Current remedial options for recurrent neuroblastoma have poor outcomes that warrant the development of novel restorative methodologies. Naringin (4',5,7-trihydroxy-flavanone-7-rhamnoglucoside), a naturally occurring flavonoid present in various Indian medicinal spices, has been shown anti-inflammatory and anticancer activities. In this paper, naringin was used to evaluate its anti-proliferative impact on human SK-N-MC neuroblastoma cell lines. Cytotoxicity and reactive oxygen species (ROS) were measured using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay and 2,7-dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate (DCFH-DA) test, respectively. It was found that naringin induced 100% cancer cell inhibition at 120 μM, hence, 30, 45 and 60 μM doses were chosen for anticancer examinations. Significant apoptosis was recorded at 60 μM dose of naringin which was found associated with the generation of ROS. Overall, the investigation indicated that naringin induces apoptosis in SK-N-MC cells to produce ROS in a mitochondria-dependent and independent manner. In conclusion, at high doses, naringin adequately inhibits the growth of solid neuroblastoma tumour and has high bioavailability, particular toxicity and a high margin of security, making it a possible candidate for a potential clinical treatment of neuroblastoma.

2-Azetidinone skeleton is well established as the pharmacophore of β-lactam antibiotics. β-lactam antibiotics are the most widely employed class of antibiotics. The structural diversity of biologically active β-lactam antibiotics led to the development of many novel methods for the construction of appropriately substituted azetidine with attendant control of functional group and stereochemistry. Azetidine derivatives are reported to show a variety of antimicrobial, antitubercular, anticonvulsant, anti-inflammatory and cardiovascular activities. These activities showed that the minor change in the substitution pattern activities of azetidine derivatives have enhanced dramatically.

Snake is considered and proved to be the most potently poisonous reptile. It is evidenced that venom of some snakes can cause the death of an individual immediately, even without giving time to utter a word. In modern toxicology, extensive study is being continued on snake venom to know it properly with special reference to its composition, property, mode of action, agents that can neutralize its effect and many secrets are invented by till now. In Indian mythology, there are many stories about snakes. Indians imagine a goddess as the mother of the snakes and the snakes are mentioned to have immense power and strength even to hold the earth. Several snakes like Basuki and Takshaka are mentioned as divine snakes and their anger is said to be of destructive power. Ayurveda, the well-accepted ancient health science, has also discussed the snake venom in detail and many interesting facts about it are also mentioned in the classics. Classification of snakes, the character of each of them, their behaviour, the effect of bite, preventive measures of snakebite, diagnosis, mode of action of snake venom, treatment etc. are the beauty of the Ayurvedic classics. Interestingly, Ayurvedic classics describe the use of snake venom for the treatment of some critical diseases which can be considered as a unique concept. A discussion on the use of snake venom as medicine is considered to be important and beneficial. It is expected that the information provided in this article will be able to inspire the researchers to explore new things in the field of not only toxicology but also medical care of some serious and incurable diseases.

The indigenous systems of medicines, specifically, Ayurveda have been practiced since centuries. Even though dentistry was not a specialized branch of Ayurveda, it is included in its Shalakya Tantra (system of surgery). Deformities such as oral cavity, plaques and infections were managed in ancient India by using plant based drugs as they are used frequently due to their relatively safe and effective nature. These drugs are being overlooked and not the part of main course of treatments. However, recent studies have been reported their multidimensional therapeutic potential and also comparatively effective and rapid onset of action. Oil pulling (Kaval, Gandush) practice is claimed to cure about 30 systemic diseases. The oil therapy is preventative as well as curative. Ayurveda advises oil gargling to purify the entire system as it holds that each section of the tongue is connected to different organs such as to the kidneys, lungs, liver, heart, small intestines, stomach, colon, and spine etc. Oil pulling has been used extensively as a traditional Indian folk remedy for many years to prevent decay, bleeding gums, dryness of throat, for strengthening teeth, gums and the jaw. It is a powerful detoxifying Ayurvedic technique. It can be done using oils like sunflower oil or sesame oil. Thus, Scientific validations of the Ayurvedic dental health practices could justify their incorporation into modern dental care. Use of safe, quality products and practices should be ensured based on available evidence if traditional medicine is to be acknowledged as part of primary health care.

