CAPB also achieves higher throughput as compared to probability-based broadcasting scheme.
