Digital Object Identifier 10.32754/JMT.2018.2.10 57 Abstract—The purpose of this paper is to present some aspects of hydro-mechanical transmissions and their link with combustion engine. In order to establish the static characteristics of torque converter, there are used graphical representations of turbine torque, impeller torque, efficiency and transfer ratio. Static characteristics of hydro-mechanical transmissions are presented using torque and power charts measured at secondary gear axle and also using energy efficiency and rate of power turned into-heat charts. Using external characteristic values of engine torque and engine power charts, there are presented static characteristics resulted from the correlation of combustion engine and hydromechanical transmission. Static characteristics obtained by mathematical expressions are used to study vehicle dynamics within this paper. Therefore, using Matlab and Simulink, general dynamics performances of a system are established. Other purpose of this paper is to establish specific performances of the diesel combustion engine functioning along with a hydro-mechanical transmission, such as maximum speed and maximum slope on different types of frequently used roads.

Digital Object Identifier 10.32754/JMT.2018.2.08 45 Abstract—Ensuring the interior spaces and access routes of underground shelters subjected to extreme loading is a particularly important requirement in order to protect the personnel in any situation. Solid metal doors are currently used for such constructions, but they are not usually designed accurately according to the requirements imposed by the actual norms regarding the explosion action in closed space. The way of manifestation and the effects of an open field explosion differ considerably from the situation of detonation in a closed tunnel, specific to access routes of underground shelters. The present paper aims to determine, for different scenarios, the levels of pressure at the entrance of a shelter in order to determine the input data for an efficient further design of the metallic doors.

Digital Object Identifier 10.32754/JMT.2018.2.06 33 Abstract—Under the current conditions of construction that consume as little energy as possible, new technologies have been developed both for the production of renewable energy and for the implementation of high performance materials that efficiently isolate the interior spaces of the buildings. Structures with reinforced concrete walls can be made using insulating concrete forms that meet the requirements for a passive house. The fact that fresh concrete is casted into these forms that remain throughout the construction lifetime, allows a more efficient hydration of cement, which increases the strength of reinforced concrete. Using the results of laboratory tests, this paper presents a numerical analysis of different types of reinforced concrete walls, comparing the resistance capacity and the ductility for both cases: concrete casted in normal forms and using insulating concrete forms.

Digital Object Identifier 10.32754/JMT.2018.2.07 39 Abstract—Vehicle Cone Index (VCI) is the most representative parameter to establish the vehicle capability to overpass the tough conditions caused by the soft soil. Its importance is emphasized by the fact that it has been recently included in TOP 02-2-619A. According to this test operations procedure, VCI can be both estimated and measured. Original methods – prediction with TruckSim software, as measurements in a natural fine grained soil for a 4×4 military vehicle, are presented in the study. The difficulties encountered with site selection, equipment used and test lane procedure represent truly learned lessons for all those concerned with offroad mobility. Moreover, the test results and the analysis done in this paper could be a reference for future vehicle pass simulations.

Digital Object Identifier 10.32754/JMT.2018.2.05 27 Abstract—The current paper is concerned with the ground motion simulation using the stochastic method, a method that combines the parameters of the amplitude spectrum of the seismic motion with a random phase spectrum modified so that the movement would be distributed over the specific duration to the magnitude and distance of the earthquake. Using simple functions, this method incorporates the influence of seismic motion characteristic (source mechanism, seismic wave path influence and local site conditions). To see how the method can be used for Vrancea (Romania) intermediate-depth source, SMSIM and EXSIM were used to simulate the medium earthquake produced by Vrancea source on October 27, 2004.

Digital Object Identifier 10.32754/JMT.2018.2.11 61 Abstract—The present paper aims to present the development of an application written in C# programming language, intended to command a measuring system that records parameters specific to skid steering wheeled vehicles, such as: wheel speed, wheel torque. The application commands all six electrical motors that are attached to the platform wheels. The application can command the wheels individually, simultaneously, at both constant and variable engine speeds. Furthermore, the application is able to gather information from all the sensors that can be attached to the 6×6 platform.
