An economic view on mobile and fixed broadband networks in Germany 德国移动和固定宽带网络的经济观点

Broadband markets are subjected to competition of different fixed (copper, coax, fiber) and mobile technologies (4G/LTE, 5G). In the case of internet-access, fixed broadband connections reach currently higher connections speeds than mobile connections. Due to new technologies as LTE Advanced and 5G, mobile accesses get a bandwidth boost and reach a stronger position in terms of broadband speed. This paper discusses mobile radio technologies' influence on broadband markets in the world and especially in Germany. We will answer the question: Will mobile infrastructures dominate broadband markets in terms of market share, access speed, distribution and number of subscribers? First we will give an overview of the current mobile and fixed broadband developments in the world and particularly in Germany, focusing on the number of subscribers, data traffic and revenues. In the second part of the paper, we discuss the field of competition and in which fields mobile and fixed infrastructures are in a direct competition. Furthermore, we will present the effect of the different technical characteristics of the mobile and fixed technologies and their impact on the broadband markets. Finally, we try to figure out how broadband technologies will develop in the short and long run.

New algorithm for blind recognition of OFDM based systems using second-order statistics 基于二阶统计量的OFDM系统盲识别新算法

This communication addresses the problem of the recognition systems based on OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing). Such a problem arises in various fields of applications among cognitive radio and military applications. We present a new blind discrimination algorithm between the standards: the 3GPP/LTE (3rd Generation Partnership Project/Long Term Evolution, the WiMax IEEE 802.16 (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access), the DVBT-2K (Digital Video Broadcast Terrestrial) and the IEEE 802.22-1K (the first worldwide wireless standard based on cognitive radios). This algorithm is based only on second order statistics. It consists to estimate the chip duration necessary for the recognition system based on OFDM. Computer simulations show that the proposed chip duration parameter estimation algorithm for OFDM can obtain good performances in low SNR and multi-path channel conditions.

A new optimal hybrid spectrum access in cognitive radio: Overlay-underlay mode 认知无线电中一种新的最优混合频谱接入:叠加-底层模式

In this paper, we propose a hybrid cognitive radio (CR) system where underlay and overlay CR approaches are combined under SIRN constraints. This new access type allows to optimize the spectrum sensing time with throughput improvement. Our proposed access type is based on a merger of these two modes depending on the number of secondary users (SU) in the Underlay Mode and on the access probabilities for these two modes. The number of all users in the Underlay access mode should not exceed a certain number of users. When a new SU arrives and if the number of SUs in Underlay mode is already equal to the predifined max number, the SU decides to switch to the Overlay mode to access the canal using this method. The SU states will be modeled with a Markov chain, the aim of this work is attempting to show that this new method allows to increase the throughput of the SU with energy optimization. The exact outage probability of secondary system is also derived for this model. Simulation results show that the performance, especiallay the throughput can be significantly increased by the proposed hybrid system.

Topology control through depth adjustment and transmission power control for UWSN routing protocols UWSN路由协议的深度调节拓扑控制和传输功率控制

Recently Underwater Sensor Networks (UWSNs) have been suggested as a powerful technology for many civilian and military applications, such as tactical surveillance. The most important issue in these networks is the communication, mainly due to the presence of fading, multi-path and refractive properties of the sound channel, this necessitate the development of precise underwater channel model for each application and provide an efficient routing protocol that consider the energy constraint of underwater nodes and resolve the problem of disconnected nodes. In this work, we study the impact of two topology control methods, that are used to resolve the problem of void/isolated nodes appeared in geographic routing protocols, in network performance. Simulation results of topology control through Depth adjustment DA and Transmission Power Controls TPC showed a significant reduction of the number of void/isolated nodes.

Matched filter detection with dynamic threshold for cognitive radio networks 基于动态阈值的认知无线网络匹配滤波器检测

In cognitive radio networks, spectrum sensing aims to detect the unused spectrum channels in order to use the radio spectrum more efficiently. Various methods have been proposed in the past, such as energy, feature detection, and matched filter. These methods are characterized by a sensing threshold, which plays an important role in the sensing performance. Most of the existing techniques used a static threshold. However, the noise is random, and, thus the threshold should be dynamic. In this paper, we suggest an approach with an estimated and dynamic sensing threshold to increase the efficiency of the sensing detection. The matched filter method with dynamic threshold is simulated and its results are compared to those of other existing techniques.

An efficient pricing mechanism of random access in wireless network with self-interested mobile users 具有自利移动用户的无线网络随机接入的有效定价机制

In the decentralized networks, an important requirement arises in the design of Medium Access Control protocols is the robustness to self-interested behavior of the users. Indeed it's well known that the Medium Access Control protocols are designed based on the assumption that all mobile users act selfishly and follow a personal objective, such behavior may decrease the performance of the majority of users, hence causing fairness issue and decreasing the global energy consumption significantly. In this paper we propose a reward mechanism in a non-cooperative game framework. We assume that the base station promises the user a reward which can be a number of amounts of credit that the users use to transmit their own packets. The reward is given only to a user that transmits its packet successfully. First, we analyze the implementation of our mechanism on the equilibrium and show that as the arrival rate increases, the behavior of users become more and more aggressive resulting in a global deterioration of the expected reward the base station pays. Second and in order to achieve an efficient outcome despite the selfish behavior of users, we propose an incentive mechanism when each failure transmission of a packet incurs a certain number of costs. The cost could in fact be expressed in terms of the energy consumption when attempting to access the wireless channel. Under the proposed scheme aggressive behavior is discouraged since each retransmission translates into the depletion of the energy stored in the battery. Via the price of anarchy we show that the global performance of the system is improved considerably compared to the original game in particular at high loads.

