In this paper, relay selection, subcarrier pairing and power allocation are investigated jointly to maximize the channel capacity for OFDM-based cooperative networks under a total power constraint. The problem can be formulated as a mixed binary integer programming problem, which is NP-hard and very difficult to manipulate. In order to achieve an acceptable performance with a proper complexity, we first solve the relay selection and subcarrier pairing problem under equal power allocation. Then, power allocation is performed according to the equivalent channel power gains of the subcarrier pairs using water-filling. Simulations are carried out to validate our analysis and show that the proposed scheme can achieve an acceptable capacity with a proper complexity.

Deep-micron semiconductor technology enables us to integrate more arithmetic and logic units in single modestly sized chip, so that many media processing and industrial control applications can utilize high performance, low power but not costly processors to meet more intensive computing or timing demands. Dynamic reconfigurable structure brings out a new design paradigm with a good balance between performance and flexibility, which can achieve hard-wired like performance and can be custom designed just by updating software. We propose a dynamic reconfigurable coprocessor for flexible precision matrix algorithms. It employs several dynamic reconfigurable multi-operation arithmetic units, aims at high-performance media processing and in industrial control applications. We analyze and implement four typical applications on the coprocessor, and contrast performances with implementations of ARM920EJ-S and TI TMS320C6713 DSP processor. Experimental result shows that the coprocessor has high speed-up factors with high-parallel algorithms.

We put forward a new method for multi-focus image fusion based on the shearlet transform. It is combined with the multi-scale method for capturing the geometry features of the multidimensional data. Firstly, the shearlet transform is adopted to classify the original image in both the scales and directions to get the low and high frequency sub-band coefficients. Secondly, based on the coefficients, we analyze the relationship between the low frequency coefficients and the sharpness of the image, a weighted averaging scheme is presented. Finally, the high frequency coefficients are obtained by selecting the corresponding larger absolute value. Experimental results show that the proposed method is feasible with the better quality than the state-of-the-art one.

With the development of the intelligent vehicle navigation systems and vehicle networking systems, vehicle positioning and state estimation become very important. This paper investigates the integration of Global Positioning System (GPS), Inertial Navigation System (INS) and Dead Reckoning based on Anti-lock Braking System (ABSDR) positioning based on Kalman filter, and aims at achieving full-time vehicle positioning. In this paper, we use Kalman Filter to estimate INS positioning error based on GPS or ABSDR solution, take the INS solution compensated with estimated error as system output. This paper introduces INS positioning algorithm, dead reckoning method based on the ABS wheel speed and Kalman filtering method. After that, simulation analysis and experimental verification of the positioning algorithm are carried out. The results show that the system output high-precision high-frequency positioning information when GPS is available, and when GPS is unavailable, INS positioning errors can be compensated well with ABSDR introduced, achieving the full-time positioning of the vehicle.

Aiming at the features of data cube, the paper firstly defines the query equivalent set concept and other concepts. The query algorithm of data cube is proposed in the paper connected with the cloud computing environment. According to the influences of all aspects during the algorithm procedures, the data distributed strategy of data cube in the cloud computing environment is also proposed in the paper. The theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the data cube query and distributed strategy which is applied in the cloud computing environment proposed in the paper can effectively optimize data distribution and data query efficiency.

An RSA variant algorithmic approach for speeding up SSL's performance is presented on a web server. The RSA variant improves the performance of SSL's handshake protocol by up to a factor of 7.5 for 1024-bit RSA keys. We improve the server's performance by batching the SSL handshake protocol and shifting some decryption work to SSL clients. The theoretical value shows that the performance of the SSL handshake protocol has been substantially improved by the method.

In fading channels, the computation of Loglikelihood ratio (LLR) without channel state information (CSI) is complicated. The maximum capacity linear approximation (MCLA) has been proposed to reduce the computational complexity of LLR. However, the computation of LLR' probability density function (PDF) is still complicated due to numerical integrations. To overcome this shortage, we propose a simple Gaussian approximation to PDF of LLR. Using our proposed method, the computational complexity is significantly reduced and the BER performance is still very close to that of the MCLA in uncorrelated Rayleigh fading channels.

The future development of artificial limb is to provide sensory feedback for amputee users. Cutaneous electrical stimulation is a convenient and energy efficient way to produce substituted sensory information. In this paper, we present the results of psychophysical experiments of electrotactile stimulation in normal human subjects. The purposes of these experiments are: (1) to identify the suitable electrode position in upper limb, and (2) to investigate the perceptual levels of sensation with cutaneous electrical stimulation that could be detected in human. We recruited 18 healthy subjects, in all experiments. 16 of them participated in the first set of psychophysical experiments, and 6 of them participated in the second set of experiments. In the first set of experiments, four positions of reference electrode relative to the stimulation electrode in the upper arm were tested. The results showed that positions opposite or 10 cm apart from the stimulation electrode required lower stimulation currents that evoked the similar level of sensation. In the second set of experiments with the reference electrode placed opposite to the stimulation electrode, a fine gradation of sensation was obtained by modulating stimulation current amplitude, pulse width and frequency. The results indicated that 15 levels of sensation could be detected by health subjects. These results are valuable in guiding further experiments on amputees and for future development of intelligent artificial limb.
