This work, grounded in the perspective of new political history, analyzes and systematizes the most relevant contributions from the social sciences to the knowledge of Santa Fe (Argentina) province’s recent history. We particularly focus on works that deal with the period that goes from the democratic transition to the present day (1983-2020), highlighting the most important lines of work, their contributions to the field and the observed vacancies. The article is organized around three central issues: the study of the province’s electoral and political systems; works dealing with the characteristics and interplay dynamics between political-partisan actors; and contributions regarding other social actors as they relate to the local political system. The purpose of our work is to present a complete and thorough outlook of the current knowledge available regarding Santa Fe’s recent political history.

This article analyzes the public health policy of Peronist governors (19461955) in Buenos Aires Province. I consider both the government and the opposition treatment to the Ministry of Public Health creation and the construction plans that formed the public health policy. In the second part I focus on the practices related to public management, and the trajectories of ministry officials. Financial and personal resources assigned and the effective expansion of the health services are analyzed. The results suggest that provincial health policy had a significant development but short-term and long-term constraints limited the changes. In addition, legal provisions such as practices referring to traditional health institutions show that the provincial State was conceived as a coordinating entity of the health system rather than a unifying one. This paper analyzes the conceptions about national socialism and Peronism that different referents of the Peronist left presented in a round table cycle held in September 1972. An approach close to the theoretical-methodological proposal elaborated by Reinhart Koselleck for the study of political concepts is tested to allow to recover the contingent and changing dimension of the political ideas that predominated in the debates of the Peronist left at the beginning of the 1970s, and that makes it possible to inquire about the connections between Peronism and socialism that occurred during the period.

Through the judicial adventures of Sergeant Major Gabriel Guillermo Espínola, a member of a paradigmatic family in the area, this article delves into social relationships and local political history in two dimensions. Accused of stealing livestock through his protégés and abusing his authority as a judge, the process against Espínola illuminates, on one hand, the kinship, obedience and dependency plots, as well as the conflicts of jurisdiction at the time of creation of the Tucumán “Intendencias” and expansion of the bailiffs in the countryside. On the other hand, it addresses Espínola's role as “Comandante de fronteras” near Concepción de Abipones and his close relationship with guaycurú Tribes in the Chaco region.
