From micro culture of learning to regional needs: development of international social entrepreneurship course 从微观文化学习到区域需求:国际社会创业课程的开发

Social entrepreneurship education has grown an interest in the field of higher education (Howorth, Smith, and Parkinson, 2012; Mueller, Brahm, and Neck, 2015). Entrepreneurship education on social enterprises includes the same dilemmas as entrepreneurship education in general, but it also entails definitional choices on how social enterprises and social entrepreneurship are viewed. Entrepreneurship educators advocate experiential learning, and the course described here builds on experiential elements. This paper describes an aligned social entrepreneurship course organised by five higher education institutions. The course builds social entrepreneurship learning experience on three main dimensions: reflexive learning with international peer learners, using theoretical perspectives of social enterprises; social entrepreneurship and business models as a source for constructing new ideas, and grounding learning to a regional context by studying in a region and interacting with a locally rooted social entrepreneur.

The development of the Internet is inseparable from increasing the speed of information transmission between computer network devices using optical cables, which may contain several dozen or hundreds of optical fibres. A separate optical fibre can simultaneously transmit information from different information sources using signals with different wavelengths. A network infrastructure with such capabilities is called a Passive Optical Network. Using a separate optical fibre makes it possible to increase the real-time data transfer rates by millions of times compared to the existing data transfer rates. The need for high information transmission speeds arises when connecting important national or interstate networks. A much lower data transfer speed is sufficient for an individual user of Internet services. Literature sources describe optical access networks in which individual optical fibres are connected to the devices of service users, and the fibres themselves are interconnected according to the tree principle: primary fibre branches are first connected to the trunk, then secondary fibre branches are connected to their remote ends, and so on. Connections are made using optical splitters. The main feature of such a network is that the distances from the beginning of the trunk to the remote ends of the fibres are usually relatively small (up to a few kilometres), and the attenuation of optical signals in such lines differs little (up to a few dB). The networks created in such a way are called FTTx (Fibre To The x). The article investigates a network configuration in which user devices can be serially connected to the same optical fibre called a trunk. The length of such a trunk fibre can reach tens of kilometres. In this case, there can be different lengths of the optical line from the beginning of the line to the individual consumer devices, and the signal attenuations could also be different (up to 30 dB). To equalise optical signal attenuations, an optical signal splitter with appropriate parameters must be used at each point of connection of the user device to the trunk. The methodology for calculating the parameters of optical splitters connected to the trunk is presented. The functional dependence of the coverage of the passive optical network on the number of trunk splitters was found.

Atvejo vadybininko veiklos motyvacija 案例经理活动的原因

Case management is increasingly identified as an effective method for solving social challenges and ensuring a child’s wellbeing and positive changes in the family. However, it came to Lithuania quite recently, in 2018. The case manager coordinates assistance to the at-risk family and works in a tea with a social worker and specialists from different institutions. It is noticed that both clients and specialists still do not always understand the specifics of the activities of this specialist. The work is complicated by constantly changing laws, which affects specialists’ emotional well-being, the assessment of the effectiveness of their activities, motivation and satisfaction with the professional activities. It is believed that all over the world and in Lithuania, a significant part of employees, including the field of social work, are not satisfied with their work, have low motivation and experience negative feelings. In Lithuania, there is a lack of research in the field of case management in social work. Therefore, while conducting the study, efforts were made to analyse what motivates and demotivates case managers in their activities. A qualitative study was conducted, and a content analysis was used to analyse the results. The study results show that case managers are most motivated in professional activities by the desire to help families in difficulty realise personal goals. They appreciate obvious positive performance results, satisfaction with professional activities, and wages. Motivation is increased by good professional relations with colleagues; moral support of the line manager and colleagues; absence of routine and monotony in professional activities; monitoring changes in clients’ lives and their gratitude; establishing good relationships and successful cooperation with other specialists; bonuses. Motivation is reduced by the complexity and specifics of professional activities; difficulties in communication and cooperation with clients and other specialists; unmotivated clients who do not accept help; significant changes in legislation; negative information and events; emotional background, and too little awareness of the case manager’s position.

Pasitenkinimas studijomis – nuo studento iki absolvento 从学生到毕业生的学习满意度

The article discusses students’ satisfaction and the factors that shape it and the change in the level of satisfaction as the student’s educational experience increases. Understanding a student’s study experience, the ability to predict the level of satisfaction and maintain it remains a relevant topic in higher education. To achieve sustainable performance, high quality of studies and students’ satisfaction become the main factors in the competitive struggle of higher education institutions. Students’ satisfaction is also an indicator of the effectiveness of the institution. Considering the fact that students’ satisfaction is a changing phenomenon, the article analyses which factors promoting student satisfaction are the most important to achieve potentially the highest level of students’ satisfaction at different stages of studies and after graduation. After reviewing the scientific literature, the factors shaping students’ satisfaction were identified. The article presents research results on the opinions of students and graduates in the aspect of students’ (graduate’) satisfaction with studies and analyses the links between the level of students’ satisfaction and the factors that promote students’ satisfaction. The research results reveal that the level of students’ satisfaction decreases as their learning experience in higher education increases and slightly increases after gaining work experience. The study found that the motives for choosing a higher education institution and study programme do not affect the level of students’ satisfaction. The main services provided by the higher education institution that have the greatest influence on students’ satisfaction include study quality, balanced study load, and study and learning environment. In the first and final years, the practical applicability of acquired knowledge and skills in professional activities is important for students’ satisfaction.

