was a positive correlation between the increase in the infant’s need for respiratory support and all the sub-units of the mother’s stress scale and the father’s stress scale ‘baby’s appearance and behavior’ sub-unit, and a positive correlation was found between vaginal delivery and maternal stress scale ‘images and sounds’ and ‘parental role in relation to the baby’ sub-unit. In the correlation analyzes performed with the baby’s apgar scores, it was determined that the apgar score showed a negative correlation between the maternal stress scale’s ‘images and sounds’ and ‘baby’s appearance and behavior’ subunits.

Neonatal clitoromegaly can result from overproduction of androgens by the fetus, the mother, or the placenta. Premature infants can also appear to have clitoromegaly due to variations in external genitalia. The patient reported is an extremely preterm infant who was assigned female sex at birth with a normal physical exam other than premature features. At 35 weeks corrected gestational age (CGA), the patient developed significant clitoromegaly with elevated gonadotropins, androstenedione, and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S). Further workup yielded the diagnosis of Premature Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (POHS). Hormone levels declined over time and her clitoromegaly resolved without intervention. This case of POHS is the first to document elevated DHEA-S as part of the diagnosis. Elevated DHEA-S has not been previously reported in POHS and it is likely that it contributed to the clitoromegaly. Recognizing POHS is important as the associated clitoromegaly typically resolves.

Functional constipation (FC) in children often requires medical treatment, including pharmacotherapy. Conventional laxatives such as magnesium oxide, sodium picosulfate, lactulose, and carmellose sodium have been used for many years. However, these drugs are often ineffective for patients with intractable FC, requiring continual transanal treatments such as glycerin enemas or bisacodyl suppositories.

The circumstances and lifestyle of modern society, along with individual personality characteristics, often cause anxiety and temporary or permanent mental disorders (MDs). In some individuals, these circumstances alone can undermine their mental serenity and ability to make decisions about daily life activities. Common MDs include stress, anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, irritability and forgetfulness, in addition to somatic complaints such as headache and poor digestion [1]. ABSTRACT

We describe a 9-year-old girl who had pain in the left inguinal region of 5 days of evolution. Not a traumatic history. Afebrile. Scan it emphasized limitation to the expansion and external rotation of the hip without inflammatory signs. The complete blood count, biochemistry, blood and acute phase reactants were normal. Pelvis AP x-ray (Figure 1) showed widening radiolucent in left SIP associated with irregular margins.

We describe a male pediatric patient showing dystonic head posture and occasional dystonic movements on the upper limbs since his 24 month of age. Those movements are associated with “burning sensation in the throat”, vomiting without nausea and dental erosion. He was treated with antiepileptics, neuroleptics, dopaminergics and proton pump inhibitors, without any evident results. Six years later a proper diagnosis was made and the proper treatment was indicated. In that period of time the patient was recurrently admitted on the hospital and submitted to many lab and other diagnostics tests. The disorder in question is very uncommon and as this particular case was formerly misdiagnosed and hence mistreated, it might be on the interest to the scientific community, health care professionals and medical science students.

Acute hemorrhagic edema of infant is an infrequent leukocytoclastic vasculitis clinically characterized by macules, papules or urticarial lesions which progress to purpuric plaques. It is a vasculitis of small vessels mediated by immunocomplexes, and usually associated with bacterial or viral infections. The diagnosis of this entity is essentially clinical, and it is important to take it into account to avoid the systematic use of complementary tests. Its course is usually self-limiting and benign, without requiring specific treatment.
