This article presents Michael Sandel’s concept on the tyranny of meritocracy and reimagining of solidarity and itsrelevance in Indonesia. Meritocracy is a kind of ideology that believes that those who are successful deserve tobreathe their success to their heart’s content, while for those who fail, there is no one to blame but themselves.Sandel’s view is that this logic makes meritocracy undermines togetherness and solidarity as the ethical foundationof democracy. The more we think that our success is our own effort, and the poor people’s failure as their own fault,it is harder for us to imagine ourselves in someone else’s shoes. Meritocracy makes liberal society accepts as fairthe hierarchy between the rich and the poor, the smart and the stupid, or the successful and the unsuccessful. Thisbelief generates arrogance for the winners and contempt for the losers. For Sandel, Trump’s populism in the US is aform of rebellion against the tyranny of meritocracy. To counter the tyranny of meritocracy and cultivate theimagination of solidarity, we should propose the idea of humility as a public virtue. Humility is an acknowledgmentthat all our talents, achievements, and success are not the results of our own efforts but rather it depends on theresources of the community and society that accepts these talents and abilities.Keywords: Meritocracy, Solidarity, Liberalism, Community, Humility.

This article aims to explain the political economy of the Internet and its relevance to democracy. Thiselaboration is an alternative to the utopian and dystopian techno-determinist approaches in viewing the relationshipbetween the Internet and democracy. From a political economy perspective, the Internet and its various derivatives,such as search engines, social media, e-commerce, and other platforms, are not only networks and communicationplatforms, but also instruments of commodification, surveillance, and control by global digital companies that basedin the United States of America to millions of users around the world. From the results of the literature study andconceptual analysis of the processes of commodification, surveillance, and control, the authors conclude that claimsabout the democratic characteristics of the Internet are ideological in nature. The claim hides the economic andpolitical interests of the United States and its global digital companies. What the United States and these globaldigital companies have done has stripped away basic democratic values, such as respect for and protection ofhuman rights, freedom, and equality. From that conclusion, the authors suggest the need for openness andmultilateral globalism in Internet governance so that it is more friendly towards democratic values.Key words: Commodification, democracy, Internet, political economy, surveillance

This article is based on a book by Emanuel Martasudjita on Inculturation Theology. The author of this article supports thestatement of E. Martasudjita that inculturation of theology is not a new reality, but has been known and practicedthroughout the history of the Church. By expanding on the description given by Martasudjita regarding the stages in thedevelopment of history, the author of the article draws on the basic insight from that history that inculturated theology is notconstructed, but must grow in the reflections made by the faithful about their Christian faith, where they use the way ofthinking, they have according to the culture they live in.From the research on history, it is learned that changes in form in theology often occur based on different favorite ideasheld by different cultures, besides that there has also been the formation of new theology, where people with certain culturalbackgrounds learn theology from other cultures. In this case it is easy to misunderstand which can trigger a long discussionthat results in a new form of expression of the Christian faith.By taking the results of this historical research, the author highlights the situation of practice of faith and reflection of faithin the Flores island in South East Indonesia.Keywords: Inculturation, history of theology, local culture in Flores, Basic Ecclesial Communities

This article focuses on identifying social capitals in preventing and handling religious intolerance in West Sumbaand Belu Regencies of NTT Province. Using qualitative approach, descriptive analysis, and employing interviews,and focused group discussions as methods of data collection, this study found that social capitals play a very crucialrole as social bounding in all communities in the three regencies. These social capitals include values such asopenness and willingness to accept others and differences, upholding unity and brotherhood, and traditional norms,customs (including kinship ties), symbols and language; the role of religious leaders, community leaders, traditionalleaders, interreligious harmony forums (FKUB), and youth forums. All of these social capitals become a force thatstrengthens tolerance and prevents intolerance in the three regencies. The implication is that Indonesia as a wholeand other parts of Indonesia can identify and use social capitals to strengthen tolerance and prevent intoleranceamong the people living in multicultural context.Keywords: social capital, intolerance prevention, social bonding, social bridging, social linking.

This article aims to investigate the communication between the ghosts of the dead and the living. It is quite commonthat the living talk to the ghosts of the dead through different rituals in the tradional religions. On the contrary, the studyabout communication between the ghost of the dead with the living is not very common. Therefore, a question in thisresearch is: “Is there any experience that the ghost of the dead talks to the living?” The assumption is that: there iscommunication between the ghost of the dead and the living. Using descriptive-qualitative method of research, the result ofthis study shows that there is communication between the ghosts of the dead and the living. The communication takes placethrough the medium of the paranormal in which the paranormal man or woman invites the ghost of the dead to talk to his orher family through paranormal man or woman or simply to get the message from the ghost. The communication also takesplace through dreams, and later on the message or messages that iare delivered in the dream become real or reallyhappened. Then, the communication of the ghost of the dead and the living is analyzed using postmodernism, fenomenology,and ethnometodology perspectives. Each perspective argues that the communication between the dead and the living isunderstandable and academically acceptable.Keywords: communication, dead, living, dream, paranormal, post modernism, fenomenolgy, and ethnomethodology.

