Our purpose is to introduce the concepts of weakly *-open functions and weakly *-continuous functions. Moreover, some characterizations of weakly *-continuous functions and theta(*)-continuous functions are investigated. In particular, the relationships between weakly *-continuous functions and theta(*)-continuous functions are established.

The definitions of several types of generalized contractions for an application T from a complete metric space (X,d) in itself are recalled and reviewed. A common property [H] to all these concepts is put in light. We observe that assumption [H] is fulfilled in many cases and we prove that assumption [H] and lower semi-continuity of the function x maps to d(x,T(x)) ensure existence of a fixed point along with a sharp estimate for the distance to the fixed-points set.

We introduce and study (Lambda, b)-continuous, (Lambda, b)-irresolute and quasi-(Lambda, b)-irresolute mappings. Some characterizations and several properties concerning aforesaid mappings are obtained. The authors also introduce (Lambda, b)-compactness and (Lambda, b)-connectedness. It is proved that (Lambda, b)-compactness (respectively (Lambda, b)-connectedness) is preserved under (Lambda, b)-irresolute mappings. The paper also touches the topics frontier points, Dirichlet's function, filter and algebraic structure of some functions.

A group G is called a non-inner nilpotent group, whenever it is nilpotent with respect to a non-inner automorphism. In 2018, all finitely generated abelian non-inner nilpotent groups have been classified. Actually, the authors proved that a finitely generated abelian group G is a non-inner nilpotent group, if G is not isomorphic to cyclic groups Z_p_1p_2...p_t and Z, for a positive integer t and distinct primes p_1, p_2,..., p_t. We conjecture that all finite non-abelian p-groups are non-inner nilpotent and we prove this conjecture for finite $p$-groups of nilpotency class 2 or of co-class 2.
