The emergence of Covid-19 in 2020 has changed many aspects of life in the world. The Covid-19 pandemic has also affected the economy, education and other sectors such as the social and religious fields. Due to restrictions on attending worship activities, the idea emerged to utilize facilities that were believed to assist worship activities. One of facilities contained in existing technology to assist houses of worship is online. The influence of technology during the pandemic on the social and religious sectors is considered to have great benefits. As an example of the impact that occurred in the Church of St. Theresia of the Bongsari Parish. When mid-July 2020, after the government issued a New Normal policy, the Parish began to open mass activities by offline. The system used at that time included people registering through a collective list from the head of section where parishioners domicile nearby. However, the registration system is still considered ineffective, so the registration system is then developed using the Google Form facility. Although the offline mass registration system has undergone many developments, it still has many shortcomings. Therefore, the responsive web-based offline mass registration application is expected to be able to help the problems experienced by the church during the mass registration flow as well as the development of a dashboard as a means to be able to process data easily and efficiently for church administration officers. Application development is carried out using the ADDIE method, namely Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. In addition, the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method is also used to support the application development process. In this study, a survey with 60 respondents was carried out with the community, and from the test results it can be concluded that the usefulness of the offline mass registration application, as well as device support and the ease and pleasure of using this application have a correlation with the intention to use a website-based offline mass registration application.

Many travellers recognize food experiences as a must-do activity at travel destinations as much as the interest shown by them, Destination Management Organizations around the world have identified food as a part of special interest tourism and an experience that helps differentiate a destination’s offerings against competitors. The current study set out to explore whether travellers perceive food as a travel attraction that motivates them to travel to a destination and whether food can provide a memorable experience to such travellers and how well destination management organizations promote food tourism through digital media in a setting where many travellers search for information online. The study included a preliminary study in which the opinions of travellers were identified through a content analysis of experiences shared on online travel review sites and social media. Thestudy conducted a qualitative research approach where interviews were conducted to gain further insights into travellers’ food experiences. Further, the effectiveness of promoting food tourism through digital media by destination management organizations was analyzed through a content analysis of textual and visual content on websites. The findings of the study indicate that travellers consider food as a major motive to travel, as an experience booster, a novel and exciting experience, an experience beyond just eating, an aid to learning about locals’ lifestyle, an experience worth recreating and an experience that results in a change in lifestyle becoming a peak touristic experience. It was apparent that Local Destination Management Organizations do not effectively communicate these factors about food experiences through their digital platforms. This study is significant in a theoretical aspect as it presents seven characteristics of food experiences concerning the conceptual model of tourist experience and for applying this model to the digital context taking the destination management organization’s point of view. It is also significant in a practical aspect as it shows the potential of food to be a main attraction for Sri Lanka Tourism and portrays space for improvement in marketing such experiences, especially in digital media.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of financial risk on financial performance of the listed consumer services sector in Sri Lanka. It aims to uncover the effects of financial risk under operational risk, market risk, liquidity risk, and credit risk on return on equity which is the measurement of the financial performance for the period 2011–2020 from 32 listed consumer service companies listed under Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE).This study used a quantitative research approach, and secondary data were collected from the published audited annual report of listed consumer service companies over ten years (2011–2020). The algorithms contained in Stata version 14.2 was used to evaluate hypotheses using the fixed effect regression model under panel data analysis. The study's outcome accepted three hypotheses while rejecting one. It was concluded that operational risk and liquidity risk have a positive statistically significant impact, and credit risk has a negative statistically significant. Further, it was revealed that market risk has a statistically insignificant impact on financial performance. The following study will enable consumer service firms to understand the impact and examine the financial risk impact on financial performance due to its unique nature, which would help firms increase shareholders’ wealth maximization. The findings demonstrate statistical significance, which may aid policymakers and industry experts in intervening and developing policies and regulations.

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of Covid-19 on the profitability of the material sector firms in Sri Lanka using ROA and ROE as the profitability measures. The commendable performance of the material sector equity index during Covid-19 period motivates this study to investigate whether the profitability of the sector backs the observed performance in the equity index. For this purpose, this study performs both parametric and non-parametric comparison tests on quarterly data gathered using annual reports from 2018Q1 to 2021Q1. Further, this study employs panel regression models to identify whether the differential effect of Covid-19 on profitability is immune to other controlling effects. Additionally, this study investigates the reasons behind the profitability patterns by analyzing annual reports' content. The results of this study confirm that during the first quarter of the year 2021, the ROA and ROE are greater than the per Covid period ROA and ROE. The major external reason for the higher profitability is the relaxed government policies implemented during the Covid-19 period. Accordingly, the findings of this study imply that supportive government policies enhance the performance of firms during crisis periods.