A new design of a compact CPW-Fed dual-band printed antenna for RFID applications 一种用于RFID应用的紧凑型CPW-Fed双频印刷天线的新设计

This paper presents a novel dual-band monopole antenna fed by a Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) line suitable for Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) applications especially designed for RFID readers and it operates at 2.45 GHz and 5.8 GHz. This antenna is designed with a reasonable gain, low profile and low cost achievement. The proposed antenna benefits from the advantages of the CPW line to simplify the structure of the antenna into a single metallic level, by consequent making it easier for integration with microwave integrated circuits. The simulation results carried out by ADS from Agilent technologies and CST Microwave Studio electromagnetic solvers, demonstrate that we have good performances in term of return loss, gain, radiation pattern and efficiency for the desired frequency bands. This antenna has a total area of 38×30.6mm2 and mounted on an FR4 substrate with dielectric permittivity constant 4.4, thickness of 1.6mm and loss tangent of 0.025. The gain obtained into simulation of this antenna is 1,9 dB at 2.45GHz and 4.7 dB at 5.8 GHz.

Latrach","doi":"10.1109/WINCOM.2015.7381327","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/WINCOM.2015.7381327","url":null,"abstract":"This paper presents a novel dual-band monopole antenna fed by a Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) line suitable for Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) applications especially designed for RFID readers and it operates at 2.45 GHz and 5.8 GHz. This antenna is designed with a reasonable gain, low profile and low cost achievement. The proposed antenna benefits from the advantages of the CPW line to simplify the structure of the antenna into a single metallic level, by consequent making it easier for integration with microwave integrated circuits. The simulation results carried out by ADS from Agilent technologies and CST Microwave Studio electromagnetic solvers, demonstrate that we have good performances in term of return loss, gain, radiation pattern and efficiency for the desired frequency bands. This antenna has a total area of 38×30.6mm2 and mounted on an FR4 substrate with dielectric permittivity constant 4.4, thickness of 1.6mm and loss tangent of 0.025. A survey on packet scheduling over DVB-S2 through GSE encapsulation 基于GSE封装的DVB-S2分组调度研究

A key features of the second generation for video broadcasting (DVB-S2) is the adoption of Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM) technology and Generic Stream Encapsulation (GSE) standards. In order to increase the system performance up to the Shannon limit a suitable resource management (RRM) exploiting this key features is a needed. Packet scheduling mechanisms particularly play a fundamental role to guarantee a better RRM, because they are responsible for choosing, with a fine time how to distribute the satellite resources among different terrestrial stations, taking into account channel condition and the quality-of-service requirements. This goal should be accomplish by providing, at the same time, an optimal trade-off between spectral efficiency, given the limited resources on satellite systems, while granting the requirements for quality-of-service. In this context, this paper provides an overview on the key issues that arise with the use of ACM technology and GSE encapsulation in the design of a scheduler to allocate satellite resources. Moreover, a survey on the most recent scheduling techniques is reported, including a comparison between different approaches presented in literature.

Analysis of dipole antennas using moment methods and haar wavelet 用矩量法和haar小波分析偶极子天线

In this paper, it is attempted to approach a fast efficient algorithm for solving the famous Hallen's and Pocklington's integral equations, regarding the current distribution on a finite-length linear thin wire antenna. Here, the conventional moment method in conjunction with wavelet basis functions was used to obtain the current distribution of the antenna. The aim of this work is first to introduce the application of wavelet in electromagnetic scattering, secondly a comparison of the two method of analysis the thin wire antenna. By using the wavelet expansion, wavelets as basis and testing functions, a sparse matrix is generated from the previous moment method dense matrix. A sparsely filled matrix is easier to store and invert. The result extracted from Pocklington's integral equation gives better convergence at the feeding point, though it takes more time to be computed because of the complexity in Pocklington's equation. Results are compared to the previous work done and published, excellent results are obtained.

The effect of cooperation of nodes on VDTN routing protocols 节点合作对VDTN路由协议的影响

Vehicular Delay-Tolerant Networks (VDTNs) are composed of mobile nodes (vehicles) that communicate with each other wirelessly and using store carry and forward paradigm to forward data despite intermittent connectivity. A serious threat against routing process in such context is the non-cooperation of nodes. Some of them misbehave because they are malicious, selfish or malfunctioning. Such routing misbehavior reduces the packet delivery ratio and wastes system resources. In this paper, we study the communication between ten sensors (stationary source nodes), arbitrary placed at the map and ten stationary destination nodes. The effects of node cooperation are explored for four well-known routing algorithms proposed for VDTNs. The results show that the sensitivity of the routings algorithms to the cooperation degree can be very high.