This paper emphasizes globalization as a cultural phenomenon, one that has repeatedly been neglectedacademically. It is better known as an economic phenomenon for its capitalism-related, production-orientedsystem and economic growth. Thus, the global economy is no longer affected by nations but the transnationalcompanies. However, the global economy primarily is a cultural phenomenon. Closely related to economicglobalization is the spread of the Western civilization model which includes Western cultural values, marketeconomy, production patterns, consumption patterns, and Western lifestyles. Apart from the fact that the model ofWestern civilization has its own charm, the dissemination of this model is also embodied by ideological conceit,namely an attitude that imposes its own cultural values on other parties. This development certainly triggers anextreme attitude that rejects universal values and retreats into one's own particular culture. To prevent the clashof civilizations, intercultural dialogue becomes notable. Globalization offers opportunities for cross-culturalencounters, and therefore the establishment of a “clash of cultures” must be regarded as a myth.Keywords: Globalization, economy, religion, dialogue, ambivalence

Abstract: The Asian reality is characterized by religious and cultural diversity. Social changes and especially poverty are the complexities they contain. In such circumstances, the Church is called to face this reality. Theologians are trying to find an understanding of theology that fits the Asian context. C.S. Song is an Asian theologian who tries to respond to this reality with a thought about the theology of Rahim that he explains using the narrative method.
The theology of Rahim is a theology that guides humans to God's love and suffering and leads humans to freedom, justice and peace. The basic premise of Rahim's theology is contained in Passio: Passio as the starting point of theology, Rahim as Passio's "Mountain of Fire", and the disappearance of Passio in Christian Theology. Passio means love and suffering. Passio becomes suffering when faced with the reality of poverty, oppression, and it is precisely through that suffering that Passio becomes true love. Through the above understanding, the Church is called to realize its mission as a prophet who can present the Kingdom of God in the lives of the faithful. C.S. Song through the Theology of Rahim invites every believer to participate in realizing the Kingdom of God in the world. This participation should give birth to solidarity for others who are suffering, oppressed and exploited.

Abstract: This article specifically describes how a scientific theory is formed and placed as an epistemic truth, even in the end it becomes a paradigm that influences scientific methodologies in various different scientific fields. This is in line with the scientific revolution proposed by Thomas S. Kuhn. The discussion in this article will focus on the development of the theory of evolution proposed by Charles Darwin in the field of biology, viewed from the perspective of the scientific revolution of Thomas S. Kuhn. This effort was made because in its development, Darwin's theory of evolution has historically been the starting point for theoretical revolutions in the field of biology, and even in other scientific fields. This historical explanation of how the development process of Darwin's theory of evolution shifted, and even undermined previous scientific theories, became a starting point for a radical theoretical transformation in the development of science which was viewed from Kuhn's analysis through his theoretical schema of the revolution of a scientific theory. This becomes very important for researchers and the general public, especially to provide an explanation that the epistemic truth in science is not a sudden speculative knowledge, as is the ontological truth in religious knowledge and cultural knowledge. The methodical approach used in this article will use a historical continuity approach, heuristics, and interpretation. The type of analysis in this article falls into the analysis of scientific theory. This article was written with the aim of providing a description, evidence, and argument that the paradigm shift of science from the pre-Darwinian evolutionary period to the Darwinian evolutionary period is a description of a radical theoretical transformation process that occurs instantly in a scientific field, which in Kuhn's thinking is passed through The main phases are normal science, anomaly, crisis, and scientific revolution.Keywords: The Theory of Evolution, Scientific Revolution, Charles Darwin, Thomas S. Abstract: This paper intends to explore the idea of synodality proposed by Pope Francis as the main theme of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops in 2023. From the results of literature research, the author finds that the idea of synodality, in fact, is not new and does not even have a theological basis. The Holy Trinity and the Eucharist are the two theological foundations of the idea of synodality. So that the theme of synodality does not just stop at an idea and a dream, Pope Francis also provides explains the method and dangers during the synod process. The synod method, which can also be useful for the Church's pastoral method, is meeting, listening, and discernment. The danger in the synod process and the life of the Church is a formalism that is triggered by clericalism, intellectualism, and complacency. From the exploration of the two theological foundations and the discourse of Pope Francis regarding the idea of synodality, the primacy of God in the life of the Church, faith as the basis of true participation in the life of the Church, and mission as a consequence of faith, are three important things that need to be constantly considered so that the idea of synodality can be understood and applied appropriately.Keywords: Church, Synodality, Pope Francis.

So that the theme of synodality does not just stop at an idea and a dream, Pope Francis also provides explains the method and dangers during the synod process. The synod method, which can also be useful for the Church's pastoral method, is meeting, listening, and discernment. The danger in the synod process and the life of the Church is a formalism that is triggered by clericalism, intellectualism, and complacency. From the exploration of the two theological foundations and the discourse of Pope Francis regarding the idea of synodality, the primacy of God in the life of the Church, faith as the basis of true participation in the life of the Church, and mission as a consequence of faith, are three important things that need to be constantly considered so that the idea of synodality can be understood and applied appropriately.Keywords: Church, Synodality, Pope Francis.","PeriodicalId":338978,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Ledalero","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125739289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

ABSTRACT:This article talks about the problem of violence against women in the Maumere and Larantuka dioceses, Flores, NTT and how religion (Catholic Church) functions in dealing with it. The aim is to identify the forms of violence, their causes and effects in both dioceses and what the function of religion (Catholic Church) is to prevent and deal with these problems. Interview methods, focused group discussions (FGD) and document studies were used to collect data, while descriptive qualitative analysis was used for data analysis. The results show that violence against women is found in both areas of the diocese with physical, psychological, verbal, economic, cultural-based and online violence. The Catholic Church through the Diocesan Commission on Gender and Women's Empowerment carries out educational, control, fraternal, and transformative functions. This is done in direct collaboration and through networks with multi-stakeholders, although this is not sufficient. This study recommends the importance of strengthening institutional capacity and increasing network collaboration. KEYWORDS: Commission on Gender and Women's Empowerment, institutional capacity, network collaboration, violence against women, women empowerment.
