Alarm fatigue is becoming a more significant global public health issue that compromises patient safety. Alarm fatigue is especially common among critical care nurses, who are the frontline healthcare providers that provide patients with the most direct care and round-the-clock patient monitoring. An excessive number of alerts, together with erroneous and ineffective alerts, can cause alarm fatigue and negatively impact the psychological well-being of nurses and patients during their recovery process. To find a way to lower the number of false alarms and assess the effectiveness of the measures put in place, a quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional approach was employed. In the adult ICU at NGHA Dammam, this pilot project was carried out from June 2019 to November 2020. In order to identify true alarms and false alarms, the Central Monitor Nurse Daily Checklist was utilized as a data collection tool in conjunction with education training and departmental policies and procedures. There are about 820 alerts per patient each day, including 104 telemetry and 716 bedside alarms. Three months into the project, the project's top alarm measurement was 1503 alarms per patient per day. The project has shown a constant trend in alarm declinations after this peak, largely as a result of project improvement activities. The lowest recorded alarm count in November 2020 was 226 alerts, a 72% decrease from the initial 820 alarms. Nonetheless, the declining trend over the previous three months showed a 22%, 42%, and 48% drop in the overall number of alarms. This study found that alarm fatigue, which is influenced by a number of variables, including safety culture practices, was more common among critical care nurses working in the Intensive Care Unit at NGHA Dammam. Overall, during the first two months of its deployment, this study effectively met its aim and had a considerable impact on the reduction of "false alarms". The results of this study, taken together with improved psychological health for nurses and the provision of a therapeutic environment for patients, offer crucial direction for future intervention programs aimed at reducing alarm fatigue among critical care nurses. Future studies should concentrate on the traits of adherence and management, as well as the obstacles that prevent ICU staff from continuing to implement interventions and false alarm reduction strategies.

The socio-economic disparities and limited development opportunities prevalent in the East Coast region of Malaysia have spurred the emergence of startup social enterprises striving to rejuvenate the economy. These social enterprises prioritize a balanced approach to socio-economic success, but face challenges in securing sustainable funding from various sources. While previous studies have explored the association between social entrepreneurs and their mission to address social problems, there has been limited focus on developing a sustainable funding model specifically tailored for social enterprise startups targeting the Bottom 40 (USP B40) population, particularly in the East Coast region of Malaysia. This paper aims to examine the development of sustainable funding initiatives that can support the social mission of USP B40 in Malaysia. The study integrates relevant theories and models to propose a conceptual model, and employs the Delphi method with three modification techniques to construct a questionnaire. The responses from a panel of experts are analyzed using quartile deviation (QD) and inter-quartile range (IQR) to establish consensus levels. Statistical analysis using the Statistical Software Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 26 demonstrates that the instrument meets the criteria for validity and reliability. This paper contributes by providing a set of objective and practical items to measure the effectiveness of sustainable funding model initiatives for USP B40.

Since its onset in early 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly affected Malaysia. The Malaysian population became acutely aware of the virus, leading to the implementation of a nationwide lockdown known as the Movement Control Order (MCO) from March to May 2020, aimed at mitigating the virus's spread. However, despite these efforts, as of February 2023, Malaysia continues to grapple with COVID-19, with reported cases ranking as the third highest in Southeast Asia. This paper delves into the multifaceted implications of the pandemic on Malaysia's financial and social stability. Specifically, it explores the impact of the crisis on interethnic relationships, examining instances of racism and prejudice that have emerged during this challenging period. Through an analysis of various news reports, this study aims to shed light on the dynamics that have affected the relationships among different ethnic groups within the Malaysian society. By uncovering and examining these instances of racism and prejudice, this research not only provides insights into the social repercussions of the pandemic in Malaysia but also contributes to the broader international scholarship on the social consequences of global crises. The findings of this study can inform policymakers, researchers, and practitioners worldwide in understanding the complexities of interethnic dynamics during times of crisis and in developing strategies to foster inclusivity, harmony, and social resilience within diverse societies. Ultimately, this research underscores the significance of cross-cultural understanding and cooperation in building a more inclusive and resilient global community in the face of future challenges.

Crime is a phenomenon that exists in all societies. At all times and places, crimes have been committed and spread in societies regardless of the level of culture, economic, scientific, and social progress for society members, and regardless of the perpetrators of crimes and their education, culture, wealth, and poverty. The media plays a large role as one of the influences of criminal behaviour. By following the inductive and analytical approaches, this research aims to illustrate the impact of the print, audio, visual and electronic media on the criminal phenomenon. This research concluded that the media has an influential role in the increase of the crime rate, even if it is indirectly, where broadcasting a crime on social media has contributed to the increase in its commission by others in the same country or in other countries. Therefore, the researcher recommends the necessity of imposing censorship on what is published through the media, especially electronic media, and that the family must carry its responsibility in following up and monitoring its members to evaluate their behaviour and prevent them from engaging in criminal behaviour. Finally, the researcher recommends conducting future research on the relationship between the media and the criminal phenomenon, especially the role of social media in influencing criminal behaviour.
