Tandem Smart Cards: Enforcing Trust for TLS-Based Network Services 串联智能卡:为基于tls的网络服务加强信任

This paper presents a new concept, called tandem, dedicated to smart cards that control TLS-based applications. The originality of this approach is to introduce a collaborative process between a smart card and its docking host. This technology enables the secure downloading of a huge amount of data, in untrustworthy computers. We present software paradigms and APIs that facilitate the practical deployment of such cards. We analyze experimental results, obtained with four commercial SIM cards and general purpose java cards.

IMS vs. P2P and Web 2.0 - Understanding the Role of the IP Multimedia System (IMS) in Face of a Converging Telco and Internet Service World IMS vs. P2P和Web 2.0——理解IP多媒体系统(IMS)在电信和互联网服务世界融合中的作用

This tutorial will introduce the notion of network convergence and next generation networks by looking at the evolution of telecommunication services and Internet services and the related infrastructure. Special emphasis will be placed on describing the principles and architecture of the IP multimedia subsystem (IMS), a common service platform standard defined by IETF, 3GPP, ETSI TISPAN, and Cablelab, which is based on internet protocols and intelligent network principles. Besides the IMS core operation also the IMS application provisioning principles will be illustrated. It will be shown that IMS is well designed to support seamless presence and community oriented multimedia information and communication services across various networks. However, a critical comparison of IMS with classic VoIP infrastructures, P2P service platforms and the emerging Web 2.0 will be performed. The tutorial ends with an introduction of the Fraunhofer FOKUS Open IMS Playground - a globally known pioneering IMS testbed, and the corresponding open source IMS core system, which has been released in 2006 and since then provides the foundation for many academic and industry NGN/IMS testbeds around the globe.

Collaborative Transmission in Wireless Sensor Networks by a (1 + 1)-EA 基于(1 + 1)-EA的无线传感器网络协同传输

With collaborative transmission we propose a novel transmission scheme that utilizes constructive interference between transmitted signals of wireless sensor nodes. Similar to cooperative transmission approaches we are able to drastically extend the transmission range of a wireless sensor network. We show that synchronization of received signal components is feasible without inter-node communication. Our approach is capable of synchronizing a virtually arbitrary number of signal components. The underlying scenario is modelled as a black-box optimization problem and is solved by a (1+1) evolution strategy. The method is optimal in the sense that any other evolutionary search approach with equal mutation probability has an expected asymptotic optimization time that is at least of the same order.

Combining Passive Autoconfiguration and Anomaly-Based Intrusion Detection in Ad Hoc Networks 结合被动自配置和基于异常的Ad Hoc网络入侵检测

Two essential services of ad-hoc networks are IP address autoconfiguration and intrusion detection systems. Since both autoconfiguration and intrusion detection may base their decisions on routing protocol anomalies, their interdependencies can cause problems. In this paper, we present our approach to efficiently combine autoconfiguration and intrusion detection, and present our enhancements in attack detection for an auto configuration system. We have identified anomalies indicating specific attacks, implemented suitable anomaly detectors, and evaluated our system. The results show that it is possible to detect both the attacks and IP address conflicts in an efficient way.

Delivering RSS-Feeds over SIP 通过SIP交付rss提要

Delivering RSS news feeds to clients is a simple technology, but it results in great amount of news duplication. Tests show that in ordinary situations the duplication rate can approach 99% of the delivered news items. This duplication is the result of the pull-style delivering mechanism used to transmit the news from the server to the clients. Using a different type of delivery mechanism, i.e. push, we achieve a system that is free of duplication. In this paper, we present a service that uses SIP and its specific event notifications extension to deliver the RSS feed information to the clients. Our system does not require changes to existing news providing services. We present a new proxy and client software for a mobile device that can introduce huge bandwidth and energy savings, a critical feature for any mobile service.

Adaptive Services in a Distributed Environment 分布式环境中的自适应服务

The dynamically changing nature of distributed service environments requires a computing model in which services modify their behavior in order to adapt to changes and fulfill new requirements in the environment. This paper describes design and implementation of the autonomic communication element (ACE) component model with main focus on service adaptability. Autonomic Communication Element (ACE) is a component model developed to support the creation of autonomic communication services which are capable of adapting their behavior according to changes in the context in which they are executing and from which they are requested. In this paper we present our approach for service adaptability and illustrate this on the example of an ACE.

Trends and Challenges of Wireless Sensor Networks 无线传感器网络的发展趋势与挑战

Summary form only given: The interest for sensor networks has been rapidly growing in the last years and the number of applications using sensor networks is increasing rapidly. However, the adoption of wireless sensor network technology has been hindered by the difficulty to program them in a simple and efficient way. In this key note we will talk about trends of development of sensor networks and a forward looking way to tackle some of the related challenges for broad deployment. In particular, we will present some of the work done at the European Microsoft Innovation Center (EMIC) to develop an integrated programming model based on the .Net technology. The programming model enables the development of a sensor network application as a set of connected services (filters and aggregators) forming a data flow. The set of defined services is dynamically deployed on the sensor networks where the runtime associated to the programming model and running on the nodes of the sensor networks, applies some optimization strategies in order to limit the amount of communications required to execute the application. This programming model is based on the coordination decentralized software services (DSS) and the concurrency and coordination runtime (CCR) developed by the Microsoft Robotics Studio team and further apply to the wireless sensor domain. It has been validated by the development of several applications in the context of collaborative projects in which EMIC is involved.

The OtaSizzle Project: Large-Scale Service Experimentation Testbed OtaSizzle项目:大规模服务实验测试平台

We plan to build services following the above principles, focusing on service initiation; hooking the user; and building a durable relation. We will test the services them with sufficiently large user populations and over sufficiently long time to see the dynamics of service diffusion and the impact of various principles. To achieve this, we will involve partners with access to large user populations and service infrastructures for reaching the users and deploy multidisciplinary researcher resources for really studying, understanding and explaining the phenomena taking place.

The contribution of this paper is a novel service architecture for facilitating the development of context-aware applications in heterogeneous distributed environments. The requirements, architecture and functional validation of the architecture are contributed. The research problem addressed in the paper is dynamic acquisition and representation of context information and its efficient provisioning for applications via a software service architecture. The approach taken in the paper is to introduce a service architecture called context monitoring service (CMS) that provides a dynamically evolving semantic model of context information that the applications can access in order to react to changes in the context. The CMS architecture is functionally validated in two experimental system implementations including the CMS service prototype and exemplary facility surveillance applications utilizing the CMS service.

Analyzing Context-Aware Service Development under MUPE Platform MUPE平台下上下文感知服务开发分析

Context-awareness indicates that a computer system is linked with changes in the real world. Context information can be used for numerous different purposes, but the real break through is still pending. Context information is useful only when it is not static, and hence in desktop computers there is very limited need for context awareness. In mobile phones situation is different. MUPE is an Open Source application platform for creating mobile multi-user context-aware services. It is based on client-server architecture and both server and client are capable context providers. A typical client context would be GPS location or Bluetooth ID. Typical server context would be information like weather or stock market. This paper introduces context-aware services made by professional and non-professional and compares those against each other to point out that context-awareness under MUPE is easily and rapidly utilizable even for non-professionals developers.
