Space science is a fascinating and powerful field in which our country has now become an important part. From an educational point of view, several universities now offer some kind of specialised training in space science, and there are already master's degrees in space engineering. Under the UniSpace programme, 17 Hungarian universities are cooperating to offer advanced training in space science at four universities. However, at bachelor's level, a prospective engineer is unlikely to encounter a subject related to space science outside of basic physics, or it may only be offered in a few specialised programs. Future professionals should be introduced to this discipline as soon as possible. This is why universities should consider offering undergraduate-level space science courses, to better prepare students interested in pursuing careers in this field. The Széchenyi István University of Győr has already taken several steps to promote space technologies, including the SZESAT student group, where students can work on space telecommunications, the Mobilis summer children's camps, where SZESAT gives lectures on the topic every year, and the University of Győr is also a member of the UniSpace Hungary consortium. The study seeks to answer two questions: first, how interested students are in a similar subject that introduces them to space science and the basic space technology opportunities. The second is what majors are interested in the new subject, and which segments of the discipline might be the most interesting to them. In addition to the two main orientations, another important consideration is how students might integrate it into their studies and what prior learning would be required to start such a new subject.

Construction projects are faced with a range of challenges. These can be addressed significantly by combining Building Information Modeling (BIM) and strategic management (SM) right from planning to execution phases of construction projects. This study argues that these two problem-solving mechanisms can be leveraged in combination for the attainment of efficient planning and execution of construction projects. It draws evidence from secondary data, sourced from the internet and subjected to systematic review and thematic and content analyses. The descriptive analysis done proves BIM and SM to be indeed capable of ensuring efficient planning and execution of construction projects, when duly deployed and the constraints to their application tackled sufficiently. The study concludes that the combination of BIM and SM produces more results and guarantees efficient planning and execution of construction projects much more than when either of them is used alone. Organizations and institutions are charged to resort to combining these strategies as well as others in finding solutions to problems such as those confronting construction projects.

In a biomimetic approach, the functionality of biological nanopores in living cells has been copied in order to create polymeric nanochannels. In analogy to the antitype in nature, the nanochannels are able to respond to the presence of a certain biomolecule to be detected in a way that an electrolyte ion current in an electrochemical set-up is influenced. By measuring this trans-nanochannel ion current, the molecule to be analyzed can be quantitatively determined. As an example, the fabrication and functionality of such a nanochannel-sensor for the biomolecule histamine is demonstrated and explained.

The oil and gas industry in Africa is under mounting pressure to elevate operational efficiency and curb costs, even as supply chain challenges stemming from the pandemic persist. Additive manufacturing (AM) emerges as a unique solution with the potential to free segments of the industry from conventional supply chains. This study introduces a framework tailored to the distinctive challenges and opportunities of the African oil and gas sector, aiming to facilitate the effective adoption of metal AM. Considering constraints such as supply chain limitations, unstable electricity supply, remote locations, and limited manufacturing facilities, this framework intends to guide stakeholders in leveraging the transformative potential of AM technology while overcoming potential barriers. Leveraging a literature review, expert insights, and real-world scenarios, the study assesses the current state of metal AM in the oil and gas sector. The framework's applicability is demonstrated through a case study of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, while acknowledging the specific African context. It uncovers the existing state of metal AM in Africa and identifies various facilities along with their constraints. Encompassing domains such as prototyping, customized tooling, complex component fabrication, and spare part production, the framework addresses challenges like cultural shifts, quality control, and facility sustainability. It offers key stages encompassing technology assessment, workforce training, and strategic planning to drive the transition toward additive manufacturing. The adoption of metal AM in Africa's oil and gas sector holds the potential to significantly enhance operational efficiency and competitiveness, yet it necessitates overcoming multifaceted challenges. The proposed framework presents a strategic roadmap for harnessing this technology's transformative potential. By embracing innovation and surmounting region-specific obstacles, Africa's oil and gas industry can attain enhanced efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and adaptability

The Brazilian Road network is constantly used by the population and its maintenance is an essential charge to ensure the performance of the pavement. Therefore, the verification of asphalt conditions is extremely relevant to analyze their structural and functional qualities. It is noteworthy that this verification is usually performed by technicians manually being the results slow and often with impalpable and partial analysis. Given this, we see the need to study the benefits of obtaining this information indirectly without the need for inloco man. In this work we will focus on the use of Remotely Piloted Aircraft System to obtain the images that will enable the analysis of asphalt conditions. The place where the study will take place is the corridor of BRT Transoeste in Rio de Janeiro, which connects the region of Barra da Tijuca to Santa Cruz and Campo Grande, passing through Guaratiba and Recreio dos Bandeirantes. The following procedures will be adopted: Flight Planning with RPAS observing GSD Ground Sample Distance advocated by the scientific literature, field support using GNSS NTRIP technology, processing of images obtained with the use of Agisoft software and generating Orthorectified Orthophoto. Finally, the main objective of the work is to verify the potential of the metric quality of the images from RPAS in identifying damage to the asphalt surface

