Elastic lists for facet browsers 面向facet浏览器的弹性列表

In the context of current web and personal information management developments, we argue that facet browsing is an increasingly important interface paradigm. However, current implementations neglect two important aspects of metadata distributions: the relative proportions of metadata occurrences and the unusualness of this proportion compared to a global profile. Based on focus & context visualization techniques, we enhance facet browser user interfaces with "elastic lists" to make the resulting weighted metadata profiles visually accessible and navigable. The principle is currently developed and tested in several domains.

Citation Analysis using Formal Concept Analysis: A case study in Software Engineering 使用形式概念分析的引文分析:软件工程中的案例研究

In this paper formal concept analysis (FCA) is used as a means to analyse afield of research using published academic papers as its input. In particular, results are presented based on a case study of 47 academic papers in a scientific field of study. The analysis includes inferences about the field of study based on the domain background knowledge derived from the ISO12207 software engineering standard. Additionally, a number of alternative classifications based on the target application language and the reported application size are introduced. FCA reveals useful insights about the nature of the subject matter: identifying fruitful areas of research as well as producing details about characteristics of the community under examination.

An e-Learning collaborative RIA environment for Web Application Modeling and Code Generation 一个用于Web应用建模和代码生成的电子学习协作RIA环境

In the last years different methodologies have been proposed to systematize the Web development processes. Some of them are supported by CASE tools that help the user in all or in part of the phases of the application development. A number of these tools are used with didactic aims, for teaching the development process of Web applications. Nevertheless, to our knowledge, none of the currently available CASE tools neither supports the online cooperative design, nor allows the modelling of a process with the supervision of a teacher. Our technological solution is based on Rich Internet Applications (RIAs), i.e., Web applications with multimedia, high levels of interactivity, and collaborative work support. This document presents a Rich Internet application for the automatic code generation of Web applications that allows different modellers to design Web applications in a cooperative and supervised way, as well as to automatically generate its code. This work is inspired by the Web modelling language WebML.

Mobile multimodal applications on mass-market devices: experiences 大众市场设备上的移动多模式应用:体验

Multimodality on mobile terminals has been relegated to very high-end terminals, not spread among normal people. Nevertheless, the evolution of the technologies allows a deployment of synergic multimodal application on smart- phones. We have studied how it is possible to build multimodal clients on mobile handsets, using an innovative approach based on what we have called multimodal objects, trying to explore limitations and constraints of the J2ME programming environment. We report in this paper our experience and the results of our research.

A UML 2 Profile for Variability Models and their Dependency to Business Processes 可变性模型及其对业务过程的依赖性的UML 2概要文件

Variability Models are designed for modelling variabilities of a software. Unfortunately they are not part of a well-known modelling framework for a higher usability, like the Unified Modelling Language. To address this limitation, we provide a UML 2 profile for variability models. Furthermore we show the dependency from the UML profile to activity diagrams to make the relationship between variability models and process models visible. This profile and its mapping are tested with example business processes.

Dimensionality Reduction in a P2P System P2P系统中的降维

Peers and data objects in the hybrid overlay network (HON) are organized in a n-dimensional feature space. As the dimensionality increases, peers and data objects become sparse and the distance measures become increasingly meaningless which leads to serious problems affecting HON performance. In this paper we propose a distributed feature selection technique reduce the dimensionality in HON. We study in our simulations the impact of the proposed feature selection technique on query results quality and show that it achieves high recall and precision.

On the Use of Case Based Reasoning Techniques in Flexible Querying 基于案例的推理技术在灵活查询中的应用

Case based reasoning (CBR) is a methodology where new problems are solved by investigating, adapting and reusing solutions to a previously solved, similar problem. Hereby knowledge is deduced from the characteristics of a collection of past cases, rather than induced from a set of knowledge rules that are stored in a knowledge base. In this paper we describe how fuzzy CBR techniques can be used to enhance the accessibility of relational databases, more specifically, flexible querying of regular relational databases. Two approaches are discussed: an approach where a database system is extended with a standalone instance- based prediction facility and an approach where such a prediction facility is embedded as an extension of the relational algebra. In both approaches, fuzzy set theory is used for the gradual modelling of similarity. Furthermore, its related possibility theory is used for the modelling of query satisfaction and for the handling of the inevitable uncertainty that occurs when predictions are made.

Computing Degree of Association Based on Different Semantic Relationships 基于不同语义关系的关联度计算

In domain ontologies, there is usually no weight assigned to the link between two concepts. This has been considered as one of main obstacles in using ontologies. Semantic Association (SA) is to depict the correlation of two concepts, and can be measured as the weight of the link. In this paper, we defined Degree of Association (DOA) to measure SA from a concept to its direct-related concept in domain ontology, and proposed a Language-Model-Based Method (LMBM) to compute DOA. Our idea comes from the intuition that the semantic relationship between two concepts implies certain semantic association of them. We took probabilistic model for computing DOA, and used Maximum Likelihood Estimation to estimate parameters. We tested the proposed method on two different domain ontologies, and applied it in experiments of semantic query expansion. Experimental results show the benefit of our approach and demonstrate the promising effectiveness over semantic query expansion.

Security engineering is more complex in modern enterprise systems, having to consider diverse operational properties including those of participants and resources. This paper describes extensible security patterns, a framework for engineering a system's security according to its operational properties. The framework is referred to as extensible, as its language and methodology allow for refinement of the patterns at different phases of the system's specification.

In this work, we focus on two aspects of the comparison of video shots. We present a new approach to extract a variable number of key frames from a shot, by the use of a hierarchical clustering with automatic level selection, in order to provide optimal allocation of features on different parts of the shot.
