Oxide Stability Analysis and Characterization in a Galvannealed Dual-Phase Steel Exhibiting Coating Defects 电镀双相钢涂层缺陷的氧化物稳定性分析与表征

The defects can be present after pickling and fluxing, causing wettability issues during the process. Coating defects may also form or be further exacerbated by the galvannealing operation. For this work, oxidation mechanism predictions were performed using Wagner’s theory of oxidation. In the present study a 0.07C-1.9Mn-0.2Si-0.3Cr galvannealed dual-phase steel which exhibited streaking defects in the coating was analyzed. Light optical metallography (LOM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were performed to characterize defects within the galvannealed coating. Static spectra reactions 13 . Since Si solubility is extremely low in zeta phase, nucleation of zeta, as well as growth, would be influenced by the Si content in the steel. In the investigated steel, Si levels are low and Mn levels are high, resulting in a Mn rich defect, with some Si content. The Mn rich, Si containing oxides present on the surface could also influence zeta phase nucleation during galvanizing and subsequent intermetallic galvannealing reactions.

Pre-Finishing Mill Modernization on the Sterling Steel Rod Mill 斯特林钢棒轧机精轧机前的现代化

The most recent modernization phase of the wire rod mill at Sterling Steel involved installation of a pre-finishing mill, using a Morgan Vee Mini-Block, a new water box and shear with utility systems and automation. The new mill configuration adds more stands to the mill for better drafting and is designed to improve finished product quality by providing a more uniform entry temperature, better control of the feed section into the No-Twist® mill as well as enhanced surface quality. The new shear improves cut length accuracy as well as decreases the amount of trimming to reduce yield loss. This paper explains the changes made in the mill and the features of the new equipment and automation.

Hot Band Profile Irregularities Related to the Thermal Contour of Work Rolls 与工作辊热轮廓相关的热带异型

Through simulations of the thermal conditions of work rolls in hot strip mill finishing stands, it was shown that the roll cooling pattern and the deviation from the mill centerline caused hot band profile irregularities. This paper reviews the experimental data that proves these findings.
