It is proposed that the application of fracture mechanics to the study of wear processes is both feasible and fruitful. Its use is demonstrated in explaining the complicated wear behaviour in the Ti-6Al-4V system.

Investigations into design methods for externally pressurized gas journal bearings 外压气体轴颈轴承设计方法研究

The results of a pilot study to determine the value and accuracy of published design methods in the prediction of the load carrying capacity of externally pressurized gas journal bearings are given. This objective has been accomplished by comparing all existing experimental data with the design methods predictions.

The frictional torque in externally pressurized bearings 外压轴承的摩擦力矩

The total frictional torque in an externally pressurized bearing consists of two parts, one being that predicted from the Petroff formula and the other being associated with the change in the angular momentum of the lubricant. The analysis is fully confirmed by experiments with an air-lubricated journal bearing. It is shown that if all other parameters are specified, then the minimum total frictional torque is obtained when the clearance is chosen such that 25% of the total torque is required for changing the angular momentum of the lubricant.

The measurement and analysis of surfaces 表面的测量和分析

In recent years there has been a growing awareness of the importance of surface metrology. Two pressures have been dominant. First there is the need to better control the manufacturing process and second there has been the need to better understand the role which the geometry of a part plays during its working life. These pressures have lead to a minor revolution in the way in which surfaces are measured and assessed. In common with the article by Archard this paper will be restricted to aspects of the development of the most used technique, namely the stylus method. It will concentrate on modern developments.

Parameter influence on tool wear in ultrasonic drilling 超声钻孔中参数对刀具磨损的影响

During ultrasonic machining the continuous use of the same abrasive particles results in the decrease of their grain size and in a lower machining rate. Wear of the tool also takes place. Tool wear is controlled by such factors as type of abrasive, grit size, tool material, static load, cutting time and cross sectional area of the tool used. Their influence on tool wear is discussed.