Dirbtinis intelektas aukštajame moksle: viešosios komunikacijos Lietuvoje aspektas 高等教育中的人工智能:立陶宛公共传播方面

Education and higher education institutions can use artificial intelligence to improve the efficiency of teaching and learning processes or support learners. However, they also face many challenges related to academic integrity and acquiring the required knowledge and skills. The changes have been particularly evident with the introduction of artificial intelligence tools. For this reason, the past year has seen an increase in scholarly research and dissemination of information about the opportunities, challenges, and problems of using artificial intelligence in higher education. In Lithuania, there are no studies on the impact of artificial intelligence on changes in teaching and learning methods in higher education and related topics. Since the development of artificial intelligence tools is extremely fast, and users can quickly use them in various activities, it is necessary to urgently analyse the problem and look for possible solutions to the problems that have arisen. The article aims to examine the issue of artificial intelligence in higher education and analyse public communication about AI in higher education in Lithuania. The research results showed that official and public communication about the use of AI in Lithuanian higher education is insufficient. There is neither communication about specific challenges arising for Lithuanian higher education, comments from Lithuanian higher education institutions and other education representatives, nor recommendations to higher education institutions regarding the application of AI provided. As a result, higher education institutions or academic staff have to analyse the current situation and make decisions independently and quickly. In the face of a lack of communication, after analysing the sources and considering the available experience on plagiarism prevention, comparative advice for the academic staff on AI and plagiarism prevention is presented.

The article analyses the peculiarities of social work with refugees and asylum seekers. In recent years, the number of refugees and asylum seekers worldwide has increased. In 2021, Lithuania and other European Union countries faced many refugees from Belarus. The war in Ukraine, which began in 2022, when most people were forced to seek refuge in the European Union countries, is also a major challenge. Having arrived in a new country, refugees and asylum seekers must adapt to the new environment. Social workers contribute to integrating refugees and asylum seekers; however, they often experience many challenges while aiding this group of clients. Dealing with nationals of other countries requires specific preparation from specialists. Therefore, due to the increase in the number of refugees in Lithuania and around the world in recent years, it is important to pay more attention to the field of social work with refugees and asylum seekers. This would improve social workers’ readiness to deal with people from other cultures and improve the social services provided to this group of clients. The study aims to analyse the peculiarities of social work with refugees and asylum seekers. Methods of structured interview and qualitative content analysis were applied for the research involving 3 social workers. The study results revealed that social workers face cultural challenges in aiding refugees and asylum seekers, such as a lack of common language, the impact of religion on the provision of social services, different perceptions of time, and differences in the roles of men and women. Also, due to the traumas and negative experiences, the psychological state of most refugees and asylum seekers is poor. Thus, those people can have positive and negative attitudes towards social workers and the services provided. Social workers noted that when working with such a client group, it is very important to have no prejudices or stereotypes and constantly improve knowledge. Interinstitutional cooperation is important while providing social services. However, it has been observed that some institutions tend to cooperate, while some cooperate unwillingly. Regarding working conditions, respondents said they were satisfied, but the conditions could be improved, as could the national political system.

Teamwork is currently a widely discussed issue. However, it is still unclear what attitude oral care specialists have towards such cooperation. There is a lot of information about what teamwork should be, but it is worthwhile to know how it is reflected in the specialists’ clinical work. Therefore, some problematic questions arise: Do oral care specialists work as a team? Do all the members of the team feel equally important? What can prevent from working in a team? It has been ascertained that a bigger part of dentists (74.4 per cent) think that a dental hygienist is necessary for teamwork, while a lower number of dentists (20.9 per cent) consider that a dental hygienist is unnecessary for teamwork. Most dentists (84 per cent) work in a team with a dental hygienist, and the rest (16 per cent) do not. Based on the research data, dentists do not work together with the dental hygienists (41.2 per cent) because they do professional dental hygiene themselves and trust their personal capabilities more. The research found that the bigger part (59.9 per cent) of the respondents feel a professional hierarchy. Based on the research data, 62 per cent of the respondents enjoy teamwork because it is quicker and more qualitative than individual work. One of the most important factors for dental hygienists working in a team is sincerity and cooperation (97 per cent); while for dentists, it is patience and tolerance (84.9 per cent). Considering the respondents’ opinions, it has been revealed that the most significant impact of teamwork on the result of the service (58.8 per cent) is that the planned work is done more qualitatively.

