On Combining Adaptive Modulation and Unbiased MMSE-DFE Receiver to Increase the Capacity of Frequency Selective Channels 结合自适应调制与无偏MMSE-DFE接收机提高选频信道容量的研究

In this paper, an adaptive quadrature amplitude modulation (AQAM) scheme for an equalized system over a selective channel is investigated. To reduce intersymbol interference (ISI), a minimum-mean-squared-error decision feedback equalizer (MMSE-DFE) is used. In order to select the appropriate modulation mode, the receiver estimates the MSE at the equalizer output. This estimated MSE is then sent back to the transmitter which adjusts the modulation level. Simulation results illustrate that the MSE is accurately estimated and represents a viable switching metric. It is also shown that switching between different modulation modes does not affect the equalizer coefficients adaptation. Linear region of practical transmitter amplifiers is limited. Thus when switching from one modulation scheme to an another, it is important to control the peak power.

Modelling an Isolated Compound TCP Connection 模拟一个孤立的复合TCP连接

Compound TCP (CTCP) was designed by Tan at al. to improve the efficiency of TCP on high speed networks without unfairly penalizing other connections. In this work we analyze an isolated CTCP connection, identifying and classifying significantly different CTCP operating regimes depending on the system parameters. We show that in the “constant window” phase the congestion window can in fact have significant oscillations with non-negligible effect on the performances. These oscillations can also induce additional jitter in the cross traffic. We calculate the average throughput and average backlog size at the bottleneck link. These performance metrics depend on the CTCP operating regime. Under certain circumstances, an isolated CTCP connection on a high speed link utilizes around 75% of the link capacity.

A Framework for Cross-Layer Measurements in Wireless Networks 无线网络跨层测量框架

This paper formulates a framework for wireless network performance measurements with the scope of being as generic as possible. The methodology utilises a cross-layer approach in order to address the limitations of traditional layered techniques. A lot of work in the research community uses the channel power (Cp) to predict performance metrics in higher layers. There are currently two methods to measure Cp; either by using a spectrum analyser or from WiFi card information (RSSI). The paper discusses the correct configuration of a spectrum analyser (SA), to measure Cp. This paper, also provides a comparison of both SA and RSSI results produced inside an anechoic chamber for three different applications. The behaviour of the RSSI values showed significant discrepancy with both the SA results and what was intuitively expected. The results pinpoint the necessity of a cross-layer approach and the importance of carefully selected and positioned equipment for the accuracy of the measurements.

Applications of Short-Range Wireless Technologies to Industrial Automation: A ZigBee Approach 短距离无线技术在工业自动化中的应用:ZigBee方法

Bluetooth, ultra-wideband (UWB), ZigBee, and Wi-Fi are four popular wireless standards for short-range communications. Specifically, ZigBee network is an emerging technology designed for low cost, low power consumption and low-rate wireless personal area networks (LR-WPAN) with a focus on the device-level communication for enabling the wireless sensor networks. In this paper, after a brief overview of the four short-range wireless standards, the developed ZigBee platforms, ITRI ZBnode, have been presented for wireless sensor networking applications. Moreover, design issues for ZigBee industrial applications and the experimental implementation have been demonstrated via a multi-hop tree network.

Visions and experiences on virtualization and federation are given by leading experts from US, EU, and Asia.

Design and Analysis of Transmission Parameters for UVR System Based on IEEE802.16e (M-WiMAX) 基于IEEE802.16e (M-WiMAX)的UVR系统传输参数设计与分析

This paper presents transmission parameters of UVR (Unmanned Vehicle Robot) systems based on IEEE802.16e (Mobile-WiMAX) systems. UVR requires higher uplink multimedia data rate, which is different from commercial M-WiMAX system. This paper designs some parameters satisfying the UVR system requirements and demonstrates performance evaluation based on the parameters. For the transmission parameters, the number of DL/UL OFDM symbols are determined.For reliable transmission of control signals, DL modulation and coding rate is selected by QPSK, 1/2 coding rate and that of UL is chosen by 16QAM, 1/2 coding rate. Based on these parameters, computer simulations demonstrate the system performance of UVR system.

Highly Distributed Supervision for Autonomic Networks and Services 自主网络和服务的高度分布式监督

Self-supervision and self-adaptability are key requirements for future network and service platform. This paper presents a fully distributed approach to the supervision of autonomic systems. The proposed approach relies on the self-adaptation features of autonomic elements and their clustering through self-organization algorithms. Furthermore, it presents two use cases of the proposed approach on fault handling and load balancing respectively. Moreover, the paper provides some initial evaluation, through simulation, on a load balancing use case. Finally, it compares the proposed approach with the related works.

Efficient Packet Scheduling Schemes for Multiantenna Packet Radio Downlink 多天线分组无线电下行链路的高效分组调度方案

In this paper, we propose fairness-oriented dual-stream multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) packet scheduling schemes for future multi-antenna packet radio systems. In general, multi-user transmit-receive schemes allow users to be scheduled on different parallel streams on the same time-frequency resource. Based on that, implementations of more intelligent scheduling schemes that are aware of the instantaneous state of the radio channel require utilization of time, frequency and spatial domain resources in an efficient manner. Stemming from the earlier advanced Proportional Fair (PF) scheduler studies, we extend the developments to dual-stream MIMO packet radios. Furthermore, we investigate the resulting fairness distribution among users together with efficiency in increasing the system capacity in terms of throughput and coverage by simulating practical orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) system environment with MIMO functionality in Micro and Macro cell scenarios. As a concrete example, we demonstrate that by using new multi-user scheduling schemes, significant coverage improvements in the order of 30% can be obtained at the expense of only 14% throughput loss. Furthermore, the user fairness is also greatly increased, by more than 18%, when measured using Jain’s fairness index.

SoC Design of a Dual-Mode Transceiver for Power-Line Telecommunications 电力线通信双模收发器的SoC设计

In this paper, the design of a dual-mode transceiver for a power-line telecommunications (D-PLT) is described. We investigate on designing a system architecture of the D-PLT, adopting an efficient modulation technique against power-line channel and supporting a high reliability, which is well suited for the CENELEC B, C, and D bands roughly from 90 to 150 kHz. The proposed D-PLT is eventually integrated to a system-on-a-chip (SoC), synthesizing all of a baseband transceiver, a channel forward error correction (FEC) module, a micro-controller unit (MCU) to access communication protocols, and analog front end circuits, i.e., a pre-amplifier, a gain-amplifier, a digital-to-analog converter (DAC), a comparator, as well as external interfaces to communicate with application layer. The designed D-PLT is fabricated utilizing a mixed 0.18 um CMOS technology and it is required a total area of about 9,576 mm^2 consuming about 148 mW at the maximum data rates of 2.5 kbps.
