A teenager with swelling in the left maxillary canine region exhibited an atypical combination of three rare sporadic anomalies of teeth. The clinical and radiographic evaluation revealed an unerupted odontoma, an impacted maxillary left deciduous supernumerary canine, an impacted maxillary left permanent canine, and the bilateral absence of mandibular lateral incisors. The findings led to the diagnosis of a non-syndromic case of concomitant hypohyperdontia. Only a small number of cases of hypo-hyperdontia have agenesis of mandibular lateral incisors and odontomas, but none have deciduous supernumerary canines. The authors thus bring a new combination of hypohyperdontia cases. This case report also discusses the treatment options of hypo-hyperdontia and the consequences of delaying treatment.

Natal or neonatal teeth seem to be a rare phenomenon in newborns. It is commonly thought that extracting those teeth is a reasonable choice to comfort the mother and the baby during breastfeeding. However, in such cases, the pediatric dentist must be solicited for further exploration and suitable management. We reported on a one month baby girl with neonatal teeth conserved and followed up during the first year of life.

Dental anxiety plays a crucial role in managing the children in the dental setup. Anxiety can occur due to various factors; multiple studies have stated that parenting styles affect children's dental anxiety and behaviour. These parenting styles can also influence the child's personality, psychological and social development. Hence, the present review is intended to summarize various parenting styles and attitudes that could affect the paediatric patient behaviour in the dental office. Furthermore, a wide range of new parenting styles which are not yet reported in the literature is also discussed.

The recent outbreak of coronavirus created a massive impact on the healthcare profession. The especially dental community has been focused more on by various researchers. The role of the dental nurse in a dental operatory was also crucial. Unlike other health care professions, the dental nurse role is very imperative in the dental operatory. Hence, the purpose of the present short communication was to discuss the role of dental nurses in dental operatory, discussion on established guidelines and opinions of dental nurses.

Aim: Comparison of efficacy of Pre-cooled and plain 5% lidocaine topical gel on pain perception during needle insertion during LA administration in children. Methods: Thirty children requiring bilateral infiltration anaesthesia of the age 6-10 years were selected for this split mouth study. Each injection site was randomly allotted to the control and intervention groups. Pulse rate, blood pressure was evaluated before; during and after LA infiltration and pain perception was evaluated using Won bakers scale. Data was statistically analysed using independent t-test and Man Whitney-U test (p-value <0.05). Results: The results obtained with intervention group, during LA administration was statistically significant with respect to pulse rate, diastolic blood pressure and pain perception (p-value=0.001). Conclusion: Pain experienced after application of pre-cooled topical anesthetic gel before LA infiltration is less compared to plain topical gel.

Background: To reduce the prevalence of dental problems, especially dental caries, the Ministry of Health has launched a "2030 Indonesia Caries-free" program. The program targets the DMF-T of 12-year-old children to be reduced to below 1.26 by 2030. Therefore, it is necessary to design a dental health education program to increase people's motivation to adopt dental health behavior. Motivation is focused because it is an essential factor that supports a person in making decisions and behaving. Aim: This study evaluates the pilot training for trainers using the motivational interviewing method to change dental health behavior. Method: This program is designed using training for trainer methods with prepared participants to educate the community in their area. Participants are trained by a motivational interviewing coach and practice the motivational interviewing skills with a simulated client. This thirty-hour training includes a four-phase structure; lectures, case handling, practicum, and trials. The evaluation is carried out through three out of four-level evaluation methods from Kirkpatrick. Result: Thirty women were recruited for this training. The women are cadres in integrated health service posts. Evaluation of this training revealed that reaction, learning, and behavior level show a good outcome. Conclusion: Despite the limitation of participants' stiffness during skill practice, the trial run of this training program succeeded in producing thirty cadres ready to implement the program in the community.

Aim: To evaluate and compare the efficacy of two 5% sodium fluoride varnishes containing amorphous calcium phosphate and casein phosphopeptide amorphous calcium phosphate respectively on the plaque pH, salivary fluoride ion release and patient acceptability. Methods: Seventy children were selected from a residential school for the study. Baseline plaque pH, salivary fluoride ion levels were determined. Varnish application was made, and the plaque pH and salivary fluoride ion release were determined at 24 hours, 3 months’ and 6 months’ post varnish application. Patient acceptability was determined immediately after varnish application. Results: No difference in the plaque pH and salivary fluoride ion levels were obtained among the two study groups at all tested time intervals. However, there was a difference in the salivary fluoride ion levels at baseline and at all the three post interventional time periods for both the groups, i.e., at 24 hours (for Group 1 p= 0.00 for Group 2 p=0.00), at 3 months (for Group 1 p=0.00 for Group 2 p=0.00) and at 6 months (for Group 1 p= 0.00 for Group 2 p=0.00). There was no statistically significant difference was observed in the patient acceptability between the two groups (p=0.709). Conclusion: Both the fluoride varnishes can be considered to be equally efficacious when compared based on

Prosthodontic rehabilitation of a hypohydrotic ectodermal dysplasia patient with extracoronal attachments: A case report 少水外胚层发育不良伴冠外附着物的修复康复一例

Prosthodontic rehabilitation in a patient with hereditary ectodermal dysplasia (ED) is often challenging due to compromised intraoral supporting structures. The recent advances in dental materials and improved techniques provide an array of options in restoring both the aesthetics and function of the stomatognathic system, especially in complicated scenarios. The literature search provided diversified modalities of treatment approaches for individuals affected with ED. This article describes the use of an extra coronal attachment in the prosthodontic management of a hypohydrotic ectodermal dysplasia patient presenting with severe oligodontia.
