be based on the presence of Byzantine Emperors and Bulgarian rulers in the region. Therefore, the fourth part is to be understood as a fresh and novel approach towards toponomastic aspects in the region, which shall stimulate further research in the near future. This article on the geopolitical consequences of the Serbian invasion of Byzantine Macedonia in the 14 th century is directly connected to two recently published articles by Mihailo St. Popović. Therein, he developed a working hypothesis about the possible existence of the Serbian medieval Oecumene. For this purpose, Mihailo Popović highlighted certain parts of the lives of Serbian rulers. He also compiled an overview of the places, where Serbian rulers granted their charters and where they held state councils of their clergy and noblemen. All these places were illustrated by digital maps. The aim of this article is to provide additional data that could allow us to infer, whether there really was a political idea of a Serbian Oecumene during the reign of Stefan Uroš IV Dušan (1331–1355) and if it was a concept parallel or opposed to the Byzantine Oecumene. Based on discussions, three research questions were raised, which are outlined in three distinct parts by Vratislav Zervan, Mihailo St. Popović