Neigiamų socialinių reiškinių prevencija ikimokyklinio ugdymo mokyklose 预防学前教育中的不良社会事件

Nowadays, children are exposed to negative social phenomena, such as alcoholism, drug addiction, bullying, and violence at an early age. Pre-primary and preschool children should understand what it is like to grow up in a healthy and safe environment avoid using dangerous substances and risky behaviour. However, it is evident that the analysis of preventive preschool education in our country has not yet attracted much attention. The article aims to assess the prevention of negative social factors in preschool education institutions. The main research method is a questionnaire survey. Based on the results of the survey on preschool pedagogues’ opinions, it has been found that in the nurseries-kindergartens of the city of Panevėžys, the development of children’s resistance to negative social factors receives an adequate amount of recognition. Educators apply preventive programmes recommended by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport in their daily work. The prevention of the use of alcohol, tobacco and other psychotropic substances and bullying is integrated into pre-primary and preschool education programmes. It is reflected in the content of education and the development of competencies. Preventive activities in preschool education institutions primarily aim at children’s emotional education. Children learn to know and manage their emotions, recognise negative social phenomena and situations, react appropriately, overcome social and emotional difficulties, resist negative external influences, and be responsible for personal and other persons’ behaviour. In nurseries-kindergartens, various forms and methods of preventive activities are used: games, artistic, creative activities, and various information tools. Thematic preventive events are organised for parents and the institution community, joint events for children and parents, and often psychologists are invited to participate in these meetings. The main challenges faced by preschool education institutions in carrying out preventive education are poor coordination of activities, lack of consistency, and continuity, low involvement of the members of the institution’s community, especially parents, and lack of funds. It should also be noted that pedagogues lack specific knowledge, information, and experience in preventive work.

The Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infection caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. Although most patients with COVID-19 develop a mild form, approximately 14 per cent get a severe form of the disease, which requires hospitalisation and additional oxygen supply, and 5 per cent require to be treated in the intensive care unit. The patients who fell ill with COVID-19 and have disturbed biosocial functions are provided with rehabilitation services. Still, there is a lack of research that would reveal the effect of physiotherapy on respiratory system function, physical capacity, and balance. The study aims to evaluate the effect of physiotherapy on patients with COVID-19 disease. 15 participants (the mean age 56.00 ± 4.61 years) who had moderate COVID-19 disease and were hospitalised at least 30 days before the study participated in the research. All participants received physiotherapy for 4 weeks, 5 times a week, each session lasting 30 minutes. Participants were evaluated twice, before the study and after 4 weeks. The assessment methods included spirometry (forced vital capacity [FVC] and forced expiratory volume in the first second after maximal inspiration [FEV1]), the measurement of chest excursion, the assessment of balance on the Berg scale, and the assessment of physical capacity with a 6-minute walk test. After physiotherapy intervention, FVC (p<0.05) and FEV1 (p<0.05) increased, Berg test results improved (p<0.05). It can be concluded that four-week physiotherapy, including breathing and balance exercises, can be used as an effective rehabilitation tool for individuals who have recovered from COVID-19 disease.

Wood is a material that is easy to recycle and quickly decomposes in nature, so replacing plastics with wooden products in advertising could contribute to sustainable development and ecology. Infrared CO2 lasers (beam wavelength 10.6 µm) are widely used for producing and processing wood and advertising products. Laser engraving of the material involves the destruction of the surface of the wood structure and the carbonisation process, during which a certain depth and colour of the engraved design are obtained. Changes in colour and depth are influenced by the type of wood and its thickness, laser power, energy flow density, and movement speed. In this research, the image prepared by the Adobe Illustrator program was imported into the RDWorks V8 computer program, connected to the Bodor BCL-MU CO2 laser used for engraving. After creating the test samples, the influence of technological parameters (speed and power) of CO2 laser exposure on the colour and surface morphology of birch plywood was analysed, and the correlation between ΔE and Ra parameters was determined using a spectrophotometric comparative analysis of surface colour tones and a three-dimensional (3D) morphology measurement method. Infrared CO2 lasers (beam wavelength 10.6 µm) are widely used for producing and processing wood and advertising products. Laser engraving of the material involves the destruction of the surface of the wood structure and the carbonisation process, during which a certain depth and colour of the engraved design are obtained. Changes in colour and depth are influenced by the type of wood and its thickness, laser power, energy flow density, and movement speed. In this research, the image prepared by the Adobe Illustrator program was imported into the RDWorks V8 computer program, connected to the Bodor BCL-MU CO2 laser used for engraving. After creating the test samples, the influence of technological parameters (speed and power) of CO2 laser exposure on the colour and surface morphology of birch plywood was analysed, and the correlation between ΔE and Ra parameters was determined using a spectrophotometric comparative analysis of surface colour tones and a three-dimensional (3D) morphology measurement method.
