Show me the numbers! - Student-facing Interventions in Adaptive Learning Environments for German Spelling 给我看数字!面向学生的德语拼写适应性学习环境干预

Since adaptive learning comes in many shapes and sizes, it is crucial to find out which adaptations can be meaningful for which areas of learning. Our work presents the result of an experiment conducted on an online platform for the acquisition of German spelling skills. We compared the traditional online learning platform to three different adaptive versions of the platform that implement machine learning-based student-facing interventions that show the personalized solution probability. We evaluate the different interventions with regard to the error rate, the number of early dropouts, and the users competency. Our results show that the number of mistakes decreased in comparison to the control group. Additionally, an increasing number of dropouts was found. We did not find any significant effects on the users competency. We conclude that student-facing adaptive learning environments are effective in improving a persons error rate and should be chosen wisely to have a motivating impact.

In Beratungssituationen, besonders in komplexen Domanen, wie beispielsweise der Finanzbranche, ist ein effektiver Wissenstransfer vom Dienstleister zum Kunden heute zwingend notwendig. Bis heute wird dieser Wissensaustausch aber weder strukturiert forciert, noch durch die heute eingesetzten (IT)-Tools unterstutzt. Aufbauend auf dem Konzept des situierten und erfahrungsbasierten Lernens leiten wir Design-Richtlinien fur kollaborative, in der Beratung genutzten, IT-Systeme ab um das genannte Ziel zu erreichen. Wir zeigen, wie diese Design-Richtlinien in einem aktuellen System prototypisch umgesetzt wurden. Anhand der Erkenntnisse aus einer realitatsnahen Evaluation des Prototypen, zeigen wir Schwachen und Potentiale auf.

Ausgehend von einem neuartigen Beratungskonzept, das einen multimedialen Erlebnisraum im Reisebüro eröffnet, wird ein On-the-JobTrainingskonzept vorgestellt. Die Kompetenzen, die in der Beratungssituation wichtig sind, werden von der Bedienkompetenz bis zur Beratungskompetenz in einem kooperativen, zielorientierten, selbstgesteuerten und explorativen Lernkonzept aufgenommen. Eine erste Evaluierung dieses Konzeptes ist vielsprechend bzgl. Anwendbarkeit des Konzeptes im Arbeitsalltag und der Lernerzufriedenheit mit dem konzeptbegleitenden Informationssystem „SmartTravel“.