The tropical plant species of family Piperaceae had been consumed from ancient time and has reputed place in the Indian Ayurvedic system as a medicine and as a spice in foods. Piper species are also an important part in folklore medicine of Latin America and West Indies. Piper attenuatum Buch.-Ham. ex Miq., an important Piper species, mainly found in the southern tropical and sub-tropical regions of India and is much used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine. However, there is insufficient research about the mechanisms behind the medicinal action of P. attenuatum but diverse pharmacological activities like antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-hyperglycaemic and antioxidant are reported from various extracts of this plant. It contains various important phytochemicals like crotepoxide, piperine, guineensine and piperlonguminine which are responsible for its therapeutic efficacy. Crotepoxide is reported to exhibit significant antitumor activity. The seed extract is reported to have antioxidant activity. Piperine is reported to increase the bioavailability of other drugs by interacting with various enzymes responsible for metabolism. The current article provides an updated literature review on recent advancement on pharmacognosy, chemistry and pharmacological activities of P. attenuatum.

Many medical drugs extensively cause side effects and their prices are out of reach of the common man particularly of that from the developing countries. Thus the major objectives of this article are choice of appropriate drugs from all medical fields after due research-based rationalization, down-costing of prices of drugs to qualify their use at poor country’s level and elimination of antagonism between the practitioners from different fields: mainstream, naturopathy, homeopathy, electronic gem therapy, traditional medicine, etc. Requisite secondary data was collected from the published literature on different fields of medicine, while the primary data based on self and other’s empirical experience, was computed recalling self- witnessed medical treatment cases and interviews of the experts from different fields. The data were then sorted, processed and interpreted; the results were reported as descriptive research. The results did impress to believe that nature is equipped with extensive cures of diseases from which the humanity is suffering and thus the research should be focused on the use of medicinal seeds and herbs to rationalize their use as antibacterial agents in particular and others in general. Many substances, if taken, in crude form, may undergo certain biochemical reactions more energetically and effectively to cure the ailing parts of the living body, rays scattered through a prismatic structure of diamonds can have soothing and energizing effects on body joints to relieve them from pain and so on. All the fields of medicine do have significant potential for eradication of a large number of diseases. It may be in the interest of humanity all over the globe to develop a strategy to pick what is the best in all of them for use to cure ailing humanity. To achieve better results, it is in the general interest of medical practice to merge all the fields to develop a synthesized system that may be called "Integrated Medicine”.

The acceptance and inclination of people towards so-called westernization have lead the human into a great trap of lifestyle-related disorders like diabetes. An alarming increase in the incidence of diabetes is an issue of great concern worldwide. India has turned out to be the diabetic capital of the world. The whole world is having an eye over Ayurveda with a hope to provide a better standard of living. A 65-year old aged person came to the OPD of All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) with the complaints of frequent urination, generalized weakness, tingling sensation, etc. markedly high blood sugar levels and no such associated complications. He had a sitting job profile of long-hours duration and had a sedentary lifestyle. The patient was examined using all Ayurvedic parameters and WHO criteria as well. After a thorough examination, he was diagnosed as diabetic or stoola pramehi with kaphapittaja prakriti for the very first time. He was prescribed with traditional Ayurvedic medications as mainstream therapy without any other system of medicine. He is on Ayurvedic treatment for the last 2 years. Significant reduction in the blood sugar levels was noted and the quality of life improved to about three times with the ongoing Ayurvedic medicines and the dietary regimens mentioned in the classics. Presently, the patient is living with a good and appreciable standard of health. The immense commercial potential of Ayurvedic science and its three-dimensional approach towards maintaining health in the physical, mental and spiritual plane attracted the highly stressed western population who have reached the saturation point of emotional, physical and moral insecurity. Ayurveda has been constantly struggling to keep pace with the growing craze of its own people towards westernization.it can prove to be the most effective therapy to reduce the financial burden of lifestyle disorders like diabetes in future.
