Tem o presente o objetivo de resenhar o livro Educacion y esperanza en las fronteras de la discapacidad: estudio de caso unico sobre la construccion creativa de la identidad de Ignacio Calderon Almendros. Com uma tematica original, o livro autor do reconstroi o processo educativo de seu irmao mais novo, Rafael, diagnosticado clinicamente com trissomia e identificado socialmente como um “Sindrome de Down”, ate o momento em que chega a educacao formal superior e se torna a primeira pessoa com tais caracteristicas a se graduar em trompete e receber o titulo de musico nesse nivel de ensino na Espanha. De forma densa teoricamente, coesa textualmente e profunda no que se refere a sua relacao afetiva com seu irmao, o autor elabora uma narrativa solidamente apoiada em material de pesquisa, decorrentes de horas de entrevistas com varios grupos focais sobre suas relacoes com a deficiencia. Das entrevistas com familiares e amigos, passando pela analise de documentos oficiais e informes clinicos, as enquetes com seus professores e com estudantes do curso de formacao de educadores, o autor analisa esse material diversificado a luz do qual reconstitui o percurso de Rafael, dando visibilidade a uma serie de barreiras comuns enfrentadas por pessoas como seu irmao, assim como demarcando seus modos de ser, o apoio de seu entorno familiar e os devires. O livro resenhado tem uma importância impar , analoga ao protagonismo de Rafael, para oxigenar um campo de estudos e de trabalho em que muitos pesquisadores e professores abriram mao de talhar brechas, de enxergarem em percursos como o de pessoas com alguma deficiencia a possibilidade da criacao de modos de existencia outros e de as ouvirem antes de lhes enquadrar ou de lhes incluir segundo os preceitos teoricos ou tecnico-cientificos.

In this article the postcolonial context is a site of production of knowledge from where a reflection over the different lines of development within cultural Marxism in the way these are presented and developed in cultural studies. From there, begins a reflection on contemporary aesthetics understanding that aesthetic practices are linked to the work of imagination of ordinary people intensely connected to the work of capitalism and its organization and re-organization on a global scale. Indeed, the function of aesthetics is not simply dedicated to the sale of messages and images, but to the self-building of products and affiliate groups in the new millennium. The new technologies of representation are the centers of public education that serve as a forum for the work of imagination of the great masses of the people in order to organize their pasts, presents, and draw their futures. On the other side, we see the aesthetic works of postcolonial imagination, its criticism of capitalism and the parables of modernization. It is this postcolonial aesthetic work which represents the voices of an alternative existential cosmopolitanism that could put our current historical moment into perspective and thereby achieve our quest for transcendence and transformation.

This paper presents a narrative around the defense of an autoethnographic doctoral thesis, while exploring this rite of passage, as a problematic space with tensions that initially emerged to define how to defend a work of this nature following a standardized format. Also, reflections of doctoral direction of this process, as an area of co-construction not only between them (the author), but among others who collaborate and helped transform an unfortunate essay in a creative exercise, erecting the idea of presenting the final defense as a story.

The First International Congress of Qualitative Research (ICQR) was launched in 2005 by a group of qualitative researchers from the English-speaking world, led by Norman Denzin. Through its organization, ICQR began promoting the development of Qualitative Inquiry critical knowledge, searching for quality enhancement and the emergence of a critical qualitative researchers’ organization capable to confront to the political, scientific, and academic problems of the decade. In 2007, within the Third ICQI was launched ADIS (A Day in Spanish and Portuguese) with the purpose of bringing the Spanish speaking scholars’ voice into the Congress. Later on, with the incorporation of Portuguese speaking scholars ADIS transformed into ADISP (A Day in Spanish and Portuguese). This paper provides some information and reflections about our ADIS-ADISP experience. Qualitative Research pioneers and editors consider ADIS-ADISP an important precedent from where the necessity to develop a meeting editorial space for Spanish and Portuguese qualitative researchers arouse and materialized in this Journal.

This paper explores the discourses of the social bases form the Guayaquil society around management of the revolucion ciudadana government: perceptions, developing ideologies and folklores. The aim of this study was to determine the positions that draw lines of the discursive map to the government of Alianza Pais (AP). The data supporting this research were collected and analyzed using qualitative tools through a socio-hermeneutic approach. The results of this study indicate that the management of this without ignoring the rating of change that is the brand of AP. Finally, the data from this study are limited to Guayaquil.

How to have an empirical social science based on data, when the practices that produce data are under assault. The skeptics will not be silenced. Criticism comes from all sides (Koro-Ljungberg, 2016). The argument is straightforward: things, words, “become data only when theory acknowledges them as data” (St. Pierre, 2011, p. 621). In a single gesture, doubt replaces certainty, no theory, method, form of data analysis, discourse, genre or tradition has “ a universal and general claim as the ‘right’ or privileged form of authoritative knowledge (Richardson, 2000, p. 928). More is at play .
