The paper analyses some challenges, that arise at processing of composite images. It classifies the factors influencing tone intensity of images received by optoelectronic surveillance systems. An approach for tone correction of heterogeneous images is substantiated. The paper proves that for investigation of changes in color properties of multi-tone images the hue-saturation-value (HSV) color model is more appropriate.

Passive radars are such radars that record and process signals of the objects own radiation within the radio wave band. They are used to solve a wide range of remote sensing problems. The observations registered by such radars are a mixture of stochastic signals of the investigated and interfering objects, as well as the internal noise of the receiver. Signals and noise are completely random, and their statistical characteristics are the same. Another feature of the transmitting radio thermal signals is that their emission spectrum is ultra-wideband (UWB) (except for polyatomic gases, which are characterized by discrete absorption and emission lines). Therefore, it is expedient to provide wide- or UWB for the passive radars operating frequencies band. Transition to UWB signal processing requires the improvement of the passive UWB radars theory. This theory should be able to synthesize new algorithms for signal processing and reveal the physical essence of parameter estimates at the output of the radar. This will allow solving the inverse problems of estimating the parameters and characteristics of the objects. Results of many years of research are summarized in this paper, a logical connection is formed between the key elements of the microwave radiation theory, the mathematical apparatus for processing UWB signals and the fundamentals of the optimal signal processing algorithms synthesis. Examples of the signal processing algorithm synthesis in a single- and a multichannel passive radar are also given.

Numerical calculations of torch discharge (TD) resistance (Rd) without accounting the inductance show that calculations accuracy decreases if a) the TD diameter decreases; b) the TD length increases; c) value of Rd is small (less 1 k Ω); d) “measured” frequencies approach f0,1. It results in a necessity to introduce an equivalent inductance into the Neiman’ scheme. It is shown that the resonant frequency fr of discharge circuit is proportional approximately to fmaxthat is the upper limit of the frequency range where the circuit theory remains suitable for the TD modeling. Thus, the definition of fr and fmaxallows to make the function a more precise. (The function a is the voltage ratio at those the TD holds its electrical and geometrical characteristics).

The scattering by graphene multi-layered strip grating is considered. To model the whole structure two different approaches are used and compared. The first one is based on the operator method. Here we obtain system of operator equations which are equivalent to the Fredholm integral equations. The solution of a so-called key problem, the diffraction problem by a single planar graphene grating, is obtained by the method of singular integral equations. The second approach is based entirely on the method of singular integral equations. Frequency dependences of the scattering and absorption coefficients are presented in the THz range.

Developed a numerical method for calculating propagation constants of localized modes of planar waveguides, as well as the solution of the stationary Schrödinger equation. The method is based on the Fourier transform of the wave equation. As a result, we obtain an integral equation in which the integral is replaced by summation. Ultimately, we obtain the problem of linear algebra with eigenvalues and eigenvectors. The method is verified on many examples. It is numerically stable and provides high accuracy of calculation (Abstract)

We demonstrate how to excite a resonant state resembling an axial toroidal dipole in metasurfaces made of particle clusters composed of three dielectric disks (trimers). The toroidal dipole response appears due to a symmetry breaking in the cluster geometry, via an energy release from an electromagnetic trapped (dark) mode. We consider several designs of metasurfaces where an asymmetry is introduced into the cluster by either employing disks of different radii or identical disks with holes. We discuss in detail the effect of different asymmetries in metasurface's geometry on characteristics of the axial toroidal dipole response.

Effective operation of a clinotron, as well as any other Cherenkov electron vacuum device, critically depends on electron beam formation quality and velocity spreads. Main results, related with an electron gun analysis and electron beam formation for a clinotron are presented in this paper. To study the longitudinal velocity spreads, the sheet electron beam has been investigated by means of 3D particle tracking simulations. Verification of obtained results was carried out by simulation in CST Particle Studio.

A mathematical model of the T-junction of two rectangular waveguides coupling through a narrow slot is developed by a method of induced magnetomotive forces (MMF). A membrane made of a material with metallic properties overlaps the slot aperture. The hollow waveguides are working in single mode regime. It was shown that a thin bismuth membrane can be used to control power division between the output arms of the waveguide junction.
