Innovations and Emerging Therapies in Atopic Dermatitis Part 1. 特应性皮炎的创新和新疗法1。

Purpose of review: The purpose of this review is to discuss the innovative aspects of present and newer therapies used for the treatment of AD, as well as to highlight the characteristics of emerging treatments. We also compare alternative systemic therapies. The novelties surrounding systemic therapies will be highlighted in this first review (part 1), while innovations in topical therapies will be discussed in a subsequent review (part 2).

Recent findings: The treatment landscape of atopic dermatitis has been quickly evolving in recent history. The treatment framework of AD is shifting from broad suppression of the inflammatory response to targeted molecular therapy.

Summary: Overall, this therapeutic shift does appear to correlate with a superior efficacy and safety profile, though we also highlight encountered shortcomings when assessing long-term and real-world data of systemic therapies. Despite significant recent advances, future studies are needed to optimize formulations and performance of systemic therapies for AD.

Purpose of review: The purpose of this review is to discuss the novel aspects of topical therapies used for the treatment of AD. We also discuss the lapses observed when comparing topical therapies. After the innovations regarding systemic therapies in AD were highlighted in a first review (part 1), this second component (part 2) will perceive the advances in topical therapies for AD.

Recent findings: Recent history has realized a prompt evolution in the options for topical therapy in AD. Novel, molecularly targeted topical therapies appear to address the drawbacks of traditional topical medicines.

Summary: The transformation towards targeted AD therapies is associated with increased efficacy and safety profiles, as well as patient compliance. We also evaluate available real-world and long-term data. Future studies should focus on optimizing topical therapies by increasing the duration of available long-term data.
