Design of Double-Precision Fully-Programmable Computational Unit for FPGA and ASIC 基于FPGA和ASIC的双精度全可编程计算单元设计

The sensing algorithm of many high-precision sensors is implemented in Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) because such devices meet most of the algorithm requirements. But to enhance sensors’ performance, it is often required to compensate for their output against environmental variations. This compensation requires implementing polynomial functions in some variables corresponding to the environmental variations. This paper presents a low-cost design for double-precision, reusable, and flexible computational unit for implementing such polynomial functions in digital hardware. The design can be directly used for any FPGA and even for Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) development. In the case of ASIC design, it also features the required flexibility to handle sensor to sensor polynomial variations. The design has been verified through simulation for different FPGAs and 350nm technology node ASIC. The design has also been implemented in Spartan-6 FPGA to compensate sensors’ output in real-time.

Assesment of Delivery Platforms and Online Pedagogy Requirements 交付平台和在线教学要求的评估

The problem of delivering lectures remotely is not new. It was first done using radio, television and then satellite broadcasting. This paper covers remote learning and the technical requirements of delivering modern online lectures using the Internet. The popular platforms such as Google Meet and Zoom are discussed. The digital divide including broadband availability and affordability are also discussed, covering factors to deployment. The psychological factors affecting online learning are focused upon. It is concluded that a fast, stable internet connection is critical and that, Google Meet offers the best platform. The online material also needs to be delivered in short focussed multimedia rich segments, of a maximum duration not exceeding 2.5 minutes.

Earthquake Forecasting by Parallel Support Vector Regression Using CUDA 基于CUDA的并行支持向量回归地震预报

Earthquakes are a devastating natural hazard that can wipe out thousands of lives and cause economic loss to the geographical location. Seismic stations continuously monitor and gather data regarding the vibration and movement of the ground at a particular site. The collected data is processed by the model to forecast the occurrence of earthquakes in the Caribbean region. This paper presents a Parallel Support Vector Regression (PSVR) model to forecast earthquakes using Graphic Processing Unit (GPU). In the implementation of a PSVR using GPU, Computing Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) framework is utilized, which is a famous programming structure for General Purpose Computing on GPU. This newly computed PSVR model shows considerable improvement in training speed and achieved an accuracy of 92% when compared with Scikit Learn and LibSVM library on Central Processing Unit (CPU) and GPU.

A Quantitative Case Study in WSNs: Design and Implementation of Student Smart ID Card 基于无线传感器网络的学生智能身份证的设计与实现

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is a collection of small nodes which are used to sense physical environmental conditions like temperature, pressure, sound, motion. Sensor nodes are deployed to carry out various applications such as disaster recovery, industrial control, health monitoring, environmental monitoring. However, least work has been done in the school environment application. Therefore, in this research work, a smart system has been developed that replace the traditional methods of administrating the University with more sustainable and eco- friendly solutions. WSN is used to record the student's attendance and to track their entry and exit in the classroom. WSN incorporated with the student id card and to check the appropriateness an online survey system has been conducted in AMA University. Incorporation of WSN with Student id card will be benefitted to record student attendance, in the certificate of registration, to avoid examination clashes, replaces exam permit, student health care and eliminating library sign in and out.

Heuristic Based Approach for Usability Evaluation of Mobile Games 基于启发式的手机游戏可用性评估方法

The increasing popularity of mobile games has grasped the attention in both academia and industry. The game market has evolved to the extent that it has great impact in the economy of the worlds. As there are multiple areas of issues that affect the game quality, but game usability is one of the major problems that game designers are facing. Heuristic evaluation has been very popular method. But the lack of validation has weakened the effectiveness and confidence in the heuristics. This paper focuses on the issues related to usability of the mobile games. A survey was conducted to identify the issues of usability in a game directly from the game players. This survey covered one major genre of games. After identification and analysis, we proposed a new set of heuristics to enhance the usability of mobile games. We have also used these heuristics as guidelines to redesign a game. And the redesigned game has been evaluated by the players to validate our newly proposed heuristics. By validation of heuristics we can certainly increase the usability.

Multi-ring Subgroup Method in Characterising Highly Self-shielded Gadolinia Burnable Poison Pins for the UK EPR Nuclear Fuel Assembly 英国EPR核燃料组件高自屏蔽钆可燃毒针的多环亚群表征方法

Precisely modelling burnup behavior of Gadolinia burnable poison pins in a nuclear reactor is tricky, as it is a very strong absorber of thermal neutrons. The highly self-shielded burnable poison depletes largely from outermost zones inwards, presenting strong flux gradients around the pin. Classic modelling methods are based on equivalence theory, tracking pin-averaged cross sections, and collapsing all radial rings down. However, the subdivision of the whole pin into multiple radial zones is ineffective, as each zone is still represented by the same cross sections in 172 groups. To capture the self-shielding effect, a subgroup method is employed in this work to accurately account for the ring effect in Gadolinia-bearing pins. Deterministic code (WIMS) is used for producing homogenised cross sections for Gadolinia-zoning assemblies, obtaining lattice power distributions, the results of which are benchmarked against a Monte Carlo code (Serpent) for model verifications.

Water Control System for Al Nakheel Tree Using Fuzzy Logic with Trend Analysis 基于模糊逻辑和趋势分析的棕榈树水控系统

The proposed water control system for Al Nakheel Tree is a multifaceted implementation model that combines the Fuzzy Logic Technique, Internet of Things (IoT), and Cloud Technologies. The NodeMCU microcontroller collects data from the temperature, and soil moisture sensors, and then performs Fuzzy Logic to determine the right amount of water the motor pump should supply to the palm trees. The ages of the palm trees are also used to determine the frequency of the watering process. These data, including the status of the system, are stored in a cloud database. Using the mobile application which was securely paired to the microcontroller helps the farmer to monitor the status and control the system. The system switches from Fuzzy Logic operation to trend analysis using the moving averaging method when one of the sensors fails.

Attribute-Based Encryption (ABE) scheme as a new cryptography primitive, shows its advantages in fine-grained access control mechanism and one-to-many flexible encryption mode. By conducting an in-depth study, we demonstrate the development trace, major work and research status of ABE. This paper mainly introduces the basic concepts of ABE, analyzes the research problems, namely key abuse, revocation, multi-authorities, and its applications on resource discovery and e-health especially in personal health record in cloud computing environment.

Complexwavelet Transform Cwt Based Video Magnification For 3d Facial Video Identification 基于复小波变换Cwt的视频放大三维人脸视频识别

Magnifying micro changes in motion and brightness of videos that are unnoticeable by the human visual system have recently been an interesting area to explore. In this paper, we explore this technique in 3D facial video identification, we utilize this technique to identify 3D objects from 2D images. We present a Complex Wavelet Transform CWT, 2D-Dual CWT based technique, to calculate any changes between subsequent video frames of CWT sub-bands at different spatial locations. In this technique, a gradient based method is proposed to determine the orientation of each CWT sub band in addition to the Radon Transform, RT, that is utilized to detect any periodic motion in the video frames. We conducted many simulation results to show that the proposed hybrid technique provides promising results when compared with the existing literature in micro magnification of videos, like steerable pyramids STR or the Riesz Transform based one RT-STR. The proposed technique has been employed to make a distinction between 3D facial object videos and 2D face image videos, as will be demonstrated in our simulation results.