Food allergy, specifically gluten intolerance, is a significant global health issue affecting approximately 7% of the population, with the only effective treatment being lifelong adherence to a gluten-free diet. Despite the need, no rapid, low-cost, non-invasive testing device is available for patients with this disease. This research, conducted within the TECAM project funded by the Basque Government and in collaboration with Leartiker and CEIT, aims to design and implement a technological solution for celiac individuals to query gluten contamination of food samples in real time using a low- cost device based on a near infrared (NIR) sensor (DLP NIRscan Nano), with a focus on the mechanical design and validation of the sensor’s integration for optimal NIR spectroscopy. Evaluations of environmental impacts on sample acquisition highlighted the significance of various disturbances like sensor height, light exposure, device temperature, and sample preparation, with tests using the SparkFun AS7263 sensor showing the importance of minimizing sensor height and external turbulence. This necessitated a closed, opaque enclosure, designed with CAD tools and 3D printed, with its efficacy validated using the "Software Usability Scale" (SUS) and "USE Questionnaire". Twenty prototypes were created during this iterative process, and the final design successfully integrates the DLP NIR scan Nano sensor, aligning with the design 4 all philosophy and ensuring optimal sensor functionality. Conclusively, this study offers a low-cost, portable design for a NIR sensor integration to detect gluten, emphasizing the need to minimize environmental disturbances and incorporating user feedback to produce a practical tool for celiacs to non-invasively assess gluten contamination quickly

In this paper we examine ways to potentially improve the overall efficiency of a turbofan engine with afterburners. A design similar to a turbofan engine used mostly in today’s general commercial aviation aircraft was considered and a study was performed on its components individually using GasTurb and MATLAB software packages. The study revealed that the pressure and the temperature are the two main parameters which affect the overall efficiency of the turbofan engine with afterburners. In addition, the study showed the validation of the analytical results numerically using MATLAB and then visually using GasTurb. Finally, GasTurb was also used to perform the analysis of the 3-D plots that allowed for a complete understanding of how the efficiency of the turbofan engine was affected. As a result, different performance values were found, and showed that a turbofan engine with an afterburner can be made more efficient by increasing the pressure and the temperature in the combustion chambers.

The basic reproductive number (R0 ) is a threshold parameter for a population-level model of infectious disease control. The basic reproduction number is derived by epidemiologists using different techniques. It is used to estimate the basic reproductive rates of infected and susceptible hosts and to guide intervention strategies. In this paper, we give an overview of the methods used in the derivation of R0 and assess the use of R0 in the literature. Finally, we discuss some of the limitations and alternatives to the basic reproduction number that have been identified in the literature. The main contribution of this paper is to provide a guideline and shed light on the basic reproduction number to mathematical modellers and policy makers in order to prevent the possible blown out of the epidemic in the susceptible population.

The basic reproduction number is derived by epidemiologists using different techniques. It is used to estimate the basic reproductive rates of infected and susceptible hosts and to guide intervention strategies. In this paper, we give an overview of the methods used in the derivation of R0 and assess the use of R0 in the literature. Finally, we discuss some of the limitations and alternatives to the basic reproduction number that have been identified in the literature. The main contribution of this paper is to provide a guideline and shed light on the basic reproduction number to mathematical modellers and policy makers in order to prevent the possible blown out of the epidemic in the susceptible population.","PeriodicalId":380686,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences Technology","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126292531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently we are more conscious with covid-19 virus and other pathogens too. In order to prevent us from these micro-organisms we are using face mask, hand gloves etc which are coated with nano materials. Nano particles having antibacterial effect coated on materials will help to protect against pathogens. In the current research gold nano particles have the capability to fight against micro-organisms which is synthesized by very simple method called green synthesis. Nano particles obtained by green method is user-friendly as it is less toxic and some are non-toxic. The resultant nano particle is of purple in colour with average crystalline size of 51nm which was found by XRD and the sharp peak says that it is FCC crystalline structure. The SEM, FTIR, FT-RAMAN, UV, PL analysis were done and the material showed high anti-Bacterial and Antifungal Activity.
