Successful integration of classes makes functionalities work correctly in software. The individual class usually functions correctly, but when the classes are integrated several unexpected faults may occur. In Object-Oriented software it is particularly hard to detect faults when classes are integrated because of inheritance, polymorphism and dynamic binding. Software designers use Unified Modeling Language (UML) to create an abstract system scenario and to visualize the system's architecture. A lot of research reveals that UML is not only for software design, but also for software testing. More and more researchers have realized UML models can be a source for Object-Oriented software testing. This paper proposes an intermediate test model called the Polymorphism State SEquence Test Model (PSSETM), which is generated from sequence diagram, class diagram and state-charts for integration testing. The example of Bookstore System shows the PSSETM test model is able to exhibit the possible state of object and the polymorphic information of class. Based on the PSSETM test model, various coverage criteria are defined to generate valid test paths to enhance testing on interaction among classes and the polymorphism of class.

The threat of electromagnetic analysis attacks against cryptographic circuits is now becoming more evident. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the resistance of cryptographic circuits to electromagnetic analysis attacks at the design stage. In order to analyze electromagnetic waves at the design stage, an electromagnetic field simulator must be used. However, since electromagnetic analysis attacks use many waveforms, the use of an electromagnetic field simulator is not realistic from the standpoint of the processing time. The present study develops a verification platform to evaluate the vulnerability of cryptographic circuits to electromagnetic analysis attacks at the design stage. In the present study, a macro model for each element to be attacked is prepared. Using the results obtained by simulating each macro model and current, high-speed electromagnetic wave analysis is realized. The validity of the proposed method is verified by performing evaluation experiments.

This paper explores the influences of creating social tags for academic papers by novice users over time. This study distinguishes itself from related studies by examining users' perspectives through three factors - document, social and personal factors. In the study, which was conducted in two time periods, diaries and interviews were employed to elicit the subjects' influences of tags choices. During the two time periods, subjects were asked to collect and tag academic papers. They were requested to fill in their diaries after assigning tags to the papers. Subjects were also interviewed to gain more insights. The outcome from both diaries and interviews were then triangulated, where the themes related to the factors emerged. Themes that emerged include documents usage, document attributes, social ties, opinion expression and organizing strategies. Results showed that the tags assigned by the subjects were influenced by all the factors. The influence from documents usage, document attributes and organizing strategies tended to play a more dominant role than social ties and opinion expression. Also, there did not seem to be any change in the levels of influence between the two time periods. Implications of our findings are discussed.

There have been a lot of challenges in monetizing the quality and failure cost generically due to the nature of software industry. An organization must monetize the benefits and cost of improvement programs. Measuring and reporting the cost of quality (CoQ) is an important pre-requisite for achieving delivery excellence. CoQ is computed by summing up price of conformance plus non-conformance into prevention, appraisal and failure cost incurred for delivering a product. The cost of software quality tries to quantify what is the cost incurred for quality as against each dollar that has been spend for development. Generic industry trend shows about 40% towards fixing and controlling quality, the optimal suggested industry benchmark is around 20-25%. The objective of CoQ model is to measure and control the cost of poor quality and provide tools that could enable delivery excellence.

A novel flash fast-locking digital phase-locked loop (DPLL) is presented and behaviorally modeled using Verilog-AMS. The DPLL operation includes two stages: (1) a novel coarse-tuning stage for frequency tracking which employs a flash algorithm leading to a thermometer code as done in flash A/D converters (ADCs) and (2) a fine-tuning stage similar to conventional (classical) DPLLs. The coarse-tuning stage includes an array of frequency comparators, a priority encoder, a digital-to-analog converter (DAC), and control logic including a monostable multivibrator. Verilog-AMS (Smash) is used to design and simulate both the fast-locking DPLL and its classical counterpart. Simulations revealed a lock time improvement (reduction) by a factor of 1.50-3.00 depending on the size of the input frequency hop in favor of the fast-locking DPLL.

On-demand multimedia services are more popular than ever and continue to grow. Consumers can now stream music, movies, television, and video games at the push of a button. Such services typically require a minimum connection speed to support streaming. However, transient network effects such as packet loss and delay variation can play a crucial role in determining the user quality of experience (QoE) in streaming multimedia systems. This paper will seek to establish the subjective impact of negative network effects on the user experience of a popular cloud-based on-demand video game service.

Some of the work done in the Baker lab at the University of Nevada, Reno has been directed towards the analysis of muscle tissue in a single molecule arrangement. The process is a novel high-throughput single molecule binding assay or SiMBA for short. This assay is performed by binding single-headed skeletal muscle myosin to a cover slip and looking at how the fluorescently labeled actin filaments bind to these myosin as imaged with a fluorescence microscope. The conditions are varied and the effects on actin-myosin binding kinetics are observed. In order to analyze the binding times and unbound times, a researcher must observe the interactions and manually collect the data. This particular method of data collection is tedious and time consuming, thereby making this portion of the experiment the "rate limiting" factor for producing results in a timely manner. As this can take many hours to analyze a one minute long movie, an automated or semi-automated solution would be beneficial to this assay. This paper presents the design and implementation of a semi-automated solution for identifying and tracking a variable number of objects that exhibit a multitude of behaviors, and extracting the specific behaviors of motion and stagnation as well as the duration of these behaviors.

The raise of social Web brought new ways of disseminating information, news and published content over the Web. Social news aggregator Web sites such as Digg and Reddit are already known for their role in promoting user-based content by utilizing story submission and voting system. Balatarin, the first and one of the most famous news aggregator in Persian language, is a social book marking Web site, which is developed by combining the underlying idea of Reddit, Digg, News vine and Del.icio.us. Although Balata in is among popular and influential Web sites in the Middle East, there has not been any analytical research on it. Here, we studied the user activity to see whether it is dominated by few users' participation, or social incidents can motivate users and influence their contribution. For our study, we collected data representing user activity over the course of three years. We carried out some computational analysis on user participation under social circumstances, such as blockade and election in Iran. The evaluation of the results shows that such social factors can motivate users to break the tyranny of the minority submitters by contributing more.

The presence of Zinc-protoporphyrin (ZPP) in a patient's blood sample suggests: Iron depletion, unacceptable rate of iron delivery to bone marrow, and/or led toxicity in the patient. Therefore, existing of traceable amount of ZPP in a patient's blood causes gradual catastrophic health problems for the patient. Do the stresses in a work environment contribute to the presence of ZPP in workers' blood? In this paper, we investigate the answer to the proposed question in reference to the blue color workers of an aluminum factory. The workers are exposed to a spectrum of the stresses. The "bad body posture" is in one end of the spectrum and "exposure to magnetic field" is at the other end and a variety of stresses such as exposure to noise, gas, fume, extreme heat/cold, vibration, radiation, and allergens are in between. The goal of this investigation is two-fold: (a) introduction and utilization of the Soft Semantic Association Degrees (SSADs) approach for analysis of the relationship between work environment stresses and ZPP behavior and (b) identification of the conditions under which the workers can be relatively safe.
