This paper analyzes the feasibility of providing mobile Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) DVB-T2 services in urban areas of Colombia with the infrastructure that is to be deployed for providing fixed TV services. Both multiple physical layer pipes and the mobile profile T2-Lite have been considered. The evaluations performed in the city of Bogota with the network of the public broadcaster RTVC reveal that it will be possible to provide mobile DVB-T2 services due to the fact that the DTT networks have been designed to provide portable indoor reception in urban areas. “Full paper in Spanish”.

This paper describes the overview of the basic system level simulator for calculation of LTE network capacity, its development, implementation, testing and two simulation scenarios, varying the cell size and number of user equipment by sector to evaluate the performance in capacity (SINR and throughput) in a specific LTE network.

This paper proposes an alternative tracking and data verification system for products. The proposed system tracks and verifies the commercial status of products in a secure environment, it verifies and records in an internal datacenter the production and transport process from the manufacturer or retailer to customer using the QR Code technology for messages and digital signature store. In this paper is also described the QR Code's technical features and the usage of a digital signature encrypting a hash function which maps an identification message of the device that is going to be tracked or verified.

Couplers have an important role for Power Line Communications (PLC). They allow plugging communication equipment to the power line to use it as a medium for communication and to filter out the low-frequency power signal. This is a challenging problem since PLC intends to use the power line as a broadband communication channel. Couplers should also meet other requirements since they are the link to the power network. In this paper, the design, simulation and implementation of a broadband coupling circuit with a T configuration is described. The circuit is a low cost implementation since it uses just a few components. The bandwidth proposed is the lower band of the IEEE 1901 Standard (1.8 - 30MHz) [1]. The design development is done considering the impedance of the power line. To get better accuracy in the behavior of the coupler, simulations are made to evaluate its performance in the frequency domain. The design is validated using an experimental setup and the measuring its S-parameters. In both cases several loads are used. Finally, this work describes the results and reviews the circuit performance.

This paper deals with the performance evaluation of systems whose service rates are dependent on external variables, such as the level of resource availability in computing systems, the intensity of background traffic or the failures affecting telecommunications networks. A well-established class of performance models for systems belonging to this class is represented by Markov-modulated queuing networks. Motivated by a review of the results available in the literature, we propose in this work a very simple and generalizable analytical approach to compute the expected service time when the number of servers is very large and can be modeled as being infinite. Our analytical approach is a new one. With it, we are able to re-obtain in this paper results that are already known in the performance modeling and evaluation community. Moreover, we show through examples how the straightforward mathematical treatment we define can be applied to classes of models for which no analytical results are yet available.
